Good to see that the press continues to pick up on attempts to silence free speech.

The Times are doing a sterling job. As is The Spectator.

And there are two sentences I never saw myself using a couple of years ago. Funny times we are living in.

Dragoncake · 23/07/2018 08:06

That's a good article.

My only quibble would be that it kicks off saying that WPUK was targeted by transsexual activists, which I think wasn't the case. They are transgender activists. Transsexuals are usually also concerned about transgender overreach.

Wanderabout · 23/07/2018 08:06

Great article. Glad interference in the democratic process is being reported on, it's a vitally important subject.

BoreOfWhabylon · 23/07/2018 08:08

And they've outed Mimmymum! AhahahahahahHahahahah!

Shame they didn't mention her links with Mermaids. Hopefully someone will in the comments.

Melamin · 23/07/2018 08:14

Ah yes, the paramilitary wing of the fishy tailed school Wink

Melamin · 23/07/2018 08:17

SingeBuggerCack · 23/07/2018 08:43

Also a shame they didn’t mention the fake account and stolen photograph.

ReluctantCamper · 23/07/2018 08:48

Great quotes from Judith Green - We regard it as a fairly serious interference in democratic discussion

Will really help times readers understand why this is important

Indierockandroll · 23/07/2018 09:00

Excellent. Just wish they'd named Mermaids.

FashionTheLook · 23/07/2018 09:03

And they've outed Mimmymum! AhahahahahahHahahahah!

I suspect the right-wing press are slowly introducing the public to the situation of parents and the NHS inducing illness in children via drugs because they are gender non conforming.

LemonJello · 23/07/2018 09:07

They have set up the link to mermaids cautiously but so that it is on the record and ready for the inevitable further clashes with the rights of women and girls. I think it’s nicely done.
Keep going Helen @mimmymum, you’re giving such a good demonstration of how your ideology is antithetical to the rights of women and girls, it’s almost like you’re secretly gender critical! Flowers

RussiaRussia · 23/07/2018 09:10

Plenty of HCPs have induced illness and death in patients.

Bumbungo · 23/07/2018 09:28

Ah @mimmymum AKA Helen Aslan, marketing admin and 'volunteer' for Mermaids. She also advocates hacking twitter accounts and abuses people on twitter.

Indierockandroll · 23/07/2018 09:35

Well she's certainly a marketer who's raised the profile of her employer (yes I know she's a volunteer).

I'm not sure all publicity is good publicity Helen.

R0wantrees · 23/07/2018 10:11

Extract from Times article:

"The clampdown coincided with a message posted on Twitter by @mimmymum, whose profile said it belonged to “Helen”, an “intersectional cis feminist” who is “passionate about acceptance for transgender people & trans kids, equality & making the world a better place”. “Cis” is a term used for people who identify their gender as the same as the body they were born in."

Tea Uglow's support for Mermaids and especially Mimmymum is interesting:
"Tea Uglow is the creative director at Google’s Creative Lab in Sydney. She works with both cultural and creative organisations across the globe exploring the space between technology and the arts and what can happen when they intersect. Her impressive output spans everything from responsive and reactive reading interfaces to immersive, 360-degree performances. She is also a transgender woman. To celebrate International Women’s Day, It’s Nice That got in touch with Tea to find out her opinions on representation and intersectionality within the creative industries."

BoreOfWhabylon · 23/07/2018 10:17

Well, well, well. That is interesting R0wan

Indierockandroll · 23/07/2018 10:21

Shit! Another one of those 'oh that wouldn't happen/you're being paranoid' moments we get accused of.

R0wantrees · 23/07/2018 10:25

Back in March when Tea Uglow was over in the UK for the Barbican event (and wrote the Guardian article above) she tweeted about a connection Lily Madigan.

Goodness, what a love fest that twitter snippet is!

AngryAttackKittens · 23/07/2018 10:27

That linking of Mermaids to the more deranged side of trans activism was so cleverly done that I suspect they plan to follow up on it in later articles. They know that readers who look up Mimmymum will join the dots.

LaSquirrel · 23/07/2018 10:27

It would be worthwhile to get in touch with Dominic Kennedy to point out the correction needed - transsexual > transgender.
