The year is going so quickly!

Yoga aims for the month: movement every day and work on meditation techniques for YTT.
Today I’ve done a 40 min Brett Larkin half moon practice and a 40 min Charlie Follows Challenging Full Body one.
Meditation will be Kundalini for stress relief, using mudra and pranayama.

@Yogachick yes that’s her, Fiji Mcalpine. There was more talk than I like but will definitely try some more. I did a SB power 45min strength and tone practice just now that I’ve somehow previously missed and whew it left me done in 😂. It was level 1 supposedly…it’s all very arbitrary as I think that was harder than this morning’s by far.

I’m going to sit and read some YTT coursework for a rest lol

Started with yogaflowqueen this morning but abandoned it. Very fast zero modifications. Tried Charlie Follows Yoga for Sciatica, more interesting than Adriene’s,feel an improvement but I think I need to do this on the daily for a bit. Bit of BOF for my foggy brain after, marvellous

Poisonwood · 22/06/2025 18:38

@Yogachick fast is very difficult to tune with breath, it sounds quite a limiting practice. At least you tried.

I did YWA 40 min Healthy Energy Flow, it was okay but not quite what I wanted. I might do some Marnie ones this week, her perimenopause/menopause/osteoporosis practices are good and she’s very down to earth.

45min YWA for Self Discipline. 15min SB TWIST. 30 minute yogigems kundalini. All nice practices.

Poisonwood · 24/06/2025 19:56

Had a 3.5hr meditation meeting tonight so only found time for 30min power free flow and sun a/b.

Poorly yesterday so no yoga. 20 mins SB from her calendar+10 mins sciatica SB,then Day 2 of Charlie Follows Beginner 30 days this evening. I suspect I’m not going to renew SB as I’m not using it a lot. Trying to save pennies and am fancying Charlie Follows Improvers package to save up for. FWFG just offered me a 30 day free trial which I’ll most likely do but then cancel. You’ve taught me there’s so much more out there than just sticking solidly to one teacher @Poisonwood . I think I’m enjoying my yoga so much more because of it ,so thankyou x

Poisonwood · 24/06/2025 22:40

@Yogachick ahh, you’re welcome ☺️. Sorry to hear you were poorly, hope you recover quickly. Charlie Follows is great. I have her flexibility program (birthday gift), and I’d really like her strength program. She got me able to do my first ever headstand in the middle of the floor without me even feeling I was really trying, her headstand practice was just so well sequenced and cued it all just worked smoothly.
I’m going to do Brett Larkin’s yoga for energy and focus first thing tomorrow, it’ll be a stressful and v busy day as my youngest needs surgery, and I think this 20min practice may really help. She’s good at somatic and kundalini practices as well as Hatha.

FWFG yoga for renewal from the calendar. A 45 min practice that could have been a much better 30 mins, lots of rambling on this one. Won’t repeat

Poisonwood · 25/06/2025 21:11

Well that was a fiery practice! Glad I did it first thing as I definitely ran out of energy by this evening.

Yogachick · 26/06/2025 07:46

@Poisonwood is that the Brett Larkin one? YouTube or app?

Yogachick · 26/06/2025 11:57

Day 3 of Charlie Folows beginner 30 days. I got bored. Then 10 min yoga for recovery from YWA calendar. There’s another one on there for today-Anahata(?) alignment, I might take a look later depending on energy

Poisonwood · 26/06/2025 14:05

@Yogachick this one

What made you feel bored yesterday do you know? Asking as I know I like Charlie Follows yet I rarely choose her at the minute and can’t work out why.

45min BL Kundalini Energy & Radiance and a 20 min SB core posture. Both nice.

I think it was too slow and basic for me @Poisonwood . With these beginner ones I always hope to pick up alignment tips, there were a few but not enough for a total beginner. Then it was basically tandasana, rolling up & down in forward fold,cat/cow sphinx & sun A,with a ‘modified’ chatarunga,to me any mention of chatarunga has no place in a beginners series, but that’s just me,as I’m still struggling to master a modified version properly after years of practice.
This is the first of hers that I’ve been bored, More frequently with some of Adriene’s and with SB I’ve come to dread the ‘lets flow, one breath one movement’ phrase ,as it just means we ‘ll be repeating the same movements several times over. Obviously my low boredom threshold shows I’m not fully present in the practice, but that’s one of my challenges.

Yogachick · 26/06/2025 22:03

Anahata practice with Adriene this evening. Lovely. Talking but not rambling, simple poses thoughtfully timed. She’s outside so will be lovely to revisit in grey winter days.

Poisonwood · 26/06/2025 22:04

@Yogachick completely agree re chaturanga! Also the one breath one flow…I know I should expect it, but it just makes me feel a little flat. My body craves non flow lol. I do enjoy the Adrienne Elizabeth stuff I’ve done on you tube, I don’t think I get that feeling with her so maybe the cue is slightly different.

OP posts:
Yogachick · 27/06/2025 09:46

Thanks for the Arianna Elizabeth recommendation @Poisonwood . In the garden with her International Day of Yoga gentle flow this morning and it was lovely.

Poisonwood · 27/06/2025 22:08

@yogachick ahh I’m glad you enjoyed it. I always feel I’d really like her if I met her in real life.
Had a busy day but squeezed in SB 60min power TWIST tonight. Was perfectly okay, bear walks, bear twists and side plank crunches were nice as was revolved triangle and revolved half moon. Didn’t settle me though. Think I’ll do some morning yoga tomorrow.

Jumbojem · 27/06/2025 22:39

Ahh @Yogachick I think you've described what I find is boring me, the "one breath one movement"thing. I just find flow altogether not my thing right now, much more enjoying a slower practice with poses held for longer. I've been doing all SB as I have the app but I do think i need to mix things up as I too get bored of the same old flows and sayings if you just stick to one. I will keep the app for now but when I'm back from holiday maybe mix it up more.
As for me, I did SB hip stretch which I enjoyed, quite like a reverse table.
I am off on holiday for 3 weeks now, so yoga will be limited but will aim to do some stretching. Will probably need it after some of the long bus journeys and backpack lugging I will be doing!
So, I'll catch you in July.

Poisonwood · 27/06/2025 23:35

@Jumbojem hope you have a great time!

Poisonwood · 28/06/2025 09:27

Lovely 7am practice. 60 min Arianna Elizabeth power morning…lots of chaturanga but also did crow, bird of paradise, tree, it was fun and somehow felt quite gentle too. I’m tempted by her “no chaturanga” practices!
Will do some Brett Larkin somatic or kundalini later.

OP posts:
Poisonwood · 28/06/2025 17:19

@Yogachick I just did this one and thought of you. I may be wrong but I think you’d like it. Gentle Hatha, no chaturanga, no flow, but left feeling strong and also calmed. I’ll be doing it again.

Thanks for the recommendation @Poisonwood , I’ll put that on my to do list.
Have a great holiday @Jumbojem ,come back all refreshed to the yoga party!
Just Adriene’s 10 min from the calendar today as very busy today but did the Feel Good hip flow from yesterdays calendar yesterday evening.
I like flow but not repeat repeat repeat flow ,I’ll keep dabbling with recommendations

Poisonwood · 29/06/2025 12:29

Did a 30min Sarah Beth Strength and Tone this morning that definitely did what it said on the tin. Think I’m in need of a hatha hour this afternoon for breath work as well though.

OP posts:
Yogachick · 29/06/2025 12:45

Adriene’s morning practice from the calendar a wake up flow without the ‘let’s flow’ 20 mins solid yoga in the sunshine, lovely start to the day!

Poisonwood · 29/06/2025 17:12

That sounds nice @Yogachick. I did a 60min Marnie Castor practice Funky Side Angle, that I’d missed when it first came out. Really felt it, but in a really great steady yet strong way…and lovely linkage with breath. Feel much better for it.
