They’re hosting a Women Making History March and guess who’s hosting it?

mobile.twitter.com/shonfaye/status/993446574498963457

Shon, who gloatingly told a woman recently to ‘enjoy your erasure’.

It’s like we are inhabiting a horrible parallel universe where the organisations like Labour and Amnesty are now openly showing their contempt and hatred for women and stamping out independent speech and thought. Nightmarish.

Exactly this. It's really awful. As a student I was a member of Amnesty, I've written letters etc. But they've lost the fucking plot with this MRA agenda - pro sexual exploitation of women and girls and pro TIM and erasure of women as an oppressed sex class.

We're just not getting it, are we. We are the people with the hurty feelings, who aren't being nice and woke and inclusive. We're cruel and hurtful to vulnerable people who will kill themselves if we aren't nice. And we seem to have contempt for ordinary women trying to earn a living in the way women know best. Shame on us. Shame. If only we were men we'd be able to see the situation clearly and dispassionately like they do.

bluescreen · 15/05/2018 04:09

BTW, not for the first time I wish we had a like button on here, wishiwas and Ereshkigal

UnderTheDesk · 15/05/2018 07:39

If I hadn’t stopped my Dd to amnesty over the sex work thing, I’d be stopping it for this. Wankers.

wishiwassizeeight · 15/05/2018 09:45

Latest from Shon.

Shon, if you’re reading this, you really, truly, won’t.

That is YOUR punishment for your hatred of women.

All this evidence, that TRAs, AI, hate women.
And yet we get policed on pronouns, in case we offend.
Bollocks.

AngryAttackKittens · 15/05/2018 10:47

If you truly believe that you're accepted as a woman everywhere you go then try asking out a straight man and see how that goes, Shon.

R0wantrees · 15/05/2018 11:44

All this evidence, that TRAs, AI, hate women.

I'm not sure the evidence is collected as well as it might be.

PlectrumElectrum · 15/05/2018 14:46

Slight tangent but this article from the guardian about AI & their problem with misogyny gives a wider context to their views on women/women's issues etc.

Don’t know how to make it clicky, but here’s a lovely link to AI talking about twitter being unsafe for women to voice their opinions, in March, this year. I thought you might appreciate the —hypocrisy— irony.

IdentifiesAsMiddleAged · 16/05/2018 23:15

"I will be accepted as a woman'

Yes, and monkeys will fly out of my butt

Pemba · 17/05/2018 04:42

Oh I see my post (only my second ever in the feminism section) has been deleted. I said something derogatory about a certain person, based on things they have done/remarks they have made, not on their gender status. And I used the pronoun 'they'. I wonder which was so offensive as to cause my post to be deleted? Or are transactivists above any criticism now?

How ridiculous. I don't appreciate the prissy wimpishness, MNHQ.

wishiwassizeeight · 17/05/2018 05:12

Oh ffs. Soooo depressing that Mumsnet are censoring women for speaking the truth.

"On this episode of TyskySour Michael Walker is joined by Ash Sarkar and Shon Faye to talk about the clusterfuck that was Channel 4’s GenderQuake debate and the state of trans rights in Britain, everyone’s favourite salted meat and whether anyone actually cares what Germaine Greer has to say anymore."

SuitedandBooted · 17/05/2018 10:54

There is a petition calling for Faye's removal as host, - it's been linked on this thread, but no harm in doing it again!

www.change.org/p/amnesty-international-uk-the-removal-of-shon-faye-as-host-of-amnesty-international-uk-s-women-making-history-event

AsAProfessionalFekko · 17/05/2018 11:52

I wonder if the other headliners at this event are aware of the controversy?

SuitedandBooted · 17/05/2018 13:48

Good point AsAProfessionalFekko

AsAProfessionalFekko · 17/05/2018 14:39

I had a nosey about the event on the booking page and the event Facebook page.

No mention of this person, and they weren't replying to questions about it on the Facebook page (just to other Qs though - not that there were many tbh).

IdentifiesAsMiddleAged · 17/05/2018 15:47

AsAProfessionalFekko

I emailed Amnesty direct and they confirmed SF is hosting

Wonder why they are keeping it on a need-to-know basis?...

Picassospaintbrush · 17/05/2018 15:52

"whether anyone actually cares what Germaine Greer has to say anymore."

A lot more than that bunch of children.

wishiwassizeeight · 17/05/2018 15:57

So even though thousands of people, mostly women, have protested Amnesty via this petition, they’re still allowing this unpleasant misogynist to host?

Right you are Amnesty.

Direct debit - cancelled

HaroldsSocalledBluetits · 17/05/2018 16:21

I am slightly amused at the irony of Amnesty ignoring a petition.

This is a disgrace though. Who are they going to get for next year? Benny Hill?

So even though thousands of people, mostly women, have protested Amnesty

I think that it may well be dismissed as an example of transphobia.

Just as the responses to some of the comments/tweets etc by LM, SF, IW etc may be collected together as proof by volume of escalating bigotry.

Sometimes the context is lost.
