Keeping warm while WFH

BloodyVarifocals · 26/11/2024 18:28

Would love to hear how everyone else keeps warm while WFH - my house is relatively warm, but I tend to feel the cold.

Some of my favourite things:
Small plug in heated pad that I've strapped to my office chair
Ugg boots worn as slippers (have lasted for a few years so far)
Various neck warmers
M&S light heat tech vests and long sleeved tops to wear underneath woolly jumpers
Turtledove fingerless gloves

Small blanket for on my knee when I need it
Cheap leg warmers (Amazon)

I don't use all of these at once 😄. I've also just bought a Beurer plug in cushion for on the sofa, bliss.

Heated throw. It’s my favourite thing.

Travellingraspberry · 26/11/2024 18:35

Second a heated throw!

cindertoffeeapple · 26/11/2024 18:35

Seasalt slipper boots are amazingly cosy

RaininSummer · 26/11/2024 18:35

Warm clothes and heated throw. Lots of hot drinks and a hot lunch like soup.

BloodyVarifocals · 26/11/2024 18:37

I actually gave my heated throw to my mother, and it saves me from freezing to death when I visit her.

I need to eat more soup.

Heated seat pad, blanket and fingerless gloves here too.
Fleecy lined leggings and sweatshirt and uggs keep me warm all day.

BloodyVarifocals · 26/11/2024 18:38

I actually just had a bath to warm up as I'd somehow become cold.

Another vote for heated blanket. Game changer.

notprincehamlet · 26/11/2024 18:41

Heated throw. Although I did put the heating on this afternoon because my face was hurting with the cold.

TomaytoTomaato · 26/11/2024 18:42

Hat!

StressedQueen · 26/11/2024 18:43

I have heated socks that I am obsessed with. Then I pretty much just layer with loads of thick blankets and warm jumpers. Hot chocolate is a must

😄

I don't actually have a lot of meetings, so I could do this.

Long johns under jersey tracksuit bottoms. Layers on upper body and hoodie with hood up unless on zoom. Endless cups of tea. Dp has a heated gilet, which I keep meaning to try.

EmotionalSupportPotato · 26/11/2024 18:44

At some point you have to put the heating on

Babyboomtastic · 26/11/2024 18:44

The same way I stay warm the rest of the time in the house - heating and an electric throw for an extra boost.

Please tell us more about your heated socks!

DH's colleague has a heated foot thing that you out your feet into, but I thought the bulkiness might put me off as my home office is bijou.

My game changer has been sitting in a sleeping bag. So toasty for my feet. Just up to waist so not visible on Teams etc.

Moier · 26/11/2024 18:45

Just the same as us oldies or disabled who are at home ( although not working).Central heating ./ fire..
Heated throw.. electric blanket.
Warm clothes/ socks/ slippers etc.
Don't understand why working from home makes you any colder than those who are at home all the time?

Yes, my heating is on via a thermostat all day 🙈.

Yeah, I can see your point - I do think i move around less when I'm WFH though.

Turn it up?

BloodyVarifocals · 26/11/2024 18:52

@EmotionalSupportPotato, i have to find a balance between keeping me warm, and not making everyone else in the house too hot.

Probably needs to be turned up a notch.

Well some of us can't hardly move.
I grew up with no central heating..or double glazing.
Just one coal fire..we kept warm with extra layers.. coats on bed.. two pairs of socks.. hats n gloves.
We had a paraffin heater at the top of the stairs to warm all the bedrooms and landing. ..
Made of stronger stuff back then lol.
