I had a breast reduction two weeks ago. I’ve gone from a 34GG/H to a 34D.

Crack on with any questions!

I wonder if you need an uplift. Most ops just have that as a side effect. Sorry if your case different obvious but you might find the reduction IS the uplift

Madagascary · 16/05/2023 16:50

All that dressing around stuff @Bigtitsbetty

exhausting

user80 · 16/05/2023 20:24

Hello all. Have just re-read this entire thread and it’s a treasure trove of information. Thank you all so much.

Update: I was booked in for my next consult with the breast care nurse on 6 June. Have loads of questions ready. Then got a phone call last night - surgery has been booked for 7 June 😳 Pre-op and consult with breast care nurse next week. Next week!! I’m shocked and excited and nervous and shocked and scared and shocked.

Singletrackmind · 16/05/2023 20:25

Phew … looked at that [other] thread it’s exhausting, not going back there!

@Martinisarebetterdirty great respect to you for being here & talking about it all. You have much more to reflect on and consider, so take your time & ask questions. You will have seen me doing just that on here & I’m really appreciative of @Bigtitsbetty @Madagascary @anonymouse esp.

I think I said before that I chose my surgeon based on the fact that they specialised in boobs & that includes reconstructive work, as this really is super skilled stuff. If you’ve found the right person for you then the rest is about working through all of the detail that lets you make the right personal decision.

I was reflecting today that I’ve spent over 30 years of my life ‘accommodating’ these boobs in all of the various ways that we women do. The idea that you don’t love yourself enough because you want to change something, is I think, entirely misplaced. Yes, I’m going to be apprehensive, probably right up the day, but I really want this for me & the rest of the years I have.

Madagascary · 16/05/2023 20:57

Omg @user80 how thrilling

echo @anonymouse on the other thread. If only they know life does not have to be that way!

Madagascary · 16/05/2023 20:58

Sorry. Echo @Singletrackmind

I need to keep this in mind when discussing with my DD (6). I’m so ultra careful to be very positive and loving when talking about myself in front of her - I don’t want her to think I’m doing this because I don’t like myself or my boobs. #overthinking

This is my favourite thread ever! I'm a 32/34 FF and I'm utterly sick of it. I'm too old to be a mod now anyway but oh how I wanted to rock a Fred Perry and not look like Hefty Helga.

I like to stand in front of the mirror and lift my arms up as high as they will go, and pretend my tits are actually like that. I get to see hitherto uncharted sections of my midriff too 🤣

And the pyjama thing, god I get that. And soft bras. And supermarket bikinis. All the sweet nothings that normal sized women take for granted.

I'll keep mulling my options over. Thanks for the thread.

MorrisZapp · 16/05/2023 22:11

Forgot to mention denim jackets! And biker jackets! I wear them and just don't do them up 🤣

I really wouldn’t overthink the impact of this on children or how much they remember or notice.

I was terrified about going back to work and someone noticing, but no one did. And I asked after 😂😂

Madagascary · 16/05/2023 22:36

Hey morris. Tried to dm you and failed. Am I right you’ve been here since time began? 😂

That's me 😍 I'm probably hanging out with a margarita further up this very thread 😘

I’m also here, lurking, following cancer & post-mastectomy reconstruction on one side and reduction on the other. I found the thread as I was upset not to be as small as I had hoped and was looking for reassurance that my new boobs would go down more after surgery as they still seemed huge for quite a while.

I had a DIEP reconstruction on the right (using my belly - plenty of that available) and a reduction on the left from 36H to DD. It was done on the NHS as part of my post-cancer care in Worcestershire, if location is relevant. They are so much better than before and a lift was all part and parcel of the process. Sadly, any further reduction will have to be via good old diet and exercise.

I happy to report that I’ve also recently had my first mammogram on my reduced side and all seams stayed in tact! I’m honestly not sure if it was more or less uncomfortable than when they were bigger.

Anyway, I want to say thank you for the thread, it has been very informative and reassuring for me and I’m very happy to answer any questions if they can be of help to anyone else.

Madagascary · 17/05/2023 07:02

Hmm. 🤔😂

Well hmu if you want more details.

Singletrackmind · 21/05/2023 18:32

Has anyone been on the Reddit / reduction threads ... some good stuff and some totally bonkers stuff ... For those of you out the other side ... was there a point where you stopped reading/ researching ..? I think I need to stop now ..!

Madagascary · 21/05/2023 21:22

No, I never looked at Reddit.

But I do think I know everybody on TikTok or Instagram who has had a reduction. I’ve ended up quite friendly on Instagram with a woman who lives near Vancouver who had one

Bigtitsbetty · 21/05/2023 21:26

@Singletrackmind i never read anything like that. In real life I’d never met anyone who’d regretted getting it done.
I was at such a low point with them that I would’ve been willing to try anything. I had the advantage of working in an operating theatre for years so I’m not frightened of surgery of anaesthetic, and I also have a really high pain threshold (I have only discovered this quite recently, I thought I was ‘normal’ but realised that I take a lot less painkillers for people having the same surgery)

OP posts:
Singletrackmind · 21/05/2023 22:04

@Bigtitsbetty totally get you. The lows do get pretty low. I’m not at all bad with pain & have had a few surgeries over my lifetime so pretty chilled on that front. Instagram though … total rabbit hole!

MorrisZapp · 21/05/2023 22:25

I've had a chat with DP and he says I should go for it. I've been watching loads of YouTube videos and I am SHOCKED by how quickly these American hospitals discharge patients post op. Like get up, get dressed, get in this wheelchair now off you pop.

Surely you'd expect to stay in for the first night? I would hate to leave while still unable to string a sentence together.

Bigtitsbetty · 21/05/2023 23:10

@Singletrackmind maybe I didn’t research it enough? Too late now!
@MorrisZapp My DH was really supportive. I think he secretly misses them in some instances 😊although he does think they are a much better size visually.

Singletrackmind · 22/05/2023 08:30

@MorrisZapp yeah I think it’s much more of a lottery over there in the US.. not least because of the whole ‘getting it on insurance’ which appears to be a cattle market compared to the NHS equivalent.
Anyhow, if your signif other is onboard then really that’s all you need. I’m putting down the researching …..!

Stickykidney · 22/05/2023 10:25

Thanks Betty for pointing me over to this thread from that recent one...
Reading thru everyone's experiences I have booked a consultation.. for the first time ever. I always think I'll put it off til I have the money... And time.. but that's never going to happen.
Hate louping about with these bags of meat on me slowing down my day. Will be very freeing if I decide to go for it...
So thanks for the thread everyone

Bigtitsbetty · 22/05/2023 10:36

Welcome @Stickykidney
The other thread was so dismissive of the debilitating effect of big breasts…eg: size up clothes (but they don’t fit anywhere else or look like a sack), “I’d love bigger breasts” (bigger but not gargantuan), not understanding how you are sexualised, etc.

Good luck for your consultation. When is it?

OP posts:
MorrisZapp · 22/05/2023 10:54

My consultation is also booked! June 6th.

I'm really interested to know what's possible. I have no idea if my boobs are wide or not. They certainly are pendulous. I'm hoping she says I can go from 34g to 32d.

Funny to think we used to say D cup to mean big boobs - I'd feel light and free at a D!

MorrisZapp · 22/05/2023 11:01

Betty were you in hospital overnight?
