I had a breast reduction two weeks ago. I’ve gone from a 34GG/H to a 34D.

Crack on with any questions!

I think Sali Hughes may have inadvertently created a bit of inflation with her recommendations. Apparently her £10k cost 3 years ago is now £16k for the same op with Mr Mallucci! Wow.

The main thing is finding someone with the right experience/ who you feel confident with etc. Generally most surgeons will work/ have worked across both sectors.

There’s literature on the ‘perfect breast’ which is where some of these measurements come from … it’s ‘21cm from the sternal notch’ …. and surgeons will use guidelines etc … but given that we are all different sizes/ shapes etc I wouldn’t get too hung up on that stuff….at least that’s what i’m telling myself 😁

MorrisZapp · 08/06/2023 22:37

I can't cope with surgeons being Mr this and Mrs that. Ffs just call yourself Doctor 😂

MorrisZapp · 08/06/2023 22:40

And so very predictable the Sali effect would cause boob inflation. I loved her video but I'm not sure it was wise to rave quite that much about the magic hands of Mallucci, that was only going to go one way.

Madagascary · 09/06/2023 06:08

NOTCH! That’s it. Notch to nip 😁

Also think she downplayed the discomfort to fly within a week that must’ve been pretty sore

Bigtitsbetty · 09/06/2023 07:02

I haven’t watched the Salu Hughes thing but I was told not to fly a month either side of my surgery because of DVT risk.

thank you for this thread. I am 5 ft 3 and I’m a size 10 everywhere except my boobs which are 32G. They are naturally large, full and round.

I’ve been thinking of a reduction so will use this thread as my starting point for action.

if anyone has recommendations for surgeons in Dorset, I’d be grateful.

£16K, wow that is inflation. but not surprising to have upped his pricing after that much exposure.

thanks for the info on the notch to nipple measurements. I’m not the best with measuring but I’m definitely a lot more than 21cm!!

going to start making phone calls today to see if I can make some initial appointments.

also interested in how soon I’d be able to fly, if there is availability for me to have the op straight after I finish my current contract then I’ve got a holiday aboard 5 weeks post op. May be too soon?

Singletrackmind · 09/06/2023 08:39

So I was worried about the flying thing as I’m flying in July & op in Aug but checked and they said short hop to Europe fine - it’s the long haul stuff that’s more of an issue + I’m low risk

@MorrisZapp yeah just say ‘Doctor’ FFS … they spent long enough getting the qualifications!!!

user80 · 09/06/2023 09:11

Checking in from the other side! All went well and they took just under 400g from each boob. I stayed in overnight and had 5 star treatment from start to finish, it was amazing. The NHS still has some pockets of awesomeness.
I’m at home now and waiting for the district nurse to come and remove my drains. Feeling a bit sore but not unbearable, am keeping on top of it with paracetamol and the occasional codeine.

Amazing! So happy for you! Can't wait to hear all about your recovery and results.

On the flight issue, what about the many people hopping over to Turkey and Lithuania? They're even coming from America for it so that's a long flight. I can't think of anything worse than recovering from surgery in a hotel/taxi/airport etc.

Singletrackmind · 09/06/2023 09:44

@user80 fantastic news! Was thinking of you so great to hear you are well. Keep us posted 😀

Martinisarebetterdirty · 09/06/2023 10:15

@user80 congratulations! Hope you have a quick and easy recovery.
@Singletrackmind Im also flying early July, they knew when they gave me the surgery date so should all be fine.

MorrisZapp · 09/06/2023 10:29

I flew to Majorca two days after a tooth extraction once 😂 I remember trying to munch my way through an industrial bag of Lays crisps on one side of my mouth.

Bigtitsbetty · 09/06/2023 14:44

Welcome to post op side @user80 !

@Aintshesweet Welcome. Feel free to ask any questions here. There are so many posters at different stages. I’m almost 9 months post surgery now.

Congrats @user80 hope the recovery goes well.

I think 5 weeks post surgery, you'd be okay to fly but always worth checking with your consultant.

MorrisZapp · 10/06/2023 11:13

I received my clinical letter. My notch to nip measurement is 29cm and I have grade 3 droop ie the droopiest possible 😭😭

The letter contains many caveats, risk warnings etc and I know this is just the first of many bits of paperwork which will make scary reading. Such a cold bucket of water after all the joyful tiktoks.

I want the 'after' sooo much but this is a very scary time. I'm the only person who can make this decision and it feels huge.

BTW I'm a 34g and sick of it.

user80 · 10/06/2023 14:21

I didn’t get any of those sort of stats @MorrisZapp and I’m not sure if they’re terribly helpful? The only thing that’s important is you’re not happy with your boobs and you can change that. Of course there are risks involved - they have to tell you all the scary bits so you’re making a decision with the full facts. But there’s a risk to leaving the house every day. Only you can decide, but take your time.

user80 · 10/06/2023 14:24

In case anyone is worrying about drains (I was before!), it didn’t hurt a bit having them taken out. Removing the micropore was more painful 😆 Huge relief!

Singletrackmind · 10/06/2023 16:28

@MorrisZapp know EXACTLY how you are feeling. The stark facts/ risk info is scary … I go from being fine then scared then fine then scared again on a daily basis as the date gets closer. @user80 has some wise words there. Take your time, ask questions. I think it would be odd not to be apprehensive to be honest!

Same here. And also regarding drains my guy says he very rarely uses them.

Madagascary · 10/06/2023 18:13

Oh God, they have to put the risks in I just glossed over that bit because it really isn’t that painful

Bigtitsbetty · 10/06/2023 18:55

I had drains but there was nothing in them. I agree with @user80 that the tape is far more painful.

OP posts:
Madagascary · 10/06/2023 18:57

Isn’t it so interesting how we all have different experiences. I think my tape was put on maybe changed it after a week and then I took it off myself. I can’t remember it being sore at all

CafeNervosa · 10/06/2023 20:56

Hi. Can I ask, did anyone have resistance from their partner/husband? He is sympathetic to my discomfort but doesn’t agree that I should have a surgery with general anaesthetic with associated risks unless it’s needed for my health, especially not with young children. It’s made me worry that if something did go wrong, it wouldn’t be fair because we have joint responsibility for the children. Did anyone else experience similar concern from people close to them? How did you manage that or justify how important it was to you?
