If he loses his medical licence even for a couple of months they will care as he wont be able to practice medicine anywhere in the world and it'll make his visa invalid

I hope he does get struck off.

Thats my aim. After what he said in that tribunal about treating non consenting women imho he belongs in jail not working in a hospital

From a quick google:
UK "strike off" (erasure from the General Medical Council register) does not automatically result in an automatic strike off in Australia. Medical registration is handled independently by country. However, the Australian regulator (Ahpra) will be notified or investigate, and they can choose to suspend or cancel the doctor's Australian registration based on that misconduct.
I assume he would have to be registered in Australia, in order to practice. I am not convinced Australia would be bothered, which is presumably why he went there.

The GMC only has jurisdiction in the UK, and doctors can and do work abroad while suspended here. His family seem to be wealthy and connected, and can no doubt hire him a lawyer if needed. Eg: mdsuk.org/suspension/

Currently, no claims are upheld against Upton, and he will likely have worked in Australia for over a year before the appeal decisions are made. He will need to keep his head down and work hard, and that will probably not be easy for him, but he will not suffer in the short term.

Do you mean in the tribunal or with the gmc because the gmc are refusing to investigate him whilst the tribunal case is still going through the crts

Yes I meant that as no claims have been upheld, there is nothing substantial for the GMC to investigate, and there probably won't be any new outcome for the next year.

When is Peggie vs RCN due to be heard and is there the opportunity to observe remotely?

I have emailed to ask for the case number and details of how to request remote access to the hearing. Will post the response when I get it.

From the Courier piece, it sounds as though the witnesses for Peggie will be vv interesting!

"An ex-RCN employee is set to appear as a witness for Ms Peggie.

The nurse’s legal team is also putting forward two other women who are suing the trade union over alleged gender critical discrimination."

sounds like Jennifer Melle and/or the Darlington nurses may appear but I wonder if that could lead to the arguments that its "a different health board", "different country", "different situation"...from the respondents.

I imagine that Jennifer Melle & the Darlington nurses will be able to give evidence that they were not supported by the RCN either showing that it’s an endemic problem with the RCN refusing to support GC members & not just a local issue for Sandie Peggie. The RCN cannot blame Sandie’s treatment on a rogue local rep when it’s clear the RCN is institutionally biased against GC members.

I've noticed 'boring' being used dismissively in other contexts too -
if you [one] find things that matter deeply, personally, ethically and professionally to other people 'boring' it says more about you than about the issue, doesn't it?
Words like 'shallow' and 'unable to see past your own nose' suggest themselves to me.

'I haven't followed the case which I personally find difficult and complicated, so I'm going to leave it to the people involved to pursue the matter to a fair and equitable conclusion'

I remember a discussion at school about whether the week started on Sunday or Monday. It’s partly religious, but there were arguments for both.
That was a long time ago, though.
