I've never done this before and dint realise there is a work topic.
I want to log something unacceptable that happened to me with hr but don't want any action taken at the moment. If I ask for it to be confidential will it be?

HR always gets a bad rap on MN. I've had very positive experiences when I've needed help from HR before.

As PP have said, HR don't get truly involved until you get to the raising a grievance stage, but I've been given good advice on how to document things for myself so when I was ready to raise a grievance I already had evidence to hand. And I was clear in my head what I wanted to raise.

Without knowing what your issues are, it's hard to fully advise, but usually there is a specific HR person for your area of the business. So I'd start by finding out who that is and have an informal chat with them.
