Hope you don’t think I’m treading on your toes @yogachick just like things being orderly so can’t post on the October thread any more 😂

Yesterday was a lovely yoga day, pranayama YWA video which left me feeling great plus another couple of hours of assorted flow. Also a chaturanga practice. I bought some resistance bands to work on my strength to improve my yoga, and am eyeing up kettlebells to buy after Christmas. I don’t recognise this new me just yet, but I like her a lot 🩷.

Revolution day 10 today. have skipped quite a few days the last week. Hoping to try and catch up.

Poisonwood · 14/11/2024 22:03

What’s Revolution like @PatienceOfEngels ? I ended up doing the first two Rise practices too.

PatienceOfEngels · 15/11/2024 06:56

Liking it more than Home. Practices are a consistent length (30 minutes).

PatienceOfEngels · 15/11/2024 08:40

Just done revolution Day 11 (28mins). Balance based which is not my favourite type of pose.
Going to try and get another one in today to catch up (especially as out in the city again tomorrow so will be away from home all day and most of the evening.

Yogachick · 15/11/2024 19:59

Release from the Glow calendar on Sarah Beth app. Yin practice, didn’t think it would be for me but it was delicious.

Jumbojem · 15/11/2024 22:43

Have been absolutely rubbish this month! But I did do a kassandra balance one yesterday, real challenge but I enjoyed having to focus on it. Left side terrible right side not so bad on one leg balances.
Repeat from last month of YWA morning mobility this am.
Really need to get up and get on it rather than faffing about in the morning.
I always used to do the YWA January 30 days so think I need to sign up for one for Jan 25 as YWA not doing one.

Poisonwood · 15/11/2024 23:09

@Jumbojem I only found out yesterday that YWA isn’t having another 30 day in January - do you know the reason by any chance? Breath 15 for me today, it was fine but I felt stiff all the way through. Either I did too much yesterday or PMS is starting up again.
Meditation before bed.

@Jumbojem Sarah Beth has one for January, will probably be short practices.

Jumbojem · 16/11/2024 18:44

Ahh thank you @Yogachick I will sign up. January is usually my peak yoga month and the last couple of years I've made the effort to do all 30 days, even if it's late after travelling for work, or even in a hotel room once.
@Poisonwood she announced it after last year's ended. She said she's done them for the last 10 years and they take a lot of time and energy to produce. I think she starts a good few months before then get them edited etc I wonder if she has something up her sleeve though as I swear she said she wouldn't leave us high and dry in a recent video?

PatienceOfEngels · 17/11/2024 07:02

Lovely day yesterday traveling to city to watch Cirque du Soleil. The performers were just incredible - the core strength for the pole/silks work was amazing and has motivated me to get my butt back on the mat today. I did a circus course a few years ago and it made me realise how hard all those skills are - I have a terrible sense of balance (managed to fall off a unicycle and bruise my coccyx), am really unfit, STILL can't juggle after 6 months of trying, and my pecs were in such agony after a silks session I had trouble lifting my arms pain free for 4-5 days afterwards!

I definitely want to catch up with Revolution this week and dig out my Core Play exercises as well.

Poisonwood · 17/11/2024 14:18

@PatienceOfEngels that all sounds amazing!!

Yesterday I did a live 1 hour + YWA session which was lovely and gentle; think I probably needed that.

Today I’ve done Breath 17 and will do another hour of videos too, later. Tomorrow is my in-person class.

Did a live practice(through the app) with Sarah Beth. Not just a practice but interactive chat as well. Very different for me.
Those of you wanting a January 30 days I believe Charlie Follows might also be doing one,a Beginners 30 days. I dipped into her last one but found it too much for me,so interested on the Beginner angle. So many yoga/ fitness teachers wouldn’t know actual beginners practice/ workout if it jumped up & smacked them in the face. I’m so unyogic I know, but the frustration is real.😔

Poisonwood · 17/11/2024 18:33

@Yogachick you make perfect sense, unyogic or not. If my very first video had been too much I may have never tried yoga again, and I wonder how many people have fallen foul to this.

I still have covid. Life is fun

Yogachick · 17/11/2024 19:18

@Sooverthemill sending all the hugs,I’ve had it 3 times, even being vaxxed it’s grim. Do you have support for your daughter while you’re poorly?

Jumbojem · 17/11/2024 20:49

@yogachick I agree, some can be quite hard even when they say "all levels with adaptations". I think that's why YWA is so popular as hers are much more accessible.
I really like Charlie follows but I have to choose wisely, a few of hers I've just had to sit parts out even when not labelled "intermediate " as I just didn't have the upper body strength to manage, or found the pose too confusing.
Yoga with kassandra is pretty accurate with beginner/intermediate and most of hers are accessible too. She's my current go to as she chats less than adriene. Just a shortage of 20/25 min videos on her channel which is my usual time available. They are either 10/15 mins or an hour.
@Sooverthemill hope you feel better soon!

Jumbojem · 17/11/2024 20:53

Oh and I've done no yoga all weekend. If I don't do it first thing I find it hard to get peace and space to do it. Doing it in my usual spot with OH watching from the sofa and potentially being seen through the front window does not make for a relaxing time! Early and during the week work best for me. I will never be a daily practice person unless I get to move somewhere bigger or everyone moves out of my home!

Poisonwood · 18/11/2024 22:18

@Sooverthemill get well soon!!!

Today I had a lovely hour in-person class, a great hip rotation/stretch that I’d not done before and it was a joy lol.

I skipped Sunday then limped about 2/3 of the way through YWA Revolution day 12 yesterday. My head wasn't in it (recording for external exams at school) and I just couldn't focus. Off work today so will crack on and try and catch up a bit.

I must say I'm finding a daily practice in these dark days much harder than during the summer when I practiced outside. I'm the same @Jumbojem - I find it easier to practice if I have space and time to myself. At home this is hard the find! My kids are only just past the up at crack of dawn stage and the youngest still has ears on elastic so will get up when I do.

I went to a zen meditation courses few years ago and they wanted us to start with 20 minutes meditation morning and night as week 1 homework. I knew the morning just wouldn't work for me as the whole house would be up. Tried it by sneaking up to attic office and DC2 (who was 2 or 3 then) stood at the child gate calling 'mama mama mama mama' until I came down (and by this time DC1 and DH were awake as well. Not very zen!

Tidied my bedroom at least so it's a bit less chaotic and will light a candle later when I go up to practice.

Poisonwood · 19/11/2024 19:15

@PatienceOfEngels have you ever tried meditation in bed? I do it nightly, it helps me drop off in to a deep sleep far quicker too.

Breath 19 for me today plus a 40 min video I can’t remember the name of.

Yogachick · 19/11/2024 19:16

@PatienceOfEngels a clean block of space & time when you have young children is incredibly difficult. Those days are long past for me,I just need self discipline🙄
Yesterday was an 8 min morning stretch, today was a 30 min intermediate morning detox, done in the evening.Loads of balancing, long holds as well,I’m not great with them at all especially on the lovely bouncy deep pile carpet in my yoga room aka spare bedroom I’m also very much not intermediate ,despite having a 20 yr+ practice. No consistency though & avoidance when things have got tough.Only now being honest with myself about that!
I’m on a magnificent 5 day streak🤩

Poisonwood · 20/11/2024 18:06

@Yogachick it is good you’re being honest with yourself now 💪😊

Today I did YWA yoga for psoas, and also stretch and core.

5 min Stress Buster with SB. Much needed today

Yogachick · 21/11/2024 16:46

There was a 90 min practice on SB calendar today,I’m nowhere near that level so I found a 30 min from the same collection Evolve-full body workout. Def a power practice, pink background on her app/Youtube so it’s nice & clear
