I did Move day 4 yesterday but struggled with it a bit. This week has been hard with teething and colds, and I think it all hit me yesterday. I haven't decided whether to do day 5 today or something super gentle.

@happytobemrsg is there anything you've always wanted to do? I always find it easier to commit to exercise when it's a hobby rather than just exercise - I was much fitter when I did a martial art than I ever was when running, for example. And the trapeze - I saw photos of it and thought it looked amazing, but it took me ages to pluck up the courage to do it. But I wouldn't be without it now. People might say oh you need this much cardio or whatever, but the fact is that exercise that you do is a million times better than exercise you skip because you find it boring or whatever.

It's going to sound very negative but... I know that I hate going to the gym. We have a commercial grade gym at home & I never use it. I did use the treadmill during lockdown to do C25k but of course that stopped. I don't feel very safe running outside on my own & we have 2 young children. About 10 years ago I did karate & loved it for the same reason I love yoga - I have to really concentrate on the moves & as a result I get completely engrossed & switch off. I have a very stressful day job so this is perfect for me. Our treadmill broke thanks to an over excited boxer we had staying with us, but I was thinking of replacing that & adding some walking/jogging before my yoga each day. I don't love it though. I'm open to suggestions!

BTW I went ahead & ordered a new yoga mat! Will share will you all when it arrives, I'm very excited!

Buttalapasta · 05/02/2023 12:51

I did day 5 of Move today and loved it despite finding everything challenging (except squat which weirdly is just comfy for me). I really don't want to miss a day as I know from experience that my brain will use it as an excuse to chuck it all in (happened in March last year). I have promised myself a new yoga mat if I can do 4 months!

Rummikub · 05/02/2023 14:48

Day 3 center shift.

I found this hard! Tried some of the modifications and I’m not ready yet!
I always feel better after doing it.

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 05/02/2023 18:08

Because I am a button for punishment and wanted a short practice today after a swim and a run I did day 6 of centre. My abs know they have worked hard today! Will go back to day 4 tomorrow...I figure as long as I do them it doesn't really matter what order I do them in.

Prestissimo · 05/02/2023 22:02

Just done Day 4 of move and for the first time actually really enjoyed the flow. It helped that my transition from down dog to lunge suddenly worked and also I like the bit where she speeds up so it's just one breath in each move - makes it much easier for me.

I've done this one several times before but today it just felt really good Smile

Interested in all these new mats. Mine is a thick, squishy Pilates mat and I tend to step off when we're doing balances but some PPs mention that a thinner mat is helpful in other moves as well? (I really don't need a new mat...)

VerbenaView · 05/02/2023 22:22

Center Day 5 complete, I am really enjoying it, and am improving my technique. I also think my heels are coming down a touch in DD.

Yogachick · 06/02/2023 06:52

Move Day 6. All that I imagined. I could do more in full plank than before,so progress but still use knees, bent legs ,etc. My head feels incredibly heavy when I’m doing that leaning back on the elbows thing and I struggle to get my knees parallel, probably because of my somewhat generous belly in the way. Definitely too much hip flexor action. Definitely need to do this one more often, but I know I won’t because of the dread factor.

hoochyhag · 06/02/2023 08:40

Day 6 move.
Wow my poor tummy muscles, but it was good.
Plank with bringing knees in I found hard and almost gave up.
However hard it is, you know that she won't do it for long, so it incentivises me to keep going.
Glad I did center first.

ScottishBeth · 06/02/2023 08:40

@OhOneOhTwoOhThree I can't believe you did day voluntarily! And after a swim and a run! You must have been shattered.

@VerbenaView I have noticed I'm able to have slightly straighter legs and lower heels in DD, without compromising my spine shape. So pleased!

I just felt worse and worse as the day went on yesterday. So in the end I did my own thing for a few minutes before bed. Just some stretches really, but I'm counting it as yoga because I focused on my breath throughout. Am feeling much better today, so will do Move day 5 later.

Sooverthemill · 06/02/2023 09:01

I repeated say 14 as I’m feeling a bit unwell and it’s so nice

Also my technique is definitely improving.

Oh my move day 6!!! My poor stomach! That was tough but I enjoyed it. Hindered at the beginning by my arm strength, my core hurt but it was my arms that gave way so had to rest which was frustrating

Jumbojem · 06/02/2023 13:04

I'm a day behind as had a busy and otherwise very active Saturday. So did Move Day 5 this morning, perfect hip and glutes stretches which I really needed.
I'm hoping to do the dreaded Day 6 tonight so I'm caught back up. I'm reality Saturdays are always going to be a struggle timewise for the next few weeks as my DS2 has so many sporting fixtures which can involve long drives but I'll try to catch up on other days!

CeeCeeDeeBee · 06/02/2023 16:00

Just did Center day 4, held the tree pose a lot longer than last month. Still a couple of days behind, will try to catch up this week.

BestIsWest · 06/02/2023 16:41

Center day 5. I’d forgotten how long this one is.

Fandangles · 06/02/2023 18:36

Had a hangover on Saturday so doubled up today, doing Move day 5 and 6.

Day 6…what the fresh hell! 😂

can’t believe I’m still going beyond 30 days. I really hope it’s becoming an ingrained habit. I bloody love it (although day 6, not so much!)

massive, massive well done to everyone 👏

ScottishBeth · 06/02/2023 20:38

@Fandangles it's amazing isn't it? Are you noticing any changes?I did Move day 5 today. Am not looking forward to day 6!

I got my partner to take photos of me in DD and plank, so I'm going to have a look and see what my alignment looks like.

ScottishBeth · 06/02/2023 20:44

And I've just reviewed the photos! I think the problem is my shoulders should be open more - that's why my hands are a little closer to my feet in DD than in plank.

happytobemrsg · 06/02/2023 21:13

Day 6 done. I had to stop a couple of times at the start but overall I enjoyed it!

@Prestissimo my current mat is foam, thick & squishy. I sink into it & have zero grip when I’m sweaty in downward dog. I bought it YEARS ago when I first thought about doing yoga (1 in person class & hated every second 😂)

happytobemrsg · 06/02/2023 21:24

Hope you feel better soon @Sooverthemill

Chimna · 06/02/2023 21:47

Only managed move day 5 today but loved it.

VerbenaView · 06/02/2023 21:50

@ScottishBeth glad you're feeling better today. It's so satisfying improving, isn't it? I'm sure with the photos you can make the small improvements. I have no idea what I look like, certainly not graceful like Adriene, I'm just glad that I'm enjoying what I am doing.

@Fandangles I'm turning into a yoga bore, I absolutely love it. I knew that I would make the 30 days, as I was absolutely determined to complete it, but I didn't anticipate that I would enjoy it SO much. This group also really helps, I enjoy reading everyone's comments too.

@Sooverthemill hope you're feeling better soon.

Centre Day 6 complete, found it challenging at times and had to put my legs down for a second, but a great sense of achievement once done.

Fandangles · 06/02/2023 22:01

@ScottishBeth haha, don’t let me put you off day 6 - you’ll feel so good after 😉

I can definitely feel a difference in the way I move day to day, not just on the mat. It’s also given me a real mental boost to know I can actually stick to something for more than a few days! Great idea to take photos - I might try that too.

@happytobemrsg completely agree with what you say about being mentally engaged and therefore switching off all the other noise! Getting into yoga positions has definitely helped me in that way.

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 06/02/2023 22:28

I wanted another short practice tonight so did day 12 of centre. Back to front arms in table top was slightly less difficult than last time.

HellonHeels · 06/02/2023 22:41

Move day 6. Really didn't like it, for me it made everything hurt except my abs. Those side plank variations made my shoulder joints hurt and then my hands went numb and tingly. Next time round Im going to swap it for Center day 6
