Great news for your ds @LaundryFairy

Well dd has come down in floods of tears. It will take a bit of time for her to digest the news. I think a large part of the disappointment is the uncertainty; if she had got an Oxford offer she definitely would have taken it. Now she's wondering whether she gave enough thought to her other applications. She currently has offers from Exeter, Manchester and Liverpool. Still waiting for Durham. She could well decide to take a year off and reapply. Does anyone know how you can ask for feedback?

Looks like the right place to me - and DD has ‘a fucking offer! Fuck!’ to quote herself.

She doesn’t know which college. Sitting on hands here not to say ‘it’ll be there onTrack somewhere, according to mumsnet.’

You email the college and ask for feedback direct from them. They may not give it until end of February. When asking specifically ask for the scores for each element including any aptitude test otherwise you may not be given aptitude test scores.

bendmeoverbackwards I think the school can ask for feedback (veterans of the Oxbridge rejection system here, though older siblings are being very nice about it).

@bendmeoverbackwards I'm sorry it didn't go as hoped. I'm hoping that some of the tears are relief though. This period of not knowing has been so stressful. Good that there are offers. We've heard great things about all those other universities.

bendoverbackwards she'll need to send an email to the admissions tutor of the college she applied to.

Aaand she's in. Fuck me. Shit. Kind of overwhelmed right now. No idea which college.

To all those saying no idea which college are the offers not being emailed by the actual colleges this year then?

It's really not dd's day today. Just heard from her LAMDA teacher about results of contesting her Acting exam result; it hasn't changed. She was 2 marks off a Distinction.

And I’ve just had a negative COVID test so can give her a hug now!

So sorry to hear from those whose brilliant kids have had disappointing news. It hit hard for quite a while for our older ones, so ironically dd and we were braced for it this time.

Congratulations to your DD @DahliaMacNamara - it is a lot to take in, isn't it?

@bendmeoverbackwards sending big virtual hugs (and probably some Wine later) to you. We all put so much energy into supporting our DC and it can take it out of you.

Great news for your DD @FlyingSquid (and for you re the covid test). On UCAS ere should be a campus code that you can check to see which college it is.

Thanks, bendmeoverbackwards. Your poor dd. We appealed dd’s GCSE English result without any joy (one mark off a boundary, two grades below predicted).

If anyone needs to check College codes, they are on page 6 of the prospectus here:

My DS just found out he's got Somerville. (Not his first choice, but he really loved the team who interviewed him, so he's happy).

So sorry for your DD bend. It's a really tricky one to decide what to do. DD would have been so happy to get in, she knew it so well, with her older sister having gone there. But, she will not be re-applying. She wants to get on with life, especially after this year. On this thread we know of good examples of students re-applying and getting in, but there are also others who don't, quite a few on TSR this morning, and I know of a fantastic lad who was rejected from Oxford, tried Cambridge, rejected again, and now at Durham, and happy as can be.

Trying to big up to DH the benefits of weekends down in the West Country Grin.

I’m sitting on hands again - it’s dd’s life and she needs to know her college before I do.

Might not resist for long though!
