As others have pointed out, the initial speculation was because of the many examples of dishonest reporting on similar subjects. Then, we've seen a few posters calling others bigots and scare-mongers, pretending that it doesn't matter, as only a small number of men LARP as women.

In prison, more than half of those LARPERS are incarcerated for sexual and violent crimes against children and women, compared to about 18% of the general prison population.

A small, but significant number of men, recorded as women, skew the statistics and have resulted in scarce resources being diverted to the wrong places.

This week, chroniclelive (Newcastle local paper) has reported that 4 women forced their way into the house of another woman and beat and kicked her. One of the defendants photographed is very evidently a man.

If you cannot see how that is a distortion of the truth and far from honest, open reporting, then I'm unable to help.

I can totally see the reason for scepticism about the reporting, but I'd also wait for more details to come out and to be sure of the facts before posting online about this and similar incidents.

Which tells me that crime statistics are not reported accurately which makes it difficult to analyse the data. This is a particular problem when numbers are very small, because misreporting of sex has a disproportionate impact on crime statistics.

nicepotoftea · 06/08/2026 07:23

But Sinnerboy just explained all that in the post before yours, so perhaps your post is not in good faith.

We did. At one point it was the only relatively mainstream place we knew of where you could say that men aren't women and women don't have dicks and not get silenced and banned for it. I think you did still get deleted if you used correct sex pronouns though, and I believe a couple of brave truth tellers remain banned.

You lot shouldn't have come down so hard with the censoring and character assassinations and NO DEBATE every time a woman requested a single sex space to shower, change or have rape counselling, or expressed concern about fucking up the bodies of vulnerable autistic children. We understand why you did; you were forcing a false premise that you knew was totally untrue and wouldn't hold up if anyone was allowed to speak freely and honestly - but it was a stupid move because literally nobody believes it including you. Why should you, when it's so patently false?

Your best bet is to campaign for third spaces. The law, public opinion and reality itself isn't on your side here. You forced people to lie in public for years, you've only yourselves to blame if people are now sceptical until the truth is confirmed. If you actually wanted a better world for trans identified people you'd see what you've done and try to put it right but you won't, because it's all about your own self image... and you can't admit you've been dishonest and counter productive, or that your ideology has caused harm.

‘Hysterically partisan’? I think you’re mistaking the BBC for Daily Mail or the Sun.

It’s sadly true that on these issues the Mail and the Sun (and others of their ilk) are more honest and reliable than the BBC.

What change in law?

The Supreme Court's decision on the definition of a woman, I think.

Which was a clarification of the law, not a change to it. That's always been the law, it was just misapplied.

Another here whose first thought was to doubt the veracity of the reports. And that's the point of the thread, @Velvera ; not what the actual sex of the assailant is, but that the hysterically partisan and dishonest reporting of the BBC over the last 15 years have left us unable to trust that it won't prioritise its proselytising editorial stance over the truth.

Yes. It’s very sad because the BBC used to be totally reliable (as far as I know) and had a superb reputation internationally.
The fact that I had to add “as far as I know” shows how much it has deteriorated.
Now, I check against another source if the news item is anything to do with a subject I know they’ve misled me on in the past, genderism for example.

Seriestwo · 06/08/2026 11:16

Rumours persist. The bbc has broken the contract it created with us - that we should trust it. x.com/basilthegreat/status/2085289609458549134?s=46

Seriestwo · 06/08/2026 11:22

Locals say she is an unwell woman from Romania who has been around the area and the hostel for a long time. She was easily brought down by the police.

apparently 47, so of an age when Romania was in dire straits with people surrendering their babies to orphanages because they couldn’t afford to feed them. And those places did nothing more than feed the babies. All of whom will have lifelong and significant consequences of trauma.

So, of the rumours are true she’s got a significant history of mental illness, is homeless, has addictions and is steadily living in this area with locals being aware of her sufficiently to recognise her.

and she really likes her vape.

the point on this thread isn’t whether the perpetrator who stabbed four men was a woman - it is that thousands of commenters do not trust the bbc to accurately report a multiple stabbing in the middle of the day I the. Middle of our capital city. That’s a problem.

GreyskySexRealistsky · 06/08/2026 11:25

I'd be wary of anything BasilTheGreat says on X. And that in itself proves the point of this thread. People feel they can't trust the BBC so look elsewhere for information. That information may be wrong, untrustworthy.

BBC lying has created a vacuum.
Police lying has created a vacuum.

Mainly because St Mungo's the homeless charity, is at the end of Endell Street.

A few years ago, you used to see Fadi, George Michael's ex boyfriend, hanging out in this area as I think he had addiction/homelessness problems. I remember giving him some money.

You only see police on the streets these days if the Royals/MPs/Sadiq Khan are doing something or there is a protest, otherwise traditional policing of a bobby on the beat is very, very rare in London these days.

Charing Cross is full of homeless people, which makes me angry when you think that only a short distance away are completely out of touch and overpaid politicians, and the cavorting Royals... Camilla with her new frocks. It is sad that we live in such an unequal society.

London has certainly declined in the last 10 years or so. Only last week I was walking to the station after work, around 10.30pm and a rickshaw driver practically knocked me down. I threw myself out of the way and fell as a result. He didn't even stop! It feels totally lawless these days. Luckily, although I'm almost 60, I still consider myself quite robust!

I dovn't live in London but visit frequently as i have family there and find it no better and no worse than the city I live in. I also go to Manchester fairly often and feel the same. Every large city and some smaller one will have their issues, homelessness, substance dependence, poor mental health are everywhere. The area I live in has a lot of supported housig for people with complex needs and it can feel quite intimidating at times with open drug dealing and begging. We have very busy roads round here and there is one notorious crossing where the drivers jump the red lights all time, I was nearly hit a few weeks ago so I do empathise with you about the rickshaw driver. It is just the ways things are now sadly in busy inner cities.

What on earth has Nigel Farage got to do with it??!

The Sunday Sport is more accurate on this topic than the BBC! Don't shoot the messenger 🤷

There have been at least two unnecessary mentions of the offenders possible nationality. Which is irrelevant to their sex and the reporting in this case thus far.

It may well emerge in investigation that the offenders nationality is a key part of understanding the criminal case that appears to be unfolding.

But until then it's just a waste of electrons adding to climate change.

OP posts:
Seriestwo · 06/08/2026 12:38

I mentioned her nationality because I worked with a Romanian woman who was adopted from one of those god forsaken orphanages and raised here. she was a very difficult colleague, but even I could see the impact od her early years. She landed up in crisis, went no contact with her family, lost her job and landed in a hostel. It was terrible, that’s why I mentioned it because of if I see a mentally ill middle aged romanian woman I just assume they have been raised in a broken country. I realise this is all projection but commenting on nationality doesn’t automatically make you anti immigration.

Skodacool · 06/08/2026 12:58

@SerendipityJane ‘There have been at least two unnecessary mentions of the offenders possible nationality. Which is irrelevant to their sex and the reporting in this case thus far.

That’s because Nigel Farage and others have complained that the police have withheld information about the alleged offenders’ nationality and immigration status. That’s in their quest to claim that all migrants are dangerous criminals.
Farage also claims that the media misreport him, which is relevant to this thread.

I hate Farage and I dislike the Mail but I am so, so sick of people trying to shut stuff down by calling it Farage or Mail and thinking that's all it takes to rebut it. Not only is it so, so lazy, but if you insist on lying about sex and objective reality, it really is your fault that you chose to make these people the truth tellers and yourself the master of Newspeak, doublethink and just plain lies. Stop making them the ones who are right and blaming everyone else for it. It's not noble or virtuous.

YesterdaysFuture · 06/08/2026 13:45

So we're back in the situation where the police and media should withhold information because it doesn't fit with someone's political leanings. This time the person's nationality should be withheld. Perhaps they should withhold age and sex too?

Withholding the truth is just as bad a lying. All of these facts are important for understanding the context.

She's been charged

Stella Gollovena, of no fixed address, was charged with four counts of wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm and one count of possession of an offensive weapon in a public place.
