Another month when I strive for some consistency in my yoga practice

YWA True Day 28 outside this morning.

Just finishing our holiday and have managed 13 days on the mat out of 15. 12 of those outside (one of my summer goals is to do exercise outside wherever possible!).

Heading home tomorrow so will be a long day travelling. Need to decide what to take up when I finish true. Have started the core play but find it much more mechanical/workout-based than relaxing. Enjoyed this years 30 day programme from YWA (manageable times) so may do that again or do one of the earlier ones. Still have 2 weeks of holiday at home so can fit in some of the longer practices.

Thanks for the new thread @Yogachick !

I did Day 1 of Summergise Anniesyoga August challenge. Outside in the garden which was lovely. Very very different and only 3 times a week so will have to find something for in between.
Exercising outside is a game changer @PatienceOfEngels , I suspect people who live in a reliably temperate climate are much healthier overall . Now just to keep the dog and her wet paws off my mat….

I'd love to do this - even a 5 minute stretch a day would be really significant for me.

Yogachick · 01/08/2024 20:12

Welcome @Sunshineofyourlove ! Can we help with anything?

I'm interested! Long time yogi but nothing consistent for the past couple of years due to life and everything.
I got 15 mins done yesterday and felt so good afterwards. I will try for 5 mins today. Thanks for the thread. 🧘🏼‍♀️

PotOfTulips · 02/08/2024 09:01

Thanks for the reminder! But no way until the heat wave ends maybe tomorrow?

Yogachick · 02/08/2024 21:10

Busy and exhausted today so searched YouTube for a 5 min evening practice, came across yoga with Bird. Day 2✅

@Yogachick I got as far as searching for a 5 minute practice but didn't actually do it! Long hot day travelling back home from holiday yesterday so took a break day. Picking up again today with True (almost finished it!).

PatienceOfEngels · 04/08/2024 18:18

Last day of YWA True today. Sure I missed a day long the way. Now what to do next? I will pick up one of her other 30 day ones. Have 2 full weeks of holiday left so know I should be able to make a dent in it before school starts again.

It's been cloudy here all day and they cleared for blue skies as I was practicing ☀

You've reminded me I liked True so I'll do that again if anyone else is up for it?
Thanks for the new thread!

I haven't done any yoga for ages and can really feel it. I'm so stiff and ache for no reason.

PatienceOfEngels · 04/08/2024 18:42

@Rummikub True is my favourite and the one that got me into YWA in the first place. I did manage to finish Flow this year (took me till about mid-Feb) as they were quite short practices.

Have decided I'm going to do Breath.

Yogachick · 04/08/2024 20:18

Did Day 2 of Summergise yesterday. Is feeling more callisthenics than yoga but I’ll persevere for a bit. Hamstring focused & definitely felt it today
Today was this one

popped up randomly on YouTube. A nice breath focused practice. I adore True @Rummikub am just finding the practices a bit too long for me atm. I’ve never done Breath @PatienceOfEngels ,I’m interested in your thoughts on it as you go through x

Day 1 | Breath Awareness | 30 Day Yoga Challenge

Starting things off with (in my opinion) one of the most important things when it comes to yoga - breath awareness! We'll take it slow and move through some ...

Well I'm excited. I just searched for breathe Adrienne and I can sign up for the daily emails!

I think I need that daily push/ reminder.

But you're right @Yogachick it's long- day 1 is 48 mins.

So I'll do Flow till I feel fitter. But I'm v pleased can sign up like that for the daily email for any of the 30 day series.

PatienceOfEngels · 05/08/2024 11:56

Just did day 1 of Breath YWA outside. Long and felt more intense after True, but maybe that's because I'm already feeling fitter than I was a month ago so gave it more. Hard on my wrists. Going to try and double up a few days so I can finish it at the end of August if possible.

PatienceOfEngels · 06/08/2024 09:08

Day 2 of Breath YWA outside. A bit shorter than yesterday at 37 mins but still can feel it on my wrists. May try to do another this evening. Going to be a scorcher today. Loving the holiday feeling. Looking up through vines to a blue blue sky makes me feel like I'm in Italy (I'm definitely not 😂)

PatienceOfEngels · 07/08/2024 09:57

Day 3 of Breath YWA inside (raining!). 35 minutes.

PatienceOfEngels · 07/08/2024 20:09

Day 4 of Breath YWA outside (35 minutes). Glad to get a double in today!

Rummikub · 07/08/2024 20:38

Breathe is definitely too much and too long for me.

But I'm envious of your ability to do double sessions !@PatienceOfEngels

I think I'll have to find 20 mins or less sessions and one that's not so heavy on the wrists.

Does improve btw? Wrist strength? Is that a thing?

PatienceOfEngels · 08/08/2024 08:02

I agree with @Yogachick that this year's 30 day programme (Flow?) was much more manageable as they were mostly under 20 minutes.

I've only managed a double because I'm on school holidays at the moment. I struggle to get to the mat each day when I'm back at work and life is a bit more hectic.

You have to start where you're at. I usually don't finish the 30 days in January in one month! This year I managed to finish by mid-February and then had a break until April.

Definitely improves (wrist strength) with practice.

Just about to head out to do day 5 of Breath.

PatienceOfEngels · 09/08/2024 13:18

Day 6 of Breath (28 minutes). managed to do outside before it started raining. As is usually the way with YWA - core/abs day! I definitely skipped a few reps but also can feel the positive difference in my body from last year.

Will consider a double tomorrow since Day 8 us usually more restorative.

Yogachick · 09/08/2024 17:13

Well done @PatienceOfEngels . Actually got to the mat today with Day 1 of Flow. Felt very good to be back😀

Must be something in the air today Yogachick!

Day 6 of Breathe. But that's the first bit of yoga in months.

I succumbed to the email. She said it was suitable for beginners and come as you are. So I did! But regretted it during low boat.

I am glad I did it though. Not too bad of 28 mins but lots if breaks in between. On the video she kept saying if you've taken a break join back
In. How did she know 😂

Rummikub · 10/08/2024 11:40

Yesterday/ weekend I mean

PatienceOfEngels · 10/08/2024 19:21

@Rummikub I know - She just knows!

Did Day 7 of breath this morning (blue skies and sunshine) and day 8 just now (grey skies and noisy neighbours!).

PatienceOfEngels · 11/08/2024 10:07

Did Day 9 and 10 of Breath this morning. Going to be super hot here today and over the next few days so would rather get a double in while it's cooler and quiet.

Back to blue skies and a gentle breeze. Noisy neighbours were asleep or at least inside at 8:30am 😅

Really liked Day 10 Connect. Have realised why I hate alternate nostrils breathing - one of my nostrils is partially blocked!
