Without sounding nasty, what on earth were you eating to get so big?

Wiltshirelass2019 · 09/09/2019 17:37

Yeah I’ve found when I put on weight I get hot really easily. Best of luck with the rest of your weight loss. You can do it 😊👍

SausageSimon · 09/09/2019 17:37

I'm interested to know what you were eating OP.

I've got 2-3 stone to lose and I really can't bring myself to get started, I'm a binge eater and feel very down at the minute so I haven't a chance right now

NcHere · 09/09/2019 17:39

Everything. 🤷‍♀️

Instead of having a chocolate bar I would buy a 4 pack and eat all of them.
I'd get a share bag or multipack of crisps.
I'd have a lot of jam on toast.

I'd make meals, eat mine. Have 2nds and finish what the kids didn't eat.

I was an emotional eater and I would binge if I felt sad, which I feel almost constantly.

Food was my only source of comfort.

EggysMom · 09/09/2019 17:39

Do you like crisps?
What was your favourite takeaway?
Grin

GertrudeCB · 09/09/2019 17:40

Are you doing Cambridge?

NcHere · 09/09/2019 17:41

I'd cook meals for the kids and order myself a takeaway. I ate alot of McDonald's as its cheap and convenient when I was out.

I ate alot of bread, pasta, chips etc..

Dirtyjellycat · 09/09/2019 17:42

One stone per month is amazing. You’re doing brilliantly - I hope you’re giving yourself some non-goody treats to give yourself a pat on the back.

NcHere · 09/09/2019 17:43

Eggys 😂

I love crisps. Don't miss them right now though.
My face takeaway was a curry. But I'd have all the trimmings. Poppadoms, naan, chips, onion bahji, samosas...

Looking back its gross (not as an occasional meal)

I think what I find repulsive was my lack of self control rather than the food.
Any food is 'ok' in moderation.

I had no concept of that.

NcHere · 09/09/2019 17:45

Gertrude. No, Exante, which is the same sort of thing (shakes, meals and bars) but without the 1 to 1 consultant and a lower price tag. Couldn't afford Cambridge.

Congrats on losing the weight, that’s fab. Well done

For those using my fitness pal.com I did and they got hacked and now I’ve got some greedy fucker telling me to pay up or he’ll share my info. I dont really care about that, just the fact that mfp.com let me down by having such a crap security system and got hacked. Just mentioning in case anyone used the same password for that and say their bank. Change it now.

BuildBuildings · 09/09/2019 17:47

I couldn't afford to pay for surgery either! I'm having mine through the NHS. I actually never thought about it then my GP suggested it. I was very resistant but went along to the appointments. This actually made me think I'd go through with it. As there were some very overweight and unwell people at the groups. It made me worry that if I'm not able to lose weight on my own I could get other health problems. Are you very hungry on the vlc diet?

NcHere · 09/09/2019 17:47

Dirty, today I'm wearing a new dress i bought myself (only a black skater dress that was like 6 quid) but it's an 18 rather than a 20/22.

And it's not tight Shock

I also ordered myself a handbag and purse

I'm slowly starting to take an interest in my appearance again.

Though it will be a good few stone before I venture clothes shopping.

NcHere · 09/09/2019 17:50

Build what a lovely GP! Congrats. Mine have always been very dismissive. I think I'd be too scared for surgery. I'm a wuss.

I'm not hungry no, I'm in ketosis now and it really squashes your hunger.

I guess bored is a more accurate description of my diet at the moment but I've had years of eating tasty fatty food.

This is my penance 😂

Eleiza that's awful!! I did have MFP but got rid of it a while ago.
Awful on their part.

2 stone is good. I seem to get stuck at about 1 stone 4 loss

NcHere · 09/09/2019 17:54

Also on the subject of what I was eating to get so big...

I always over ate at 13/14stone but I never binged really as I felt embarrassed in front of my kids dad, he was very slim.

When I got HUGE it was because my new partner had no shame in buying shit.

I was always too embarrassed to loaf my basket with goodies, I could imagine what people were thinking. But my new partner didn't care. They would go and spend a fortune on sugary shit and crisps and we would eat it all.

If I fancied something nice they would bring back 6 nice things. And I would eat all of them :(

We just got fat together.

OP posts:
NcHere · 09/09/2019 17:55

Load*. Not loaf.

Freudian slip there 😂 Carbsss 🤣

Thank you for answering questions about this, I understand it might not be easy.

I’m from a family of overweight/obese adult women but being born into it meant I never really saw the process of them putting on weight, nor did they ever mention the weight or attempt to lose it - it just wasn’t mentioned. That’s fine, as it means I wasn’t surrounded by negativity or diets etc but I knew well that the women were wearing dress sizes in the 18-22 range. Exercise was never mentioned either, come to think of it, I never witnessed any family member choose to undertake any exercise at all and it wasn’t until I was in my 20s myself I realised it could be enjoyable.

Anyway, to my question. It’s about clothes. When and how do you buy larger ones, when putting on weight? My weight fluctuates by up to a stone, which is fine, but when I get toward my upper end my clothes get tight and I don’t feel comfortable any more, which is when I eat a bit less and move a bit more until they fit properly again. What I can’t understand is the process of deciding to go out and buy bigger clothes. When and how does that happen? What do you do with the smaller ones? Do you buy new things in all sizes all at once - if I put on/lost any more than my stone I would need all new pants, bras, nightwear, workwear, daywear, exercise clothes, outerwear, when I have a wardrobe full of perfectly good things. I might just be being tight because I’ve got 20+ year old wardrobe items. I guess I wonder how sizing up and down a whole wardrobe works. It’s annoying enough to have changed shoe size with pregnancies.

NcHere · 09/09/2019 18:13

I'm not really fashionable so I don't have a lot of clothes.

I have worn leggings for years so the large ones stretched till I nough some XL ones. 4 quid a pop, thanks primarni.

I wear baggy tshirts or h&m black dresses.

I have goodies that I bought when 14stish that I bought Extra big to hide in and not they fit still. Just more snug.

So I never really went and bought a new wardrobe.
I just made do and bought very cheap items and oversized hoodies

OP posts:
NcHere · 09/09/2019 18:15

Sorry Hoodies*

I say I'm not fashionable. I'm not anymore.

I used to be.

I live 50s rockabilly fashion and am quite goth too.

I get excited about what I will be able to wear soon :)

I've bought a size 16 dress for Halloween.

My next goal is to wear that.

Loving the honesty! Crisps are my downfall. I figure I've put the weight on over thirty years, so losing it won't be an overnight miracle ... One thing I would say is that my "full sensor" finally kicked in when I turned 50. I never felt full before then, so would overload my plate. Now I struggle with a basic takeaway (single portion curry & rice & naan) and end up having it over two meals.

NcHere · 09/09/2019 18:56

Also I would buy clothes online from plus size shops and because of their generous fit I would think 'I'm OK. I'm in a 16/18'

When in reality, on the highstreet i would need a 22/24.

OP posts:
NcHere · 09/09/2019 18:57

@EggysMom I didn't have a full sensor at all. Nope. And if I did my fatty brain over rode it!

That's really good though. Portion control is a huge part of it.
