They’re hosting a Women Making History March and guess who’s hosting it?

Shon, who gloatingly told a woman recently to ‘enjoy your erasure’.

There's an article in Rolling Stone that outlines the arguments against it quite neatly.

2rebecca · 14/05/2018 18:39

Why do Amnesty need an LGBT group? They are an anti-torture and wrongful imprisonment pressure group not a political party. Do you really have a different view on this depending on who you sleep with?

Ereshkigal · 14/05/2018 18:49

Amnesty also did something else bad a while back, to do with 'sex workers' didn't they? Can anyone jog my memory?)

Yes they let more than one pimp or trafficker shape their policy. And decided that the right to have and sell sex (including for third parties i.e. pimps/traffickers) is a human right such as the right to life or not to be imprisoned for political views, and fully support the decriminalisation of prostitution.

Some interesting info and links in this article:

Thanks for the information everyone, off to write my email.

Signed.

Someone on a FB group I’m in called Amnesty to complain today. She was very nervous and called Shon ‘he’. The idiot handmaiden on the phone told her that she would end the call if it happened again.

The hideous irony of an organisation like Amnesty, and all they stand for, silencing women for speaking the truth.

Today from Amnesty LBGTI. We are not women any more. Just ‘these people’ whose ‘time have passed’.

No words.

AsAProfessionalFekko · 14/05/2018 19:51

I wonder who she spoke to?

I would have loved to have been in that staff meeting when they discussed the Important Topics - torture, war rape, false imprisonment abroad, executions, child soldiers... and, of course, the hurty feelings of certain people.

I'dve handed in my badge.

AncientLights · 14/05/2018 19:55

'These people whose time has passed'??? Is that us, women?

Speechless.

YetAnotherSpartacus · 14/05/2018 19:57

Yeah, that didn't make sense. What was the context?

Radical feminists I guess. But "women" would go with the "making women history" theme.

AncientLights · 14/05/2018 20:27

I can't see the Twitter link. Are AI like the LibDems Twitter account in that they are viewed as 'outsourced' & not the responsibility of the main organisation? Kiss of death if so I think.

MrsFogi · 14/05/2018 20:35

I will be on the look out for Amnesty chuggers to peak-trans about this.

AsAProfessionalFekko · 14/05/2018 20:40

They weren't out today - it was someone else (animal charity I think) .... I will keep an eye out though.

YourVagesty · 14/05/2018 21:02

Signed.

I cannot believe where we are, i'm just...speechless

Ereshkigal · 14/05/2018 21:21

I am actually looking forward to the next unfortunate Amnesty chugger to cross my path.

R0wantrees · 14/05/2018 22:05

link to the Rolling Stone article mentioned at the top of the page:
www.rollingstone.com/politics/news/6-reasons-to-be-wary-of-amnestys-prostitution-policy-20160601

concludes,
"Amnesty's proposal perverts human-rights and women's-rights principles. It sacrifices the concerns and welfares of the vast majority of prostitutes, who are caught in an exploitative and brutal industry. As a result, Amnesty has staked out a position that will be a boon to pimps and sex traffickers, and will do great damage to the human rights of the men, women and children caught in the sex industry."

ArcheryAnnie · 14/05/2018 22:10

....and of course Laurie Penny steps in with her important thoughts.

Signed. (And it's over 1k now.)

If I have time on Saturday i will go hand in a letter to my local Amnesty bookshop. I would be so ashamed to be working there (they are good people) and having national Amnesty do this in my name.

MipMipMip · 14/05/2018 22:26

Signed.Angry

redshoeblueshoe · 14/05/2018 22:27

Signed

Writersblock2 · 14/05/2018 22:31

Rage! Signed. Amnesty lost me when they voted for the legalisation of prostitution. How bloody dare they? We matter, damn you! And we aren’t shutting up.

wishiwassizeeight · 14/05/2018 22:38

It’s like we are inhabiting a horrible parallel universe where the organisations like Labour and Amnesty are now openly showing their contempt and hatred for women and stamping out independent speech and thought. Nightmarish.
