Hope you don’t think I’m treading on your toes @yogachick just like things being orderly so can’t post on the October thread any more 😂

Yesterday was a lovely yoga day, pranayama YWA video which left me feeling great plus another couple of hours of assorted flow. Also a chaturanga practice. I bought some resistance bands to work on my strength to improve my yoga, and am eyeing up kettlebells to buy after Christmas. I don’t recognise this new me just yet, but I like her a lot 🩷.

YWA Pendulum Practice today, only 20 min but it packed a lot in! A longer bedtime meditation as tomorrow is quite a stressful and very busy day.

I did a Time Travel meditation for Grief this morning. It talked about going back to see a loved one who had passed & their love & joy at seeing you again. I realised I had no one who would have been that person,I’ve always been a bit ‘wrong’ or not enough or perversely too much. I cried

PatienceOfEngels · 22/11/2024 08:21

@Yogachick that sounds really confronting and difficult. Sending you a big hug.

Managed to do Revolution Day 13 yesterday with colleague at work. Quite hard work - lots of down dog.

I will pick it up again today and try to get at east one practice done.

Poisonwood · 23/11/2024 06:28

@Yogachick I would have realised the same. I’ve grown to accept this was those people’s issues and not what I deserved.

Please know that you are neither too much or too little - you are everything, just the way you are.

Yesterday was an incredibly tiring and stressful day, got home really sore and did Pendulum Practice again. It helped physically and emotionally.

Today I have a long day of lovely, relaxing yoga planned - asanas and meditation and reading a new book, The Power of Trauma-Informed Yoga (free on kindle unlimited).

Thankyou for your kind words @Poisonwood & @PatienceOfEngels . My tears have turned into something positive, a conversation on SB app encouraged me to do some work on my Inner Child ,absolutely resonated with me and I find myself at a place where I can give myself the grace to work with myself.
I did Deep Stretch for Chest & Back last night, almost brought me to tears again. Only 20 mins but using pillows as I don’t have a bolster got a lovely deep release
I think I’m at a turning point & this is meant to be

Yogachick · 23/11/2024 18:52

20 min power yoga flow to boost confidence -Sarah Beth calendar and a 5 min meditation for beginners also SB

Poisonwood · 23/11/2024 19:00

@Yogachick it sounds like you are at what could be an important moment.

YWA yoga for back pain and Breath 22. I’m a day behind, but will catch up tomorrow.

Yogachick · 24/11/2024 21:34

SB 5 min meditation for acceptance, another tool for me,20 min yoga for burnout ,stress & anxiety, then this evening, after putting an ask out in the community for bad back practices,a 30 min yoga for lower back pain.
I’m really enjoying the Sarah Beth app. There’s good community feel and unlike Adriene Sarah Beth is very present and real.

Poisonwood · 24/11/2024 23:36

@Yogachick hope the back feels better soon.
I did YWA Breath 23 & 24 and hips & lower back. Tomorrow I’ve got a 1.5 hour in person class.

YWA Revolution days 14 and 15 over the weekend (Friday and Saturday) but now feeling rotten with a cold so none yesterday or today. Aim to have Revolution finished before Christmas and then will do core play until January when I'll do a new 30 day programme.

Poisonwood · 25/11/2024 12:42

I did a Sarah Beth 30 minute morning flow after your recommendation @Yogachick and thank you - I enjoyed it. It was nice to be able to do most of it without looking at the screen, and seeing the multiple options at the same time.

SB 20 min morning yoga and 30 min level 2 full body. Definitely feeling it 😊. Will do some yoga reading this evening and my nightly meditation.

Yogachick · 27/11/2024 19:34

My back is still painful so I’ve been doing back pain practices and mediations only though I did todays posture practice from SB calendar ,as I think poor posture is contributing to my back pain. I’m continuing my streak, have done something every day since I joined the membership on 15th November 😁
How are you finding Sarah Beth @Poisonwood ?

Poisonwood · 27/11/2024 19:59

@Yogachick I much prefer her! And am very grateful for you talking about her. Maybe it’s the dour Scot in me but I don’t do particularly well with teacher-chatter when I’m trying to concentrate…I have enough multi-tasking moving/breathing/making sure the children aren’t killing themselves or each other 😆.

70 min of asana today, and feeling lovely from it.

Yogachick · 27/11/2024 20:56

I highly recommend her app,am sure you would find some sort of Black Friday deal somewhere. I like that she’s not entirely chat free, but very clean & uncluttered, with the talking being very relevant & concise, bringing a little something extra to my yoga practice as a whole rather than just the asana

Poisonwood · 27/11/2024 21:52

@Yogachick yes, I got a Black Friday deal that put the app in to my price range. My Christmas present to myself. I cannot access more in-person classes so it’s nice to have videos that are to my taste.

60 min SB Power Yoga and 20 min SB full body power yoga, feel the burn. Mediation later and reading Deborah Adele’s The Yamas and Niyamas.

SB full body, 60 min. Looking forward to a relaxing yoga weekend.

Oh hello yogis! I have done some yoga, but not lots. Tomorrow is a new month so I will try to do more, but December is tough to find time, the tree when it goes up will encroach my yoga space, but yoga at day break with the tree lights on is something to brighten the day?
I did do yoga with Kassandra 30 mins morning yin which made a really nice change from flow or evening only yin. Some bloody great hip stretches which I really need as my hip flexors are very much making themselves known when I've sat down too long
What is everyone's plans for December practice? Sounds like I need to check out Sarah Beth.

Poisonwood · 30/11/2024 22:09

@jumbojem my autism results in a strict rule that the Christmas tree can’t be on before dinner time until Christmas Day where they are on all day…but your day break yoga by the lights sounds so lovely!

I have had a day of feeling extremely weak (totm) so I just did SB 20 min Posture and Confidence. I think tomorrow I’ll do some morning yin, see if that’s what I need.

My plans for December - daily asanas, nightly meditation, more yoga reading and attend a couple of in-person classes before the holidays. I’ve got to do the children’s daily yoga practice in school holidays (prescribed by hospital) so that will make the month quite full of yoga!

OP posts:
Yogachick · 30/11/2024 22:23

I’ve been short practices or just meditations all SB. Still struggling with back pain, though hugely
improved. I’m at my son’s home in a different country, awaiting the birth of our first grandchild, normal life is in limbo right now.

Jumbojem · 30/11/2024 22:55

@Yogachick oh how exciting, the beginning of the next generation for you! I hope the birth goes well and your back eases soon.
@Poisonwood I'm intrigued, the hospital have prescribed children's yoga? I can't get any of my family interested in yoga even though I tell OH it will help him with his running/bad knee/into old age he just thinks it's all mumbo jumbo.

Poisonwood · 01/12/2024 08:02

@Yogachick I’m glad your back is improving. And excited for you about your grandchild coming soon, such a very special time.

@Jumbojem yes, three different departments (!), the paediatric rheumatology consultant, the paediatrician and the paediatric physiotherapist. The physiotherapist organised a daily yoga routine that helps their individual needs, school are wonderful about supporting them and they do it at school usually and friends and teachers join in for fun.
They were also recommended swimming and bare back riding, so we now have a pony and in the summer swim in the Atlantic (at the bottom of the garden lol)

As a matter of interest for your DH - mine ignored the GP suggesting he do yoga ten years ago, dismissed it as mumbo jumbo, and now wishes he’d listened as at 70 he’s very, very stiff.

Hello everyone. Been pretty absent this month and have only got through half my 30 day calendar. Aiming to finish it this month - it's December! New thread for a new month?

Exciting news @Yogachick .

Have really struggled with getting my head in the right place and keep getting subtracted by my to do list during longer practices. I might try to find some shorter ones (15 minutes) to get me back in the right frame of mind and on the mat everyday.

Having the Atlantic at the bottom of the garden sounds bliss @Poisonwood . I grew up in SE England with only a 30-40 minute drive to the coast. Now living in mainland Europe and it's 2hours to the sea - I miss it. Have to get my water fix from canals and rivers instead.

Hello, will there be a December yoga daily practice thread? I am in bad shape, painful hypermobility issues and an injured Achilles tendon with a side order of anxiety so have a few things to work on. I haven't done this before. I will need to start with 10 minutes at a time I think. I have been using soothing pod every night and breathing exercises for around 2 months and feel I could add in some exercise and try and make that a habit too. I will look for some gentle 10 min videos but happy for any suggestions please?
