The year is going so quickly!

Yoga aims for the month: movement every day and work on meditation techniques for YTT.
Today I’ve done a 40 min Brett Larkin half moon practice and a 40 min Charlie Follows Challenging Full Body one.
Meditation will be Kundalini for stress relief, using mudra and pranayama.

Today was a Charlie Follows 60 min full body practice after you mentioned her @Yogachick, it’s been a wee while and it was nice. 30 min meditation as well.

I would love to join you but am almost complete novice. do you pay for access or just do what is on YouTube?

Yogachick · 11/06/2025 19:10

Day 2 of True this morning. 🧡🧡
Welcome @babasaclover . Take a look on Youtube, there’s lots of choice out there.
Have a look at Adriene,Sarah Beth,Charlie Follows,Kassandra. Look at the practice before doing it, to see if you like the voice, pace, instruction. It never has to be perfect, just give yourself grace to breath and do a variation you are at ease with. Good luck x

Poisonwood · 12/06/2025 22:44

Hi @babasaclover welcome 👋

@Yogachick has said it brilliantly. Always remember (and accept) we are beautifully unique, including our bodies. I still remember my first yoga practice, it was Yoga for Comfort and Nourishment by Adriene and I really recommend that one.

Today I had a lovely vinyasa class. A good pace to still be able to focus on breath well.

Sarah Beth 60min Hot and Sweaty practice today, and Wowzer that was a good one. Some little additions that made all the difference, could really feel my muscles working . Tempted to do it again tomorrow!
30min seven wave Sat Nam meditation was a lovely practice too, all interconnected beautifully and left me mellow.

Absolutely delicious 60 min Brett Larkin Yoga for Inner Strength and Length. Was so good I then carried on with 10min SB core practice and YWA Breathe Day 3 35min (was in favourites) then some sun A/B.
10 min Shavasana, 20 min zen meditation.

Lovely yoga day.

I’m still going to. Up to the dreaded Day 6 of True today. Yesterdays had BOF which really helped me as I’ve been very tired and feeling drugged again( I’m not btw)

Yogachick · 16/06/2025 12:15

As per strayed from Adriene to Day 1 of Charlie Follows weekly plan for beginners & improvers. I’ve done this one before ,has the bear taps. Just a neat 20 mins.
I have sciatica,so am trying to work that out as well

Poisonwood · 16/06/2025 22:02

@Yogachick have you tried Adriene’s 30min sciatica practice? I loathe it when mine flares up, you have my sympathy. It can take a while longer than we think sometimes to recover from illnesses, you’re doing well reading what you need each day.

3 hours of yoga today, 60 min thigh and Core Video then a Hatha class then Ashtanga. Might sleep well tonight.

Have run out of time for asana today, but do have a 3.5hr meditation zoom meeting to attend this evening!

Can I ask a question? I love yoga and usually manage about three times a week. But I have a frozen shoulder (doing the physio exercises for it). It’s at the frozen stage - can anyone recommend any yoga I can do because I miss it!

Yogachick · 17/06/2025 20:19

@Tupperwarefan I’d look at handsfree practices but limit the arm movements to what is accessible for you comfortably. YouTube is great for options
I keep looking at that one @Poisonwood bit want a quicker fix so have been doing other exercises from good ole YouTube which have helped a bit. Adriene True Day 7 Salut for me today

Tupperwarefan · 17/06/2025 20:37

Thank you @Yogachick I knew I had come to the right place for advice!

Yogachick · 18/06/2025 12:45

Adriene yoga for sciatica then Brett Larkin Kundalini day 1, how I love doing day 1s then not seeing it through 🙄

Poisonwood · 18/06/2025 13:31

@Tupperwarefan can you check in with your physio re yoga? They are usually incredibly positive (and pretty knowledgeable) about yoga asana.

@Yogachick haha I’m the same, get to lots of Day 3s but not many Day 5s and zero Day 30. The fact I found the discipline to do daily yoga at all still shocks me tbh.

OP posts:
Tupperwarefan · 18/06/2025 15:54

Thanks @PoisonwoodI will do that. Im not seeing her until mid july, but I will definitely ask. Feeling pretty stiff and uncomfortable without yoga

Poisonwood · 19/06/2025 19:26

@Tupperwarefan I bet you are 😟

30 min Yogigems kundalini kriya for vitality. Great combination of tempos that left me really grounded and balanced at the end. Will definitely be adding this one to regular practices. I’ll try more of her too.
40 min meditation as well, 20 chanting, 20 silent.

OP posts:
Yogachick · 19/06/2025 20:34

Thanks for the recommendation @Poisonwood ,I’ll have a look at yogigems for kundalini. Question- all the thumbnails seem to be sitting ,is it all sitting?
Day 8 of Adriene today. Approached without enthusiasm as Day 8s can be super gentle practices. This was but had some nice breathwork & movements which lifted it.

Jumbojem · 20/06/2025 12:17

@Yogachick how's the sciatica going? OH has been suffering for a month now and I keep suggesting some yoga but he is not on board. He usually does a lot of running and I had been saying before this flare up that he really should do more stretching and mobility work but he thinks it's all a bit "woo".
I did bedtime yoga this week which is something I haven't done before. Been getting really bad restless legs and was hoping it would help. Did a Sarah Beth one, was not expecting plough and a shoulder stand for bedtime yoga and not done either in years. Somehow managed it and didn't get restless legs so maybe it worked?! Besides that I have been lazy just doing short non challenging poses. Not really feeling the yoga love right now and just doing it to get it done if I'm honest.

Yogachick · 20/06/2025 12:26

Yoga Flow Queen on YouTube has a 10 day challenge I’ve signed up for. No idea what she’s like

Poisonwood · 20/06/2025 12:49

@Yogachick they all start off like that for beginning chant but the ones I’ve done have a fair bit of asana too. Let us know what you think of the challenge.

@Jumbojem that’s interesting before bed…but also that your legs weren’t restless!! Can you think of any reasons you aren’t feeling the love at the minute?

Did yogigems 40 min kriya for a calm & open heart, then did a few rounds of sun A/B. Meditation in bed before getting up this morning was nice.

OP posts:
Yogachick · 20/06/2025 17:48

@Jumbojem love plough & shoulderstand so will search out the bedtime SB. I know what you mean about not feeling the yoga love,I fall in and out all the time, that’s why there’s 5 & 10 min practices out there as far as I’m concerned😂
Day 9 of True. Practiced outside but found the concrete slabs very hard on my knees so couldn’t fully concentrate. The iPad also overheats so maybe outside practices may not be there for me much atm.
Challenge starts tomorrow. I’ve done none of her practices so will see how it is

Poisonwood · 21/06/2025 11:56

Did a new (recommended by friend) 60 min practice, first thing this morning - even before a cup of tea! A woman called Fiji. It was labelled advanced but was really nice, nothing I couldn’t do and peak poses were bird of paradise and warrior 3. I wonder if that label can out people off trying practices that are actually really cleverly sequenced, rather than v v difficult.

OP posts:
Yogachick · 21/06/2025 13:29

@Poisonwood Fiji Mcalpine? Out of my league but happy you enjoyed her practice. Challenge didn’t start till later today so will have a look at day 1 tomorrow. Tired this morning so just a 10 min SB followed by BOF for a minute to dredge up some energy, works wonders!
