Waiting to hear from applications!!

Who else is waiting to hear back??

I have a job, that until recently I absolutely loved, but it's becoming too much now. I have decided I need a better work life balance, so applying for a slight change in roles.

I have only applied for two jobs so far, meet the criteria and qualifications, but I'm not sure if I will be considered or not, as it is a change, and I have very specific qualifications, so it's killing me waiting to see if these roles are worth applying for!! It's only been 2 days. 😅

Need to chat to others waiting too!!!

Also I have been in my current role 3 years, and was self employed for 7 years before that so feel very out of practice applying and interviewing. I'm excited and nervous all at the same time. 🙈

How long is it normal to wait???

I had an interview last week on Friday. Still waiting to hear back. It's only been a few days really but the wait is killing me! I'm so impatient and I don't even know if they will get back to me this week or next.

Like you I have applied for a slightly different job than the one I'm doing just now so I'm not confident I'll get the job, which is okay, but the suspense is unbearable Blush

Oh good luck!!! It's hard when you are applying for different things, I'm not sure what to expect. But I think if they interviewed you then they must be happy that your experience meets the criteria right? Did the interview go well? I'm unbelievably impatient, it's so hard waiting.

@MamaTess a when do you expect to hear something from them?

Yeah I think the interview went well. I didn't come away from it thinking 'omg that was awful'. I answered all the questions confidently with no stutters or awkward silences! But I think if there's someone else with prior experience in that field they would probably get it over me.
Overall it was a good experience and even if I'm not success this time it's given me some experience for future interviews

MamaTess · 06/09/2023 13:47

I have had another interview offer! 🤞🎉

2 out 3 so far, so at the very least I must be on the right track for the types of positions I am applying for, right? It's made me feel alot better, even if I messed up one (or my emails did!) 😊

The third one is a very different role, which I think I might prefer - but still saying 'under consideration' on the portal. 😏

Good luck, @flowerpot258!

And yay, @MamaTess. Good luck to you too!

Gizlotsmum · 07/09/2023 08:11

That’s fantastic @MamaTess def doing something right!

StrawberryFizz27 · 07/09/2023 12:24

I did a 2nd interview last week, it went really well but I'm still waiting to hear.

The original recruiter is on leave until Monday, someone else is covering him and I emailed on Tuesday for an update to be told it might be next week when I find out.

I really, really want the job and have actually felt quite anxious waiting to hear. I just want to know one way or another. Patience is not my strong point!!!

Good luck to everyone else waiting too.

Gizlotsmum · 07/09/2023 14:03

@StrawberryFizz27 everything crossed for you. So the person I suspect they want in the role is interviewing for it. I suspect it is a foregone conclusion but will still interview for the experience.

I don't know why it takes them so long. It's so hard to wait!

The one that I missed all the emails from, emailed back today to say that they would still like to interview me, if I'm still interested. Apparently 'due to my strong application'. Now I feel really under pressure. 😬

@MamaTess that has to be a good sign!!

StrawberryFizz27 · 08/09/2023 07:14

@MamaTess Good luck!

Still nothing for me, I have resigned myself to it being at least Monday but I'm having a dental procedure so stressing about missing the call!!

I also wonder if the stand in recruiter doesn't want to give me the bad news or if it's better for the original person to handle everything.

Waiting is the worst!!

BunnyBunnyJabberJabber · 08/09/2023 15:09

I thought you'd like to hear an update from me!
It seems me and my wrinkles won in the end as I have been offered the job. It is actually a very interesting position (NHS) with provision for NVQ study, and a chance to add a newer qualification to the ancient ones I have already☺️. I also got an apology regarding the interview, and extra points for the way I handled it, apparently.
Good luck to all of you who have also had good news, and fingers crossed for those still waiting. Keep the faith!

@MamaTess well done. I don’t think I answered the leadership question well enough.. however there are going to be other opportunities in the team ( lots of people leaving/ on maternity) so I should be able to try again! Still waiting to officially be told! Also they way they were talking about offering feedback etc…

Frenchfancy · 13/09/2023 14:55

Congratulations @MamaTess

I just came onto the thread as I'm getting frustrated waiting. I've applied for a few roles but either had rejections or no reply.

I saw the perfect job for me on Friday, I spent the weekend polishing my CV and writing a letter and sent the application in on Sunday. I've had an automated reply back saying they've received it.

When I saw the job I matched 9(and a half) of the skills they are looking for. (The half because I don't have the exact non essential experience they would like but I have significant equivalent experience). I looked at indeed today and now I only match 5 as they have changed the job description 😕I actually have most of the new skills they are asking for, but my CV and letter we all based of the previous requirements.

I've been in my current role for 5years in a very small company, and before that was self employed for 18 years so I am very out of date . This would be going back to a big company. At 52 I'm also worried about the age aspect.

NoWordForFluffy · 13/09/2023 15:51

Well done, @MamaTess!

🤞 @Gizlotsmum.

ShortSilence · 13/09/2023 16:10

@Frenchfancy that's so frustrating about the changes to the description!

I feel you on the age worries. I'm a year or two behind you and also coming from a lengthy period of self-employment (freelancing) to try and get a salaried postion again. It's daunting.

Currently awaiting the result of a second-round interview a week ago. They said that I was down to the final five people (out of nearly 500!) and there are two positions.

I have deadlines to meet but can't focus on anything because I keep refreshing my emails. Just want putting out of my misery!
