I’m a Manager at McDonalds

I’ve worked for McDonalds for several years in different stores and have received personal awards for my customer service. I never initially wanted to become a manager, however with the support and encouragement of my business manager I went through the crew development programme to become one.

So... AMA?

Not RTFT so sorry I'd been asked before but why is the veggie provision so poor? My 3 children are all veggie and there's very little for them. Carrot sticks aren't going to fill them up and fish isn't vegetarian!

I personally hate McDonald's because most I've been subjected too are full of teenage scallies causing trouble Do you find that a lot?

Why are groups of teens allowed to loiter around McDonalds when there's usually 6 or more of them and only 1 or 2 of them have a drink and that's it?

PLEASE could McChicken Premieres be brought back, in a promotion or something? Please?? Pretty please??? I am still upset that they were discontinued, and have never liked the Legends which replaced them so much. Why were they discontinued?

What level of management are you if you don’t mind me asking? I work in a rival fast food restaurant and there are 4 levels- shift manager (hourly paid) assistant manager (salaried), senior assistant and restaurant manager.

I read the description of the shift duties and it is similar to my restaurant but managers (and staff) are always running about like headless chickens. In my local mcds (which is very good) there are always loads of managers and staff compared to us.

Also do you have to work unpaid overtime? Salaried managers seems to work hours of unpaid overtime in my workplace. For instance, my senior assistant manager earns about 25k per year but does god knows hours per week, she’s been known to start at 6am and not leave until 11pm. My work is pretty bad though...

Why can't I get breakfast food from the 24 hour one at 5.00am? Why is it 'too early'?

Since it's turned in to what we miss - I used to love flat Fanta, I like issue but it's in no way the same and can be bought everywhere technically it was more of an orange squash, but it didn't taste like it, it tasted like Fanta

Back to the AMA - Which ages or groups are generally the worst - way they treat the staff, leaving everything on the table etc

Are the beef burgers still made from cow meat in the U.K.? As in female cattle. I know they used to be as U.K. beef has been banned in USA since 1976.
Does it annoy you that there is not more promotion of the Ronald McDonald charity in the U.K.? I have a daughter with cerebral palsy, grown up now, but I found during the many times we spent in hospitals when she was a child that they had donated to every one. Usually to provide facilities to enable parents to stay in hospital with their child.

Still Fanta was lovely, I also miss root beer.

What is the most popular promotion? I’m guessig monopoly? I personally love Taste of America and probably have a McD every week until it’s over, the Chicago stack was awsome.

Is your store franchised or still a part of the McDonalds company?

Myself and DP both worked for a franchisee (5 and 10 years respectively) and we can both honestly say that our experience were completely different to what you have said here - particularly in relation to coming in to the company at a higher level, manager attitudes to crew, and the whole caring about your staff thin

@IamReginaFalange you might be interested in this article about the monopoly stickers. There was massive fraud involving quite a bit more than staff stealing the stickers!

Omg they were my absolute favourite too!

Whybdo you put so much ice in the drink? Many people don’t know but they actually by the coke syrup and add it to carbonated water that’s why it doesn’t taste the same as the coke you buy in the shops. But why is it also really flat?

A store shift manager would never have so much information about the corporate goings on, ie new product lines.

That level of information is simply not shared so far downstream.

I agree. I was suspicious about the standard of spelling and punctuation in OP’s replies. Atypically good and consistent for an hourly paid McD’s employee....
