I mentioned her nationality because I worked with a Romanian woman who was adopted from one of those god forsaken orphanages and raised here. she was a very difficult colleague, but even I could see the impact od her early years. She landed up in crisis, went no contact with her family, lost her job and landed in a hostel. It was terrible, that’s why I mentioned it because of if I see a mentally ill middle aged romanian woman I just assume they have been raised in a broken country. I realise this is all projection but commenting on nationality doesn’t automatically make you anti immigration.

You're quite right. The idea that someone's nationality is irrelevant is just ridiculous. It all helps to build a picture of what's going on. From the surname, the woman is clearly Eastern European, and the other details that have emerged suggest a troubled woman with mental health problems.

SwirlyGates · 06/08/2026 14:43

I haven't seen any mention of a trans identity in the press, but a lot of comments from the public seem to think the offender is a man. I'm not saying that it's true, just that many people, and not just the posters on here, are speculating about it.

AStonedRose · 06/08/2026 14:49

This thread is shocking.

This is the exact cognate of other parts of the hard right presuming every assault or rape is probably committed by a Muslim. Deliberately stoking up of fear.

any yes, I’ve read the thread and understand the flimsy defence of ‘but trans people made us do it’. As some of the more sensible regulars here have recognised, it doesn’t wash.

its possible to think people can’t change biological sex, that males shouldn’t be in women’s prisons, etc (and I think both those things) without resorting to this level of casual hatred

No, it's about lack of trust in the MSM.

It's not 'trans people made us do it's. It's the BBC etc that have lost trust by misleading the public.

Wanting to be able to trust the media to accurately report the sex of offenders is not unreasonable.

SodThisHeadache · 06/08/2026 15:07

Do the scolders have no idea that accusations of being right wing, hateful, vile, Farage-supporters bla de bla are just like water off a duck's back?

You keep flinging accusations and names and we'll continue discussing .

I don't care if you're shocked. I don't care. It never stopped us talking before, and it won't stop us now.

Men aren't women, even men with special identities, and the media have been complicit in the propaganda that they are.

murasaki · 06/08/2026 15:11

I find it very amusing to be called right wing when in 30 years of voting, Labour is the furthest right I've ever voted for....

Also, if you're all hoarding that right wing cash we're allegedly getting, lend me a tenner... 🤣

Well quite. Some people seem to think this thread is a good opportunity to leap on and call people transphobes when actually we were talking about false reporting in the media and how that has led to instinctive initial mistrust.

I can see that it is very disappointing that the thread they want doesn't exist.

TransParentlyAnnoyed · 05/08/2026 21:22

Please. Transvestigation is your equivalent of asking what colour the attacker was.

Being obsessed with a minority, vilifying and creating panic about them, isn't activism.

Don’t be ridiculous, men aren’t a minority. And it is scurrilous for anyone to pretend that a crime committed by a male has been done by a woman. Least of all by the police, or the state, which are supposed to have standards in public life. Truth being one. You couldn’t go around assigning crimes from any other cohort of people to another without there being an outcry.

It’s the damn lies.

I haven't seen any hatred, casual or otherwise, on the thread. Crimes like this are rare, thankfully, and when they occur they are overwhelmingly likely to be committed by men. Once upon a time it wouldn't have occurred to us that the BBC and other media would report someone as a woman if they were known to be a man, so we would have read this story and thought "horrifying, and very very unusual for a woman to do it". After several years of mainstream media overtly lying to us about this and official stats getting distorted, we have become less inclined to believe them immediately when they tell us a woman committed crimes that are usually committed by men. If this had been a lie, it wouldn't have been the first time.

What do you think is the moral of the boy who cried wolf? It's not that the village people were bigots who casually hated wolves. Keep lying and eventually people will stop trusting you; it's not rocket science. Whose fault is that and what has hatred to do with it?

Re the execution of litter louts, would this be by hanging, electric chair or lethal injection?

Re the choice of car of phone being crushed, phone of course, it's a no brainer given the ease and cost of replacement of a phone v a car.

Whichever is cheapest. I'm not a monster.

Depends if you actually own either.

Let's explain it in really simple terms for the hard of understanding:

  1. The overwhelming majority of violent attacks, particularly those that take place in public spaces, are carried out by men.
  2. For a woman to carry out such an attack is extremely unusual.
  3. The media has a record of telling us that a particular act of violence or sexual violence has been carried out by a woman when it has, in fact, been carried out by a man.
  4. In other words, the media frequently lies to us about the sex of an offender.
  5. Therefore, when the media tells us that an attack has been carried out by a woman, the instinctive reaction of many people is to wonder if the media is lying.

Is that really that difficult to grasp? Is there anything I can do to make it easier for you?
