To ask people to stop swearing so much

Frankly, the language of some of the posters on this site is disgusting and I wonder if they talk like this in front of their children. I also wonder if their parents would be proud of how they post on the internet. Swearing every time isn't big and it isn't clever. It makes people come across as uneducated chavs.

AIBU to ask people to clean up their act and stop swearing?

ohfourfoxache · 12/06/2017 12:20

Take your judgypants and fuck off love Thanks

Ilovebaconbutimonadiet · 12/06/2017 12:20

Oh for fucks sake...

Istoletherainbow · 12/06/2017 12:20

Hmm I don't swear in front of my DD (sometimes by accident - road rage usually 😒 ) but I do swear and I'm pretty sure I've sworn on here a fair bit, although I'm not in the habit of counting my profanities 😐 so can't give you an exact figure.

OP, just because it's MUMSnet, it doesn't mean that we only discuss child friendly, censored, mum related issues (sometimes we do) and it doesn't mean if you swear like a trooper on here, or in front of your friends, that you swear in front of or at your dc!

To sum up, get a grip. If you don't like how some people talk on here, just ignore and maybe don't arrange any meet ups with them. Oh and steer clear from the Sweary Threads Confused

upperlimit · 12/06/2017 12:21

Ha, I thought this was going to be one of those ridiculously goady thread titles that you click on only to have the OP ask you to give blood or something.

Be kind to the op, every time a mumsnetter swears a fairy loses her wings Sad

MyWhatICallNameChange · 12/06/2017 12:22

Seriously?

I don't swear often, and don't actually do it on here that much, but if I do swear it's usually because I'm really fucking angry, so I need to let it all out.

It doesn't bother me at all if people swear on here, I assume they're like me and don't go around in their day to day lives swearing at everyone they meet. Or maybe they do. Wink

SootSprite · 12/06/2017 12:25

Bwahahahaha!

Nethuns is that way, twat ---->

mortificado · 12/06/2017 12:25

Fuck no!
Sometimes a swear word is needed to be able to stress a fucking point properly.

So no. Fuck off

Grin
muckypup73 · 12/06/2017 12:26

We are all adults, I do not see what your problem is.

muckypup73 · 12/06/2017 12:26

SootSprite, I read that as Netnuns

Lottapianos · 12/06/2017 12:26

Well I don't have any children so no need to clutch your pearls over what they might be hearing, and I'm not in contact with my parents very much so they don't have to be subjected to my potty mouth either. We're all adults on here so lets unclench

Huffletuff · 12/06/2017 12:28

Teacher here, first class honours, masters, en route to PhD blah blah.

Fucking love a good swear.

Obviously not in front of pupils and DS.

BuzzKillington · 12/06/2017 12:28

We've been here before.

To save you time, OP, everyone's going to tell you to fuck off.

Pannnn · 12/06/2017 12:28

Well, you all appear to be supporting the OP's point.

TheFirstMrsDV · 12/06/2017 12:30

I like swearing.
Like others on here I can't swear at work.
I don't swear in the street or in front of other people's kids.

I need to swear sometimes so I will do it where appropriate.
This is an appropriate place.

Fuck bastard wanking cunty shite bollocks.

JuicyStrawberry · 12/06/2017 12:30

I don't swear in front of my children. I swear in RL just not in front of them. Whoever says they never ever swear is a fucking liar!

On here I swear more on here though.

SootSprite · 12/06/2017 12:30

Netnuns 😂😂

JuicyStrawberry · 12/06/2017 12:32

I swear a lot in my head when I'm out and about. Sometimes it isn't appropriate to say out loud Grin

IHateUncleJamie · 12/06/2017 12:33

You do know this is MUMsnet, not Childnet, don't you OP? I find a good swear very therapeutic. I love the fact that we can swear here should we wish to. Don't like it? Don't read the threads then.

GinIsIn · 12/06/2017 12:35

I have an MA in English, and love the language and the words it comprises, and love to make use of them. Just as I might use the words loquacious or moribund, sometimes I might call someone a cunt. Language is rich and varied and it's far more uneducated to not use a broad spectrum of it.

I don't swear in front of my child, because sometimes feeling the need for an expletive does not render me devoid of the ability to define context.

Now do fuck off, dear! Grin

TrinityTaylor · 12/06/2017 12:35

Fuck off dick cheese!

DramaAlpaca · 12/06/2017 12:35

Like someone else said upthread you lost the moral high ground when you used the word 'chavs'.

I don't swear much either on here or in real life, but I don't care what others do. Each to their own.

IHateUncleJamie · 12/06/2017 12:35

Pannnn - do you and the OP remember that other members are not YOUR children?

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 12/06/2017 12:35

I'm afraid somethings warrant the odd profanity OP.
Live and let live.

ChazsBrilliantAttitude · 12/06/2017 12:35

OP
Have you thought of a name change
