Waiting to hear from applications!!

Who else is waiting to hear back??

I have a job, that until recently I absolutely loved, but it's becoming too much now. I have decided I need a better work life balance, so applying for a slight change in roles.

I have only applied for two jobs so far, meet the criteria and qualifications, but I'm not sure if I will be considered or not, as it is a change, and I have very specific qualifications, so it's killing me waiting to see if these roles are worth applying for!! It's only been 2 days. 😅

Need to chat to others waiting too!!!

Also I have been in my current role 3 years, and was self employed for 7 years before that so feel very out of practice applying and interviewing. I'm excited and nervous all at the same time. 🙈

How long is it normal to wait???

Oh congratulations @MamaTess !!

Still no news here for the external post I would love. Online system still just says submitted.

Internal promotion I have - my name was always on it but as half of my team are off or have left they can't release me 🤯😫

ShortSilence · 14/09/2023 10:59

Congratulations @MamaTess - I have just read through the whole thread Smile When do you start?

I totally recognise that urge to seek out and apply for various other things once you've applied for one. You get into the swing of it a bit.

While I've been waiting I have applied for two more roles - one of which I wouldn't have been confident about if not for getting to a second interview with my existing application. So I guess that's been beneficial in terms of mindset, even if it goes no further.

StrawberryFizz27 · 14/09/2023 14:26

Well done @MamaTess that's brilliant news.

I had an update yesterday to say the t recruiter should know no later than Monday so fingers crossed I'm still in the running.

The original advert shows as expired but had been reposted so I don't know what to make of that.

I'm trying to stay positive and will hope for good news for me & everyone else waiting.

Gizlotsmum · 14/09/2023 19:23

Have kept missing calls from the recruiting manager today, I know it is a no but I want to know if it’s a no please don’t apply again or a close try again and you might be luckier…

ShortSilence · 15/09/2023 08:19

Here’s hoping we all get some news before the weekend Brew

Gizlotsmum · 15/09/2023 09:17

So confirmed I didn’t get it. Getting feedback next week so hopefully come away with some areas to develop before trying again.

StrawberryFizz27 · 15/09/2023 10:02

Sorry to hear that @Gizlotsmum
Hopefully the feed back will be useful and you can build on it for next time.

ShortSilence · 15/09/2023 11:37

Ahh I’m sorry to hear it too, @Gizlotsmum. Good idea to look at it as useful experience though. Hope the feedback will be constructive when it comes.

flowerpot258 · 18/09/2023 17:12

I haven't had feedback from an interview I attended. I asked for feedback on 6th September and haven't had any acknowledgment.

Do I sent another email? Or just accept that they aren't going to provide any ?

Gizlotsmum · 18/09/2023 18:15

A flowerpot, is there a number you could call?

StrawberryFizz27 · 19/09/2023 16:01

I didn't get it. It was a tight decision hence its taken so long to make the decision!

Their loss though and I will keep looking for something else.

Gizlotsmum · 19/09/2023 16:04

@StrawberryFizz27 sorry to hear that. At least you know. There will be better opportunities

Frenchfancy · 19/09/2023 16:42

@StrawberryFizz27 If it was a tight decision that means you did well at interview. Better luck next time.

I'm still waiting. I'm planning interview outfits just in case.

toucaninjapan · 20/09/2023 13:20

Congratulations @MamaTess and sorry to hear that @Gizlotsmum and @StrawberryFizz27

I've had one interview and unfortunately I didn't like the vibe, the people, conditions, everything. Oh well.
I've counted how many jobs I have applied to already - about 35 and only 1 interview invitation so far. 😥
Well there were only 5 jobs out of those which I suited perfectly (experience and all of the skills they wanted), but unfortunately they all want a "native citizen" - as heavily hinted by my recruiter. 🙄 My job is so niche that there're no more job offers for this particular role in the whole country and everything else I applied was for a different (albeit similar) industry. Not a good fit there either as too old to learn new things at 32. 🙄
I have a couple more companies I still haven't heard back from, fingers crossed 🤞🏻
And there I was last year, wondering why some of the people I know took more than a year to change a job... Now it makes perfect sense

Nugg · 21/09/2023 10:19

Ah I'm so sorry to hear that @StrawberryFizz27 and @Gizlotsmum such a disappointment.

Wellll I have an interview for the external pretty big promotion post 🤞🏼next weds 9am so so excited and nervous!!

The internal secondment is mine but until we recruit into the team they can't release me due to long term sickness and others leaving.

I neeeed the external one!!

Frenchfancy · 21/09/2023 16:40

Well done for the interview @Nugg

I got a rejection email today from my dream job. Don't really know where to go from here tbh.

Nugg · 21/09/2023 19:45

Oh no @Frenchfancy this is my fear as this external role is a dream job for me.

do they come up often? Did you get feedback?

Liveafr · 22/09/2023 08:13

Hello, I'm joining the club as well! After applying for a job I would really love, I had a first pre-interview with a hiring consultant last week, then an interview with the hiring manager last Tuesday. The suspense is killing me!

MamaTess · 09/11/2023 19:23

How's everyone getting on now? Have some.of you started your new jobs? I started this week!

OP posts:
NoWordForFluffy · 09/11/2023 19:34

I still have two weeks of my notice period left. It's taking forever!

How are you finding it so far, @MamaTess?

MamaTess · 09/11/2023 19:38

I gave quite a long notice but went so fast! I'm finding it good, just mainly been getting to know the systems etc this week. Everyone has been very nice and welcoming though, role is a nice mix of what I have been doing and some new skills I need to learn. Hours are actually amazing - it's so lovely to be home by 5 every evening! 😊

Nugg · 10/11/2023 18:59

Late news update here. I finally started the internal promotion last week. Absolutely loving it!! Not as a big a jump in pay as the external one but I'm very comfortable in my role abs making a difference. Still a 25% rise tho! Not to be sniffed at.

BunnyBunnyJabberJabber · 12/11/2023 21:36

The recruitment process has proven painfully slow. Lots of refs and background checks.. I am waiting for a start date now.
Hope you all have good news to share.
