Work toilets

I work within education and I'm absolutely fed up of our work toilets being left in the following way ......

  • drip/s of wee on the seat,
-stinking like a sewer you walk in and your eyes literally stream
  • no toilet roll ..... new roles are located in back of toilet /window cill
-or the worst ..... fanny gravel left on the seat 🤢🤮 without outing my work place by being so specific we only have 3 men who work at my work place, over 60 women so the chances are the culprits are actually women.

Is this actual normal work place behaviour?!

We have the no standing on the seat signs too.
I was told that some toilet users from some parts of the world to this because it's more hygienic where they come from.

How do you even shit in that position? That can't be comfortable or easy to maintain for any number of minutes? Hovering for a wee is enough for my thighs but unless it was an urgent number two well I don't know how I could maintain that position for any length of time.

Having read the whole thread I realise I must have lead a very sheltered life because I still have no clue what fanny gravel/litter/clitter is. Nor, thankfully have I ever come across it.

And also who would stand on a toilet seat? And how the fuck would anyone get up there and manage to have a pee without breaking their neck? Um do they take their shoes off? And please nobody tell me these people do a number 2 whilst perched up there 😯

Please tell us what fanny gravel is, I googled it but it just comes up with an actual person Blush

Well that's an unfortunate name.....

The horror of work toilets is surely why a lot of people prefer to work from home!

I'm so grateful to work where I do. Our loos are individual self-contained rooms with a loo, plus basin and mirror as well, and are always clean.

I'm just wondering where all my fanny gravel is going ...

I used to work in higher education, the toilets were grim(and that was before they made them unisex). The standing on the seat thing is rife because of other countries seeing it as cleaner! The other thing was the toilet paper in the sanitary bin so it was always overflowing. Once there was shit all over the toilet seat, blood on the floor, the constant smell.

We had signs up about leaving them the way you wish to find them but they were obviously ignored.

Even now I work in the private sector the toilets can be a bit iffy at times but there are so many you'll find a clean one and if you use the ones by reception, they're usually spotless.

Could also be responsible for high levels of sickness absence....not to mention work mice and work rats and work roaches. That is a whole different thread!

What was home toilets be like though if people are leaving work toilets in that state?

BCBird · 04/04/2023 06:43

I'm.in educated too. The kids keep putting bottles down the toilets and this affects the pipes for staff toilets too. They are constantly being shit because of this. It a nightmare. Paper towels have been removed and an extra hand dryer installed but this causes problems as there is not enough time for everyone to use the loo and was and dry hands. Tried explaining but no one listening. It's not like in an.office where there are not set breaks so no bottle neck re usage. Fanny gravel made mr laff. I always check the loo, second nature.

Justontherightsideofnormal · 04/04/2023 18:58

@BCBird I feel your pain. Our phantom stinky/skiddy pooer has also returned...... no spray used to disguise the smell, skids left in the pan..... you can almost taste what they ate prior to visiting the toilet.
Before I offend anyone (which I don't want to do) if you have to go you have to go..... but just be mindful for the next person who goes in.

At one workplace, the WC seats would fall off one at a time by people putting their feet on them and breaking them. Housekeeping put up signs but the seat breakers continued.

Bogies stuck on the wall and a blood clot stuck on the back of the door at mine.
