To ask people to stop swearing so much

Frankly, the language of some of the posters on this site is disgusting and I wonder if they talk like this in front of their children. I also wonder if their parents would be proud of how they post on the internet. Swearing every time isn't big and it isn't clever. It makes people come across as uneducated chavs.

AIBU to ask people to clean up their act and stop swearing?

I thought your OP said...

That would be very very unreasonable!

Pannnn · 12/06/2017 12:38

Yes I remember that other posters are not my children. Not sure why that is asked though.

EdithWeston · 12/06/2017 12:38

MN Twitter tagline:

"Oh you know, that website, for parents. No, not that one, the other one. With the biscuits. And the swearing"

It does exactly what it says on the tin.

GotToGetMyFingerOut · 12/06/2017 12:38

Cant beat a fuck.

Dawndonnaagain · 12/06/2017 12:40

Oh look, op hasn't been back, too disgusted with us all, one presumes.

Dear op,
I have absolutely no intention of regulating my language for you or anybody else. I am an intelligent, extremely well educated woman who has a vocabulary large enough to accommodate expressing myself more than adequately. Said vocabulary includes a wide range of fucks, cunts and arses; in the main because I come across so many.
You may wish to check out this should you choose to return to the discussion.

Ooh nobody's ever done this thread...hmm

Ten pages of
OP: Stop swearing you uncouth people.
MN: Fuck off.

My favourite swear word is CUNT. I used to think it was a terrible swear word, but now I fucking love it and any bastard that doesn't like it can bollocks off.

Bty, op, it's not just mums that post on here, so is it ok if the men and women, without children, fucking swear?

UntilTheCowsComeHome · 12/06/2017 12:43

I swear an awful lot, as does DH.

We are uneducated chavs though, if by that you mean didn't go to university and grew up on a council estate.

We even swear in front of our DC, they've managed to get to 15 and 11 without gaining an ASBO or being excluded from school. Still, there's time yet... Grin

7461Mary18 · 12/06/2017 12:43

I agree. I never swear at all. I find it really awful.

EmpressOfTheSpartacusOceans · 12/06/2017 12:43

I don't use cunt as an insult, because I love my cunt. They're wonderful things. Look at everything a cunt can do.

Namechangearoo · 12/06/2017 12:44

I rate how well my day is going by the amount of times I whisper "for fuck sake" under my breath.

Today's up to 6 already.

Decsbetterhalf · 12/06/2017 12:45

I see the OP has fucked off

The combination of your user name and that comment, though! 😳😆

Huffletuff · 12/06/2017 12:46

I remember the first time I ever heard the word cunt. I was in Year 9 and on a school overnight trip with my fellow private convent all girl classmates and the Year 13s. One of them said their brother was a cunt and I was astounded. I was convinced she'd made up the word and it took a good deal of convincing me that this was an actual swear.

I loved it.

OP

Clandestino · 12/06/2017 12:49

What the fuck? I consider myself an educated non-chav and I fucking swear when I like it.
So do my colleagues, whose education ranges between university graduates and Dr. titles too. You'd be probably getting palpitations and reaching for your smelling salts during our team meetings.

TakeThatFuckingDressOffNow · 12/06/2017 12:50

What do you mean by chav? What exactly are you referring to? Do you mean someone working class or poor? Can you qualify please.... Oh sorry realised you've already done one.

HookandSwan · 12/06/2017 12:50

Farmerswifeupnorth81 · 12/06/2017 12:51

I just love a good swear and it's only words and can't harm noone. I dont swear much in fron of my dcs but do swear in front of friends and colleagues . I never ever swear around my patients and am respectable and proffesional at work . Get a grip and have a swear cos honestly you will feel great for dropping the fbomb or the cunty one liner
