I had a breast reduction two weeks ago. I’ve gone from a 34GG/H to a 34D.

Crack on with any questions!

@morriszapp I'm so glad it went well for you. Lots to think about but it sounds like you have made up your mind how wonderful.

I'm in the waiting room for my consultation just now .. in an industrial estate. They must chose such Glamourous places mustn't they!! 🤣

Singletrackmind · 06/06/2023 20:26

@MorrisZapp great news 🙌 I know exactly what you mean about personality … same impression with my surgeon, it’s the admin lady that does the chat! Good to have a confidant too … I’m not telling my family at all as they just won’t get it (obviously will have to at some point…) but I have a fab friend who’s right behind me which helps loads.

Singletrackmind · 06/06/2023 20:28

@Stickykidney how was your consult?

Madagascary · 06/06/2023 21:28

Don’t worry too much that people will notice either. I over worried.
i could get wounds wet for a few weeks. I’d be stunned if you can
also I was too scared to!!

Bigtitsbetty · 06/06/2023 22:34

All sounding good ladies!

I forgot the bit about where they place the nipples. It still feels terribly high compared to where they were.

@singletrackmind it was good but I felt bit on the conveyer belt... Busy clinic. The surgeon too time and answered all my questions but wasn't terribly reassuring about scaring because I will have keiloid scarring most likely... Thanks to this thread I asked about the gel strips, wearing a bra afterwards and the 'dog ears' he said about wearing a bra for three weeks after surgery... Which I didn't think tallyed with the chat here. Made it sound very easy... I thought from here that the post surgical bra would be for longer... Tempted to go for another with someone else just to get a bearing and be sure
I was more sure before I went in. I really want it but the post op after care was not what I was expecting... Made it sound very straightforward which put me off for some reason!

Stickykidney · 07/06/2023 06:46

And when I asked about what my nipples measured (the one where they see how low they were) he was dismissive and said I didn't need to know that. I assumed I was interested in what I would be looking at difference wise and again he said I didn't need to know that was just for him.
But I wanted to know... Then he showed me where my 'neww nipples' would go. But he wouldn't have without me asking about the measurements

Singletrackmind · 07/06/2023 07:31

It is worth seeing more than one surgeon if you are not sure. The first person I saw was arguably more ‘thorough’ about some aspects of the discussion, but I just didn’t feel comfortable with them. Also they are a particular ‘breed’ of person … I think … to do what they do. So not all of them do ‘humaning’ very well as mentioned above. They can be quite blunt about things. On the post surgery bra wearing all my info is 6 weeks.

Martinisarebetterdirty · 07/06/2023 07:35

@Stickykidney you need to go with your instincts. I think this surgeon is not for you. Sorry you had a rushed experience, they should tell you whatever you ask and be glad you are interested! My surgeon spent ages with me and showed me more and more photos when I asked. He also explained the difference in different terms and put it in his follow up letter. I feel you need to go in confident that you have the right team, not worried that they may not tell you things.

Madagascary · 07/06/2023 10:13

Oh no, I think we all had to wear a bra all the time for several weeks

Madagascary · 07/06/2023 10:13

In my head, my neck to nipple length is 28 cm, 28 something anyway. It came through on a letter later.

Stickykidney · 07/06/2023 11:13

Thanks so much. That's confirmed it for me. I wanted to like it so much and I wasn't comfortable. No photos offered, they joined me on a Facebook group of previous patients.
I know surgeons are a different breed.... I know that they have to be able to detach from their work to do it... Just wasn't sure. And the more I look at before and after photos of other clients I worry about the unevenness and sort of 'pockets' of breast tissue some of them have.

Thanks for the the advice. I'll keep looking :)

Singletrackmind · 07/06/2023 11:59

@Stickykidney I felt really deflated after seeing the first surgeon. As I said they were thorough, did measurements, told me how much higher my nipple would be, the % of tissue that wld be removed etc. But I just wasn’t sure & their before and after pics were limited so I couldn’t see their range of work or people who I felt were similar/ relatable enough for me.
I still have to do that detailed/ second consult with my chosen surgeon (early July) but … they were very positive when I met them, showed me lots of before and after pics, including similar sizes to me and answered questions/ spoke to my concerns etc.

From having my head in this A LOT it seems three are plenty of people doing this work now, so keep looking for recommendations and you will find the right person 👍.

OhNoOhDearOh · 07/06/2023 12:27

The first surgeon I saw I didn’t gel with. Refused to show before and afters.

second I knew was ‘the one’ immediately. Didn’t see before and afters but not because they were refused - because I didn’t need to see them! I just knew he’d get my the best results.

This thread has been so informative, thank you everyone.

I’m not sure if this is allowed but if anyone has had a reduction done in the south west London /Surrey area are you happy to recommend your surgeon?

Bigtitsbetty · 07/06/2023 13:19

@Stickykidney No way would I go with that surgeon.

I wore a surgical bra/sports bra for 10 weeks I think. Three weeks is no time.

MorrisZapp · 07/06/2023 15:57

I'm glad to hear there's a second/detailed consult as I wouldn't be happy going ahead based on yesterday's convo. I mean, no size was really discussed.

I'll see what the clinical letter says when it arrives (and I can stop obsessively refreshing my email).

In other news I've discovered breast reduction Tiktok, and I intend to fully immerse myself this evening! So much fun. Fuck you Dooley and your shoelaces 🤣

Madagascary · 07/06/2023 21:04

Omg! So I trawled through my old emails from last year from my initial consultation with my surgeon and found yes that my neck whatever the measurement is to nipple measurement was 28 cm or something and I think I googled and it should be 21.

Anyway, then I found reference to my asymmetric boobs which I now know they obviously were, but didn’t realise and a slight ptosis on my side one side.

I know a ptosis means a droop and so apparently I had tit droop!!!

obviously was just so excited to get the operation done. I didn’t really take in what the email said.

If Basingstoke counts then my guy yes. Pm me

Madagascary · 07/06/2023 21:07

Your surgeon should have loads of photos.

I rather fear I’m the before and after photo now.

Anyway, my surgeon I knew because my son had a nose operation with him about two years before.
When I went with my son, he was about 18, 19 at the time, he brought up his iPad to show him all the pictures of nose operations and how it would work et cetera And by mistake showed a picture of some middle-aged tits. My son look like a rabbit caught in the headlights, and we still laugh about it now.

Martinisarebetterdirty · 07/06/2023 21:31

@Ilovepeanutbuttersandwiches my guy does Wimbledon Parkside or the London Clinic, obviously not going in until August so depends when you want recommendations for (everything about him is good so far 🤞🏻
@Madagascary one of mine is 35! Reading your message reminded me of the first letter my new oncologist wrote to my GP cc’ing me, said they had marked ptosis , I was mortified 😁

Ilovepeanutbuttersandwiches · 07/06/2023 21:57

@Madagascary @Martinisarebetterdirty
thank you for the replies.

MorrisZapp · 08/06/2023 12:07

Thinking on it, I didn't really love my consultation. I'm going to research two further surgeons as I didn't feel I could ask everything I wanted to.

I so desperately want to crack on, but I know I need to do this properly. If it takes months to get there then so be it. Pain in the arse having to pay further consultancy fees but I'd rather do that than regret my choice.

Anyone with experience at Edinburgh Spire please DM!

Ilovepeanutbuttersandwiches · 08/06/2023 20:02

Sorry to hijack this thread, as it’s an ask me anything I hope you don’t all mind. It’s such a useful discussion thread.

I watched the Sali Hughes video on her instagram and she mentions her surgeon - who I’ve googled and he is a Harley Street private surgeon.

From reading back through this thread it seems a lot of you who’ve had the surgery recently went privately with surgeons who work in the NHS too. Is that preferable?

Also I’m worried that the surgeon is going to say my issue is not that my boobs are too big but I’m just fat!! I have been reading things like “neck to nipple measurement should be around 21cm” to gauge where I am at. But is that just as simple as measuring from the bottom of your neck to your nipple 🤦🏻‍♀️

Madagascary · 08/06/2023 20:13

When I got my letter about my nape or neck or whatever it was to nipple measurement, I googled it because obviously I’ve never heard of that before and I think I found 21 but don’t take my word for it.

I never even thought about whether he does the NHS and this wouldn’t have affected me. I went to the guy I liked him I booked it, don’t overcomplicate it
