Monday off 100%

HappiestSleeping · 20/03/2025 16:51

I used to work four ten hour days, and had Mondays off. It was fine.

HomeBodyClub · 20/03/2025 16:52

Friday off.
I like productive Mondays and fun Fridays.

Starlightstarbright4 · 20/03/2025 16:52

Friday - hairdressers are closed Monday . I have done before . Friday means b/h weeks you do a 3day week .

coxesorangepippin · 20/03/2025 16:53

Monday

You'll do less work over time

Unless the work is project based, and you manage your own deadlines

Bjorkdidit · 20/03/2025 16:56

Not what you asked, but Wednesday.

A lot of things are closed Monday or busier or more expensive on Friday.

Plus it breaks up the week and you only ever have to work 2 days in a row. Fun things often happen at work on Friday but you're also available when people ate trying to finish things off without being delayed by those whose working week ends on Thursday.

Friday.

I currently do 4 days and having Friday to prepare for the weekend is so lovely, housework / admin done, ready to relax and enjoy the weekend.

My friend doesn't work a Monday and loves it, she does the housework and admin and feels clear for the week ahead!

Whatevershallidowithmylife · 20/03/2025 16:57

It used to be Mondays for me so I could get the house sorted for the week ahead as I didn’t do any housework at weekends. Hardly anyone was in the office on Fridays so got a lot more work done that day too.

saveforthat · 20/03/2025 16:58

I'd do Monday because you will get pro rata bank holidays. Most BH are on a Monday, you could end up eating into your annual leave if Monday is a working day.

Shetlands · 20/03/2025 16:58

My Mum had Mondays off and lost all of the Bank Holiday Mondays (don't know if that would happen now but check to find out before you decide).

Cheguevarahamster · 20/03/2025 16:59

Work 4 days and have Friday off. I love it.

I used to take Wednesdays off and agree you only have to work 2 days in a row.

She shouldn't have lost them. A pro rata amount should be added to your annual leave.

SummerHouse · 20/03/2025 17:01

I like being in the office on a Friday. It's a nice vibe. I actually have a Thursday off so come weds evening I feel like I have pretty much made it. I think it's the perfect day to take off.

This was years ago and she just lost them. Good to know it wouldn't happen now.

HundredPercentUnsure · 20/03/2025 17:02

Mondays off.

Fridays are easier going days usually any way.

skippy67 · 20/03/2025 17:11

Monday.

LurkyLarry · 20/03/2025 17:23

Mondays. Definitely. I'm just about reaching the end of my first year of working 4 day weeks & I wouldn't change the day for anything. Everywhere is quiet on a Monday which suits me. You get most of your Bank Holidays back (pro rata) to use when you want. The downside for me is that I feel behind on the week when I start work on a Tuesday. However, I get so much work done on a Friday as everyone else is off or winding down then.

I'm horrified that people use their days off to do housework though! That's not a day off. I must admit that housework is always at the bottom of my list though. Do many men use days off to do unpaid work? Childcare I can understand, but housework??

FedUpandEatingChocolate · 20/03/2025 17:31

Monday off, but only if you get bank holidays added to your leave (pro-rated).

EmmaStone · 20/03/2025 17:41

Monday for the BH benefit as explained by previous posters, but if that's not an issue, a Friday.

I have Mondays off and come into work on a Tuesday always feeling on the back foot. I catch up on Friday as the office is dead.

Mindovermatter45 · 20/03/2025 17:45

I'd pick Fridays!

There are at least 4 bank holidays this year which fall on a Monday...

TheGrimSmile · 20/03/2025 17:53

But you still get your bank holiday in lieu. I don't understand why people think you lose the bank holiday?

SmokeyPink · 20/03/2025 17:54

Mondays because the bank holidays are added to my annual leave to use when I like. I used to have a Wednesday off, I did like only ever working two days in a row but every bank holiday I was told I ‘owed’ time back because you don’t get the full BH allowance but you have to take the full day off.

RunAwayTurnAwayRunAwayTurnAway · 20/03/2025 18:09

Wednesday.

CoastalCalm · 20/03/2025 18:18

I do Wednesday it’s brilliant having a midweek break
