NC for this as I remained anonymous, which was fairly pointless as I did tell some family and friends and it spread from there.

OP posts:

@Ireallydontknowimtired

No. OP heard them on the radio.

The discussion about lucky dip wasn't about checking the ticket. It was about OP buying a lucky dip and then hearing the numbers on the radio and thinking they sounded like the ones in her lucky dip so then checking them. Seriously.

Ok. Thanks for clarifying. I see what people mean but still don't think it's far-fetched for many people to buy a lucky dip ticket, look at the numbers a few times before they check the results and remember one or three numbers there.

Not saying this is true or not, just that it isn't impossible or unlikely enough to call the story a lie just based on that alone.

She didn't recognise the numbers from her lucky dip. She recognised the numbers as being the same as her ID!

Anyway. Who gives a fuck if this real or not. Mums net is for entertainment!

StrangerThanMe · 16/06/2021 13:04

Oh wow that's amazing. Congratulations 🎊 xx

Not anymore, the only threads allowed these days are ones about being pissed off your neighbour had the cheek to have a bbq or let there kids play in the garden

Maddison12 · 16/06/2021 13:14

@3luckystars

I know I’m going to win it too someday. I already have a plan to give some anonymously to a few family members but am also going to give the same to myself so they won’t suspect me, it will be like a giant game of Cleudo and they will never find out who the real winner is.

I am wondering if there was anything you ever really wanted to do, and then you got to do it when you won?

Like I have always wanted to do something creative, write a book, start a business, get a degree in graphic design, but because work got in the way, I just couldn’t do those things. You can do absolutely anything you ever wanted to do, I wonder is it a bit overwhelming?

Sounds like you are really having a great time with the travelling, I’m glad you are really enjoying yourself.

Wishing you all the best and thanks so much for the tip about telling absolutely NOBODY, I will definitely not tell anyone when I win.

Of course everyone would like to win the lottery, but you can't know you're going to winConfused

Don't forget a good MIL bash and an abusive DH! I decided today that I can't take this 'place' seriously anymore. I'll run myself into a mental health crisis. Entertainment it is!
TheRealHousewife · 16/06/2021 13:19

@SheldonesqueTheBstard

My mam and dad are open to me being adopted, as long as it comes with a house, chauffeur and a pool.

I’m in my 50s. Questionable looking and could oft be described as a pig in knickers with a sharp tongue but kind heart.

I’d be fine with a barn conversion

Any takers?

This made me laugh so much 🤣🤣🤣
Justme10 · 16/06/2021 13:25

@Notgoingtobefatformuchlonger Oh I don't really either. I don't think I live in the same world as the average mumsnetter Grin

At the end of the day there is no reason OP isn't a lottery winner, it has to be someone doesn't it.

RewindTime85 · 16/06/2021 13:51

Would you ever consider helping a complete stranger who was going through a hard time in life , if you knew it was genuine ?

Almost sounds like you're asking OP for money.

Bluesheep8 · 16/06/2021 14:47

The op seems to have stopped answering questions despite posting in AMA.

What does AMA mean ?
RewindTime85 · 16/06/2021 14:57

@Bluesheep8

they are lying, they work for Camelot and/or the Daily Mail and threads like these (arguably successful - if they get published widely enough) serve to encourage people to play the lottery. Just look at the number of posters saying "i have just now bought a ticket" etc

I'm putting my money on this option

Interesting
extravirginoliveoil · 16/06/2021 15:01

@bollihigh

Sorry, but I have slept on this - the OP is obviously very articulate and intelligent and comes over very well but sorry no way is this true with £10 million plonked in a 'private account' and no Financial Adviser or Accountant or Tax Adviser.

National Lottery is very good at advising and supporting their winners and in no universe would they recommend going down that route. Plus 10 mill in a private account is hugely risky as only 85k is covered by government guarantees.

Who would do that!

Have you read what the OP said?

She does have an accountant.

She did have a financial advisor but no longer does.

How do you know how many bank accounts the OP has or how the money is split? All that was mentioned was opening one private account. You have no idea about the OP's set up.

If you think she or he is a troll report it.

RewindTime85 · 16/06/2021 15:05

@SofiaMichelle

If i was asking for money, i would be doing that with a private message rather than emabarrasing myself in public domain.

Just saying - If I had 10mil and i knew a tiny morsel of that could change a life, i think i would. Satisfaction you get from helping people is like no other. For me anyway.

GappyValley · 16/06/2021 15:07

You mention a private bank - do you have to go on-line with this? A place like Coutts isn't on every High Street.

Private bank or not, very few people have cause to regularly visit a branch of their bank

If it’s Coutts, you pay your cheques into NatWest, Barclays private can go to Barclays

For everything else, your private banker calls or visits you

whatisheupto · 16/06/2021 15:10

Have you bought loads of shares?

RewindTime85 · 16/06/2021 15:11

I did. I wish i never.
TableFlowerss · 16/06/2021 15:23

Some high street banks have ‘Private’ account access. I work for a financial institution and in 15 years of working I’ve seen only a handful of customers with over a million and usually it’s a business account.

Private banking is part of high street banks where you’ll get a named advisor, probably a different waiting area etc to the berate jo.

It doesn’t have to be Couttes…
Apparently, it can make you miserable.

time.com/4176128/powerball-jackpot-lottery-winners/
I have read about a study that indicated that most people return to their 'baseline' happiness in a relatively short time (3- years) after both a good thing (lottery win) or a bad thing (leg amputation). So you can't really outrun your natural disposition.

Although obvs money gives you choices. I don't know if I would be significantly happier if I won the lottery and I can see it would come with different stresses (e.g. people on MN being bitches because I haven't given it all away!)

JinglingHellsBells · 16/06/2021 15:30

@NCuserer Have you spotted your thread online in the Mirror?

bollihigh · 16/06/2021 15:40

Even if I thought the OP was a troll why would I report it it is a fascinating thread for many reasons.

A lot of Mumsnet threads end up being culled for articles in the tabloids. If I was a lazy reporter this would be a brilliant place to seed ideas and after a couple of days, you have had your article written for you.

Everyone's a winner and mumsnet gets another free mention which is no doubt good for business.

You won't' believe the Inside the life of a secret lottery winner!
