This is my 3rd thread as I go from a shock diagnosis of leukaemia towards what will hopefully be a cure.

Life is shit but I am strong and there will be happy times again.

How are you, biscuits?

Feeling a bit embarrassed for not realising how full the other thread was a bit earlier!

Awake and summoning up the courage to down my delicious selection of morning medications. Its always a bit of a balance. They have to go down but if I get it wrong they may come up again and screw up my plans to eat breakfast. Evil tablets.

Great thread title biscuits, and fab OP. So glad to have found you again! Didn't want to post on last thread as I saw it approaching 1000 and wanted to give you the chance to redirect people. You were easy enough to find, thankfully

I know it's not the ideal scenario this year but I hope the little biscuits enjoy their gifts from their fabulous mum. Next year you can make it up to them by being at home & well again!

LEM, I'm pretty ignorant too but as far as I know, there are two Eids a year in the Muslim Calendar, a little one and a big one. this is the big one (is it Eid-al-Fitr?) , it's a celebration that comes at the end of Ramadan (which is a lunar month of holy stuff for Muslims: righting wrongs, praying, fasting, giving time/money to charity and spending time with friends and family). Each year Ramadan cycles forward slightly in the year, because the Muslim calendar year is lunar, so is 10/11 days shorter than the Gregorian 365-day-year calendar.

Please do correct me for any errors in the above, I'm in a multicultural area but not Muslim myself!

I was trying to type Eid Sa'id earlier, writing the i with the little line over it i.e. trying to be clever and failing miserably! but it didn't translate effectively on my phone's Mumsnet app! Sorry Biscuits!

Then a million and one other things happened here so I didn't manage to rectify it.

I think it means Happy Eid but I'm probably wrong. Anyway, the sentiment was there. I hope you've had a happier Eid than you thought you might have. Also hope it signifies the start of an upturn in fortunes for you, biscuits.

Hi biscuits! Not posted for a wee bit as am in a country where they celebrate eid! So happy eid to you too! Hope you are doing ok? Curly wutlies are a wondeful invention and a few days of them is perfectly acceptable i am sure! Hope he meds stayed down ! X

Thanks for all the Eid Messages everyone and a very accurate explanation :-)

Usually we would go to open air prayers pr the mosque first thing in the morning all dressed up in best clothes after a special breakfast.

Then we usually let the children open their prese ts before the family and friends visiting begins. When eid is in the holidays we make it special with days out and always book a few days leave around it.

Today was a little different.
I had 2 very excited little boys bundle in and wish me Eid Mubarak as I battled to hide the tears. I was connected to a drip having spiked a fever an hour before and we raced to get everything set up before they came so they wouldnt have to see me having blood taken etc.

They loved their presents. All little things but things they enjoy and they ate their eid picnic on my bed and played with their new toys. Baby r was dressed up too.. pretty dress for her first Eid.
I managed to hold it together for a couple of hours but my temp kept rising and I started throwing up and shaking so we decided it was time for the kids to go home and play there. Short story is I have neutropenic sepsis. Zero neutrophils to fight the infection and its making me really ill. The antibiotics are strong so inshallah I will be ok. Not the best eid but the children are happy so thats the main thing :-)

I'm so glad that you got to see them today, even if it was only for a short time. You must have felt so ill but you're a wonderful mum for hiding it like that. Not all would have.

We're all cheering on the antibiotics. Come back neutrophils!

Hoping things are a lot better by the morning.

You are an amazing mum for putting the children first biscuits, you are amazing! But now put yourself first, rest, let the antibiotics do their thing and get strong.

Glad to have found your new thread biscuits, I've not wanted to post on the old one as it was getting too full but I've been thinking about you.

Sorry to hear that you've had a rough day, naughty neutrophils for not helping out for your Eid celebrations with your lovely littlies. Glad to hear that they've enjoyed themselves and are happy.
