Another month when I strive for some consistency in my yoga practice

@Rummikub well done ! And she just knows-years ago Yoga for Hangovers popped up on the calendar on the day after a night out for me,it was uncanny😂
@PatienceOfEngels well done for powering through Breath, any way to clear the blocked nostril?
I managed Day 2 of Flow today, crazy busy yesterday so no time. Forced myself to the mat & went through the motions, even though she said don’t do that( see? She knew!) I still felt the benefit of the practice afterwards despite my efforts not to🙄

@Yogachick that is so true- even my half hearted with many breaks effort still felt good afterwards.
I just find it calming.

So I think I will carry on with breathe (tho not at the phenomenal pace set by @PatienceOfEngels !)

Then go back to flow for sept when life gets really busy.

Thank you for the thread and posts. It really helps to keep me motivated!

Rummikub · 11/08/2024 23:45

Timely hangover yoga 😂
How does she just know!

I hope there a another January 30 days.

Allthegoodnamesaretaken92 · 12/08/2024 02:01

Hi!

I’m a complete newbie. Browsing FB one day and on total impulse downloaded the asana rebel app.

been a month and I’m still managing roughly 4/5 times a week. I’ve done a couple of the challenges so have an idea on what I like, which teachers are brutal, which are fast, which are calmer and more relaxing. The very short 4 and 5 min workouts are great for taking a breather at work.

i don’t really do the longer than 25 min ones as I have a short concentration span, but occasionally I’ll do one am and one pm.

i can already feel my strength and flexibility increasing :)

PatienceOfEngels · 12/08/2024 07:08

@Rummikub I thin this year's 30 days was the last - she did them for 10 years and think she's now moving into a different phase of her life so thought 10 was a good time to stop (I can imagine it takes a really long time to plan/film etc). They're all still available to use on YT. I paid a small amount to download a couple as my wifi doesn't reach to the bottom of my garden and it was using all my data.

I did one of her events when she came to Europe a few years ago and met her 🙂

PS My yoga will fall off a cliff when school goes back next week! I usually have peaks in January, April and the summer holidays but going to try and push onto October half term this time.

Welcome @Allthegoodnamesaretaken92

Just about to go and do Breath Day 11. Going to be 33 degrees here today 😱

PatienceOfEngels · 12/08/2024 08:21

Really enjoyed that practice. 22 minutes of flow!

Yogachick · 12/08/2024 12:27

Welcome @Allthegoodnamesaretaken92 & well done on maintaining a regular practice.
Im going to find Breath Day 11 & mark it for watch later @PatienceOfEngels . I love flow yoga
All the 30 days are available on YouTube @Rummikub ,they all have something different to offer, though I will miss the January gatherings.
Flow Day 3 in the garden for me today, hot here so sweat sliding down my face into my eyes, bit stingy,so will try and remember a headband for tomorrow.

Is there an app or instructor anyone would recommend for very short daily sessions? I have chronic fatigue and have to manage my energy very carefully. But 5 mins or so each day I can do just now. 20 would wipe me out for the rest of the day!

Yogachick · 12/08/2024 12:53

@Betty789 i have ME and fibromyalgia,I totally get having to manage energy carefully, some days getting out of bed is triumph x
Kassandra has 10 min practices ,Adriene also has some. I think both can be searched for on the relevant page on YouTube. I haven’t tried Asana Rebel, perhaps @Allthegoodnamesaretaken92 can advise on the intensity of those practices mentioned.
https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLui6Eyny-UzwiUzvhM2BjxThodiRWZ2JR&si=XmujAzaxMWiktZ5V These are Adriene’s 10 minutes or less

. This one is 15 mins but I can highly recommend this ,I’ve practiced mid flare and this definitely took the pain down. Mostly sitting ,lots of breathwork which can be under appreciated when used to an asana practice Hope that helps x

Before you continue to YouTube

Yes I think it's the January gathering I'll miss. And everyone sharing their progress through.

Ten years of sessions is good! And yes i can imagine production takes a lot of time.

Betty789 · 12/08/2024 13:29

@Yogachick this is amazingly helpful thank you so much!
Sorry to hear your health is crap too x

Yes I find asana rebel has a huge mix and variety.

lots of 4-5 min sessions. Chair sessions or sessions using similar to support and assist.

also 12-15 min sessions, and 25-30.

you can filter by goal- so relaxation, strength, fitness, instructor etc. there’s also meditation sessions, menus, general other stuff as well, but I haven’t explored those.

i think I paid £38 for the year which seemed a bargain to me, but I am using it a lot.

PatienceOfEngels · 13/08/2024 07:34

@Betty789 I love Adriene's style ad she does have some short practices. When I first started I just picked a 15 minute video and used the same one. Helped me get used to her style and now I can enjoy doing a different practice everyday. I also sometimes just use one of the monthly playlists where you can see the length and pick what fits into my day.

Just done a very hot day 12 of breath.

Betty789 · 14/08/2024 13:38

Thank you all! I definitely don't mind paying as I am used to paying for exercise classes and this would replace these.
I've seen Yoga Go app advertised too, not sure if it's any good? Have ordered a mat and am excited to get started, even if it's very slowly!

PatienceOfEngels · 14/08/2024 19:20

Only just got on the mat today and really had to push myself to get out there! Day 13 of Breath (26mins).

PatienceOfEngels · 15/08/2024 08:33

Day 14 of Breath (36mins)

Yogachick · 15/08/2024 11:27

Well done all xx

Day 15 Breath (23 minutes)

PatienceOfEngels · 17/08/2024 20:03

Day 16 breath (27mins). Mostly breathing exercises!

PatienceOfEngels · 18/08/2024 19:07

Day 17 of Breath this morning (32 mins). Backstage to work tomorrow after 6 weeks off. Will be a challenge to fit things in on my working days.

Rummikub · 18/08/2024 21:51

Thanks for the summaries @PatienceOfEngels

They were helpful for me when I saw the times!

I had a v bad pain yesterday and today (even Googled heart attack!) so I dud the one Adrienne sent out this week. The healing one. I'll do it again tonight before sleeping. Short one at 15 mins.

I usually use my phone but today I cast it to the tv and I saw her face clearly for the first time 😂😂

PatienceOfEngels · 20/08/2024 08:04

Back to work yesterday for me! Decided both days to get up early and do yoga outside at 6am before getting the kids up. Won't be doing that much longer - it was so dim this morning that the outdoor security light came on 😂

Enjoyed both these practices for core and strength.
Yesterday Breath day 18 Center (36 minutes)and today Breath day 19 Strength (23 mins).

Am going to have to get my mat set up in the lounge before I go to bed if I want to continue early morning practice without waking up the house (all light sleepers!). Or I will switch to evening practice and walk in the mornings.

PatienceOfEngels · 21/08/2024 06:14

Today Breath day 20 Pause (16 mins). Mostly breathing and not really what I needed this morning so will bear that in mind and might skip this one next time round or do as an extra.

Yogachick · 21/08/2024 07:40

Brilliant @PatienceOfEngels way to continue your daily practice. I’m finally back on the mat again, having done a week of weights and aerobics, triggering inflammation heading for a flare. I’m old enough to know better, I need yoga. So Adriene today Healing Yoga break 17 mins, popped up on YouTube. Bit of an odd one as she brings push ups on your knees to child’s pose on repeat towards the end. I didn’t find this practice particularly healing, but that’s just my experience, might be perfect for others.@Rummikub sorry to read your distress, may I suggest Yoga for Nervous System,I’ve found that very helpful when I flare, very calming x
its a relief to be back on my mat 💜

Rummikub · 21/08/2024 23:13

Thanks @Yogachick I'll search for that.

@PatienceOfEngels I think I'll do day 16 before I get out of bed and out to a busy day at work.
