To ask people to stop swearing so much

Frankly, the language of some of the posters on this site is disgusting and I wonder if they talk like this in front of their children. I also wonder if their parents would be proud of how they post on the internet. Swearing every time isn't big and it isn't clever. It makes people come across as uneducated chavs.

AIBU to ask people to clean up their act and stop swearing?

Are you being fucking serious??
Ha ha just joking...seriously there must be better things for you to worry about.

SuperMoonIsKeepingMeUpToo Mon 12-Jun-17 11:59:45

You lose the moral superiority by using the word 'chav'!

DontBuyANewMumCashmere Mon 12-Jun-17 12:00:08

It's not up to you how other people talk.
If you don't like the use of swearing on this site, don't visit it.
There are plenty of other parenting fora where swearing isn't allowed.

Sorry Mum

Swearing has been proven to help reduce stress. Many mners come on here stressed and upset wanting advice. Letting off steam among other adults is surely acceptable? Maybe a swearing tmi emoji is needed for thread titles?

QuestionableMouse Mon 12-Jun-17 12:02:10

Oh this is going to be good.

MsHooliesCardigan Mon 12-Jun-17 12:02:24

We haven't had one of these threads for at least 2 months. OP this won't go well.
I imagine you're fairly new here? Most of us like the fact that you're allowed to swear on here.

LaurieFairyCake Mon 12-Jun-17 12:03:46

It's a site for adults

No, I work in a school and don't say 'fuck off you daft cunt' to anyone there

Not particularly 'chavvy' (whatever that means), yeah got loads of post grad quals

Hope that answers all your questions

ExplodedCloud Mon 12-Jun-17 12:06:16

Ooh nobody's ever done this thread...hmm

Ten pages of
OP: Stop swearing you uncouth people.
MN: Fuck off.

putdownyourphone Mon 12-Jun-17 12:06:28

Just because people swear on here or in the presence of other adults doesn't mean they swear at their kids - that's ridiculous thinking.

MsHooliesCardigan Mon 12-Jun-17 12:06:37

Actually, what does fucking annoy me is when posters use asterisks in swear words, even really mild ones e.g. 'AIBU to think this is cr*p?'

AlpacaPicnic Mon 12-Jun-17 12:11:21

My mother has a degree (first since I'm not even stealth boasting) and last Saturday I taught her the word Cockwomble.

I don't think she's stopped laughing yet grin

Away with ye, moral judgeywitch.

This once, I can be bothered to type out the whole mantra:
Oh DO fuck off dear.

PerpetualStudent Mon 12-Jun-17 12:15:13

My personal favourite swearword is 'fucksocks'

But now I know some randomer on the internet who can't even be arsed to choose a real user name is judging me I'll certainly stop using it..

Oh wait, no I fucking won't

MrsMooks Mon 12-Jun-17 12:15:46

EmpressOfTheSpartacusOceans Mon 12-Jun-17 12:18:21

Oh fuck, another one?

user14715485708, this thread is a bloody good example of why you might be better off namechanging.

fruitbats Mon 12-Jun-17 12:18:54

I swear more in real life than I do on here. I couldn't give a hoot if posters swear or not.

ToastDemon Mon 12-Jun-17 12:19:06

I'm so fucking sorry sad
