Can I get fired for this?

Please be kind I'm extremely stressed right now.

I started a job in relatively senior position to be told 5 weeks later I was at risk of redundancy (no fault of my own). I've been extremely stressed due to this as I was at the last place for a very long time.

Anyway I stupidly sent an email to my boss late one night (drinks had been consumed) basically saying there are loads of issues and you've messed me about massively basically. No swearing and not abusive in any way.

I recalled the message soon after I'd sent it but obviously unsuccessfully.

Anyway now they are saying they are going to fire me for gross misconduct! Can they do this?

You're likey to need to look or another job now. Yes, they can dismiss you without notice.

I've been offered another better job! I'm so happy!

Fingers crossed you keep this job a bit longer than the last one and dont let booze be the default reason for getting fired again. 👍

And if you knew anything about employment, you would know that people are NEVER made redundant - jobs are redundant, not people. The people in posts are dismissed by reason of redundancy, and that can happen to anyone at any time the second after they start a role. What is the case is that people dismissed on the basis of redundancy are not entitled to statutory redundancy pacakages (although an employer may offer better than that). Perhaps the employer knew all of that because you obviously didn't.

Amazing news!!! So happy that it's worked out for you.

I do think the previous employer was taking advantage a bit and just trying to wiggle out of paying you so good riddance to them.

As you are aware, I did so but you seem to be keener to dish out than to take it as you had those comments deleted despite there being nothing offensive in them other than to point out again why you are wrong. You called the OP's posts BS - I leave it to others to decide what you are suggesting by doing that.

Pls point me to the comment where I said the OP was a liar?

If this isn't calling the OP a liar, I don't know what is!

canigetfiredforthis · 21/06/2023 18:01

Just wanted to point out if I was going to 'BS' I'd probably try and think of something a bit more interesting than this! 😂

There is more than one way to call someone a liar without using the actual word. A common one is a bullshitter which is what you used.

Your meaning was very clear.
