They’re hosting a Women Making History March and guess who’s hosting it?

Shon, who gloatingly told a woman recently to ‘enjoy your erasure’.

I came here to see if anyone had spotted this. Not ‘Women Making History’, more ‘Making Women History’.

Worth complaining to Amnesty but I fear as an org they’re beyond listening. Firmly on the wrong side

wishiwassizeeight · 12/05/2018 17:00

I agree, they are not interested in what women think. I will continue to sign petitions on their behalf but will not give them another penny - DH is cancelling his direct debit after 20 years and will direct it to an organisation that respects and centres women.

this transwomen are women stuff isn't helping anyone. If being gender monconforming is so important then why not be proud of being transwomen and promote their differences and uniqueness. Why can't Amnesty have a trans day for them and there be LGBT lists for Labour?
No-one wins here. It is putting trans acceptance back several years

I have up after Amnesty decided full legalisation of prostitution was their position.

sydarthur · 12/05/2018 20:17

I emailed Amnesty about this. I made my concern specifically regarding Shon's behaviour towards women on Twitter, "enjoy your erasure", and harrassing women with whom she disagreed. I received a rather patronising reply, which assumed I had questioned the appropriatess of a trans host (I did no such thing) and explaining that they saw no evidence trans rights led to increased violence againat women (an issue I did not raise) and that there is a place for transwomen in feminism (I did not say there wasn't) and informing me that "feminism is an ever evolving project". I replied, pointing out that I was disappointed to see such a misreading of my email, that I did support the rights of trans people, that my corncern was not to do with trans people, but Shon Faye, and that it was troubling that they should conflate criticism of her with opposition to trans rights. They have yet to get back to me. I'm not holding my breath.

wishiwassizeeight · 12/05/2018 20:59

That reply doesn’t surprise me sydarthur. It was probably a cut and paste job they pre-prepared for the nasty transphobes complaining about stunning and brave Shon.

Meanwhile in Scotland, Amnesty’s programme director dismissed gender critical feminists as ‘wankers’

Why can't Amnesty have a trans day for them and there be LGBT lists for Labour?

In practise nowadays, LGBT usually equals trans Hmm. Lesbians don't get a look-in.

The Conservative LGBT committee are all biological males, but that's ok because gender identity.

AngryAttackKittens · 13/05/2018 07:02

So Amnesty already had a cut and paste response at the ready? Which means that they knew women would complain, and are indeed thumbing their nose at us.

wishiwassizeeight · 13/05/2018 07:05

Yes to me it feels like they are openly taking the piss. Fuck you women. We’re having a day all about women making history and we’re getting a nasty misogynistic man to host it and there’s fuck all you can do about it.

Aside re ferntwist - if you were going to change your name from Sean to something similar but less masculine, why not Sian? I don't understand.

FrameyMcFrame · 13/05/2018 07:33

Doesn't surprise me that Amnesty have done this. They're just another group of brocialiats who think paying for sex from trafficked humans is not in direct contravention of their human rights.

I've been looking sideways at Amnesty since the Gita Saghal debacle. While I support its continuing action for prisoners of conscience I'm minded to cut my subscription after this and donate only to specific campaigns. And to tell them why.
