Can you cut your own toenails? I'm finding it an effort to do this and I "only" have 2.5 stone to lose. But that 2.5 stone all seems to be round my middle Hmm.

AmICrazyorWhat2 · 09/09/2019 21:49

Unfortunately, we live far away from her so we can't exercise together. I think she needs to find some form of exercise that she really enjoys and that'll motivate her, but it hasn't happened yet. DH's family is close-knit, despite being scattered, so I suppose we can all just keep in touch and offer encouragement when she's ready to make changes. Thanks for your advice. Flowers

Next, yes I can 😂 I can touch my nose with my toes, no flexibility issues.

A friend lost 10 stone and seeing how it changed her life has been amazing. She went on a plane for the first time, now she’s always going on holiday. When she can round she wouldn’t go upstairs now she can. She can get up and dance! She’s a new person and she’s not worried about dying young anymore.

Keep going OP Flowers

Sweet kitty, how wonderful is that!

Thankyou!

Have you struggled with hunger or wanting to emotionally eat since starting? What does VLCD stand for? Can you explain how exante works please?

Well done on your weight loss, honestly that it's a fantastic. You should be proud of yourself.

SunshineAngel · 09/09/2019 22:59

Hey :). Well done on your weight loss so far. I lost 12st a few years ago, starting at 22 stone, so know how difficult it can be. If you ever want a supportive chat, feel free to PM me!

leaserspottedmummybird · 09/09/2019 23:25

@NcHere congratulations on your weight loss. I guess my question is how do your dc feel
About your weight? My mum has always been large and it was difficult for me as a child.

GertrudeCB · 10/09/2019 08:16

Well you have inspired me to get my fat arse to the gym - induction tomorrow night.
I did Cambridge BUT I didn't do the stepping back up to normal eating plan, like a dickhead I thought I could do it by myself and put all but a stone back on.
Koko op Smile

@justbeingelle Hunger no. Emotional eating yes. Wanting to boredome eat? Yes.

VLCD stands for Very Low Calorie Diet. Exante is just food replacement items with the exact RDA of vitamins and minerals needed. So you don't have to face real food if you don't want to. You can eat a 200val low carb meal if you do.

No questions here but I just wanted to say well done on your weight loss so far Smile

A lot of what you said has resonated with me, especially as at the start of the year I was nearly 21 stone. I've lost 5 stone so far through diet and exercise, and you really are right, I do believe to be successful at losing a significant amount of weight you have to get that lightbulb moment where suddenly it just clicks and you get it. So many times I had tried in the past but this time it was the realisation that I qualified for bariatric surgery on the NHS and if I didn't do something I wouldn't be around when my girls were older that made me realise that I didn't have another option but to change my ways.

I'm an emotional binge eater as well and have had to find another way to cope with stress and my emotions (not doing too well at the moment!)

You have to learn what hungry feels like and realise feeling hungry between meals isn't such a bad thing. It still amazes me that the amount I eat now (which doesn't feel like much) is what other people consider normal. I had fooled myself into believing that regular people often ate a whole pizza and half a chocolate trifle for dinner 3 times a week! 😥

Good luck with the rest of your weight loss, you sound so determined you will get there in no time!

NcHere · 10/09/2019 09:48

@SunshineAngel wow that is AMAZING!

I may take you up on that. Thankyou.

Lesserspotted

I don't think it's affected them. It's never stopped me from playing with them or anything.

They are very confident kids that don't really care about outsider opinions.

They've never said anything about my weight negatively.

It's an interesting question.

I guess I would have to ask them!

NcHere · 10/09/2019 09:52

@GertrudeCB. Yes that is a concern but I'll have to face that when the time comes. For now I'm just thinking about losing it. I'll deal with not putting it back on when the time comes.

Jumble you hit the nail on the head.

I think the gastric band thing was one of my moments too.

When (under another MN username) I was complaining about my weight and someone suggested that.

I googled it and was shocked to find out I qualified.

That was a real shock.

Congratulations on your weight loss so farFlowers

FGS why is my smiley emoji a chocolate bar?! Seems I can't escape it now I can't have it 😅

Jumblebee · 10/09/2019 10:31

It's strange isn't it? I always thought the people who qualified for a gastric band were the morbidly obese, in my head I never thought I was "that big" or thought I wouldn't let myself get like that, and there I was! I suppose I have always thought in my head I looked a lot smaller than I was.

How are you getting on with your weight exercises? I enjoy weights but still seem to struggle with 2kg weights, apparently I have the upper body strength of a toddler! Do you follow any particular routines on YouTube or anything?

NcHere · 10/09/2019 18:34

I'm joining the gym this week Grin

Posting on here has driven me even more so.
