Do you wear makeup to work?

Potentially Starting new role soon on site after long stint of WFH. I'm not fan of makeup day to day, but will make an effort for special occasions. It doesn't even look that good on me IMO and I have quite clear skin touchwood (provided thresholding, plucking all done lol).

Just debating whether to bother as it will mean buying new fresh makeup as I haven't updated it properly for a while.

It's an office role in finance.

I do mascara only, but even then not always. Like you, not such a fan! ☺️

TheCurious0range · 20/06/2025 07:06

I do but fairly minimal, tinted moisturiser/bb cream, mascara and lip balm , sometimes glossier cloud paint which is a cream cheek tint. I also use boy brow a tinted brow gel/pomade. So enough that I don't look knackered but not enough that I look made up if that makes sense. Whole lot takes five minutes.

ToClimb · 20/06/2025 07:09

I had my eye liner tattooed on 15 years ago. I never wear anything else apart from tinted spf50 moisturiser in the summer.

BlackBean2023 · 20/06/2025 07:10

BB cream, mascara and a bit of tinted Vaseline. Takes a couple of minutes but makes me look a bit less knackered!

Custark · 20/06/2025 07:27

I wear foundation, blusher, eye shadow, eye liner, mascara, eyebrow pencil. Takes about 5 minutes.

Jealous of people who are happy with how they look without all that tbh. I’m pale and blonde though without very defined features, so feel a lot more confident with some make-up.

Headingtowardsdivorce · 20/06/2025 07:29

I don't.

RampantIvy · 20/06/2025 07:32

Being dark haired and dark eyed, I have well defined features, but I am pale. I just wear tinted moisturiser, blusher and lipstick.

RabbitsRock · 20/06/2025 07:35

I work on a till & used to wear make up daily but haven’t since Covid, even though I went shopping in January with DD16 & spent a lot on a kit for both of us.

Eileen101 · 20/06/2025 07:35

No. I haven't in years. At least 7 years as now I have kids I have neither time to sit and apply make up nor the motivation to do so.

I'm a solicitor so it hasn't held me back. If people are judging, it's clearly silent as I've heard nothing, so I couldn't care really.

I'm always clean and tidy so it matters not. I'm also not the only person in my office in a similar position.

ungratefulcat · 20/06/2025 07:37

No, zero make up.
Some women are very made up, others don't wear any.
I just got out of the habit of it.

ExtensivelyDecluttering · 20/06/2025 07:40

At the minimum eyebrow pencil and mascara, I have phases where I also use tinted moisturiser, a bit of eyeliner and a slick of cream eyeshadow but never use blusher, highlighter etc and rarely bother with anything on my lips because it wears off and I'd forget to reapply it, special occasions only for lip colour. My colleagues vary from none at all to similar to me, no one wears a "full face".

PashaMinaMio · 20/06/2025 07:41

Yes I always wore make up to work. I like wearing foundation or tinted moisturiser, blusher, mascara and definitely lip stick.

Sometimes I was public facing so It made me feel more confident, set me apart and made me feel more polished” and finessed but that’s just me.

Each to her own.

AgnesX · 20/06/2025 07:41

I've dreadful skin so yes. I'm at the age where I need a makeover as my foundation doesn't sit well any more.

Calyx72 · 20/06/2025 07:43

I have dark undereye circles so I use concealer every day. Curl lashes. Something on my lips as otherwise they are dry and pale. And if I have something on like meetings I will use eye pencil.

Ohmych · 20/06/2025 07:44

I used to wear makeup everyday in work until I had to use a facemask during covid and stopped because it was pointless. I've never got back to wearing it again just for special occasions now.

myplace · 20/06/2025 07:46

No one I work with wears any. I wear lipstick and eyeliner, as otherwise I’m featureless. I used to wear brow makeup too, but with glasses it’s pointless.

Mingenious · 20/06/2025 07:48

Apart from lipstick I almost never wear make up to work, and lipstick is pretty occasional for when I’ve got a big meeting.

I only really bother with proper make up when I’m going somewhere special. I just can’t be arsed. Very few people I work with seem to bother nowerdays.

Liondoesntsleepatnight · 20/06/2025 07:49

In this heat I used powder foundation, stops my face from sweating

Poppiesandroses · 20/06/2025 08:40

Without it people look at me like I look weird because I have no features. I wear eyebrow pencil, bb cream and mascara but not much else by way of makeup up

SoftPillow · 20/06/2025 08:44

I do as I’m on screen most of the day and look better with some on (under eye concealer, bronzer or tinted moisturiser, eyebrows, mascara - very simple)

But plenty of people don’t, and no one would notice or comment, just as we wouldn’t comment on a full face of make up. I don’t think anyone thinks or cares about anyone else’s make-up (meant kindly)

Kelim · 20/06/2025 08:46

Nope, and I can only think of one woman who does - the receptionist.

Frequency · 20/06/2025 08:51

I used to, religiously, but then one day I overslept and didn't have time, and spent the rest of the day fending off questions about whether I was ill and did I need to go home. Because my look was quite natural, a lot of people didn't notice my make-up, but they did notice that without it, I appeared pale and tired. It made me feel like I had to do my makeup for work even if I didn't want to that day.

Since then, if ever I start a new job, I do not wear makeup for the first few weeks. That way, if ever I fancy putting some makeup on, people comment on how good and healthy I look rather than the other way around.

330ml · 20/06/2025 08:54

No, but then I rarely wear any makeup at all.

SJM1988 · 20/06/2025 09:01

Nope! I stopped along time ago.
I work in an engineering office which is mainly men and no one has ever commented. Most other women don't either - there is the odd one who goes all out full face though.

wizzywig · 20/06/2025 09:02

Yep I always wear makeup. All week round
