Can I join again please paid everything for this month broken budget up so money in every 2 weeks so proper weekly amounts trying the envelope system. We hope. E Ed also and allow £25 week including transport to events and subs for educational apps.any money not used rolls over so when subs, books, courses come up the money is there. Cag not sure if you have heard of pop art education on Facebook they get amazing subs on there for home Ed. Sorry slightly off track there but know how hard fitting it in budget is.
We have gas 3 nsd due to my back which is a chronic condition and I'm very friendly with my bed and electric blanket so smart meter is being fitted Thurs am can monitor tumble at the same time.

Hello new shiny thread-placemarking for later

lifelongfrugaleer · 24/01/2018 06:22

Thanks laksa.
Nsd planned today.
Paid off the dance fees of £224 for the term.
£4 Tonight for exercise.defo swapping gyms going to £18 or £25 per month. Probably £18 as they have a car park and the other is in town so might mean parking fees. There is a free supermarket car park near by but it's my temptation shop.

Wrongwayup · 24/01/2018 06:46

Wow this moves fast. On track with January budget even including new horse rug. So fed up with the mud. Off on holiday Friday usually this is an excuse for me to go f... It. Trying not to. Only bought some new toiletries to take. ..... So far....

Fluffycloudland77 · 24/01/2018 07:14

Thanks Laska

Lego Electric blankets are really cheap to run so don't worry about that. Tumblers aren't but if you see a spin dryer on eBay snap it up & it won't take anywhere near as long to dry after 10 minutes in there. Loads of videos on YouTube show how much water they get out.

If anyone wants to join the national trust don't forget you can join the new zealend one & use it in the uk. I think you can join the Malta one too for £26 joint membership but I'm going to email Malta and check. You won't get free parking but you can buy parking badges on eBay.

Shopmium have free nespresso compatible pods, caramel flavour or something. I think you can claim one of each flavour.

frazzled3ds · 24/01/2018 07:21

New thread!

So have just been told that I am being made redundant at work. I was expecting this as I'm off sick with work-related stress and have been for some time. It's a good thing really, the redundancy, as there was no chance of me ever being able to go back to my old job. Now I can really focus on getting better and hopefully one day down the line get another, better and less stress-inducing job. But it's a good thing that we are working on reducing our outgoings as finances are going to be tight for quite some time.

mammymammyIRL · 24/01/2018 08:09

anothershirtruined sounds like it's an ease to you Flowers

AnotherShirtRuined · 24/01/2018 08:31

It really is. Apart from the financial worries, but I have a very good RL support system so I'm sure everything will be fine as long as I can get over the stress.

Fluffycloudland77 · 24/01/2018 08:52

It sounds an ideal resolution then. Are you getting redundancy pay?.

We both secretly hope Dh will get made redundant.

Cagliostro · 24/01/2018 08:57

Morning all thanks for the new thread laska :) cool title!

Hey lego glad to see another home edder, yes I love PopArt she’s amazing isn’t she doing all those deals! I’ve just signed up to DoodleMaths, Oddizzi and Day Explorer for the grand sum of £19.20 :o

I’m impressed by your rolling budget system, I would like to do something similar once we’ve moved (as we will know exactly where we stand financially with lower rent etc) but not really sure where to start with working out what we need.

I loved my electric blanket (well, undersheet) but it stopped working when I was already pregnant so I figured not safe to have one for the moment, as we are now cosleeping part of the night.

Although Cagletini has done 6.5hrs straight in her basket three nights in a row. I think I’ll keep her :)

DH is off to the funeral (DSCs’ grandmother) today, dreading it as it means seeing his mother, who he hasn’t seen for about 16 years, with very good reason. :( But the kids need him there so he’s going.

Should be NSD for me, just planning to stay in and sort stuff out/do HE things.

Cagliostro · 24/01/2018 08:58

Glad the redundancy is a positive, I ended up losing my job after a long time off sick but it was absolutely a good thing (much as I miss the job itself)

Morning all! Thanks for the new thread Laska.

AnotherShirtRuined · 24/01/2018 09:12

I will get three months' pay, possibly a bit more if my wonderful colleague (Union rep) can manage it, so we will be fine for a few months. Then we'll see.

It's funny how being fired can actually make you feel better at times!

I've been meaning to ask for a while now, seeing as I'm getting more and more into frugality, does anyone have any favourite frugal living blogs they wouldn't mind sharing? I'm looking for all the tips I can get at the moment but Google searches bring up so many results I will never get through them all.

I hope your DH doesn't have too awful a day Cag.

specialsubject · 24/01/2018 09:52

Please do not buy nt parking badges on eBay. There is frugal and there is defrauding a charity.
