Anyone any experience of The Learning People?

Just wondering if anyone has done a course with The Learning People. Are they any good? What's the course quality like? How much support do you get? Did you get a job from doing it? Etc etc.

I have signed up (and am about to pay quite a bit for) for a block of IT courses in an attempt to have a career change, but now I'm reading some pretty shocking reviews and considering cancelling as a result...

It's very strange. They have 4.8 out of 5 on TrustPilot which is great, but it seems that these reviews are from people who've done the really good orientation, rather than actually done the course. Then other review sites have 2/10 etc with some angry people saying they are con-artists and the courses are really poor quality with no support and little chance of actually passing the exams. Apparently the people you speak to on the phone are just sales people on commission who will try to convince you that you'll be earning tons within 6 months even if you have no IT experience to start with, like me. But then I noticed the exact same angry story coming up on different review sites as if it's the same person again and again.

I must admit, it did sound too good to be true and I was totally taken in by the sales patter. I was really excited by the idea of a career change too. So... anyone done a course with them? Should I commit or cancel? Thanks!

This people dont care for you, for your situation or anything, and the only thig they offer is low quality videos that you can EASILY find on youtube or just by googleing the topic. I had to send 3k GBP for my grandfathers operation, i even send them the paperwork from the hospital ( cancer on the intestine).... the only thing they sed is "sorry for the bearden but we still need the money".... . DO NOT NEROLL WITH THEM.... is the best advice i can give. They could easly given my spot to someone but NO....

GoodWizard · 01/07/2022 04:51

I am happy that I have read those reviews before to take a decision. And my decision is 'NO'. They will call me today to continue the discussion from yesterday. 😁😁😁

AleX89X · 01/07/2022 07:51

Hi all, as some of you I just sighned to warn you all.....DO NOT ENROL WITH THIS PEOPLE... the videos , the reading material , the support etc. You can f9nd for free online , there is nothing there they offer , that's worth the money they are asking for. I had to op out after the 10 days due to..... let me put it simple my grandfather was operated on for cancer ..... so all the money I had whent to the hospital .... I even send them the paperwork from the doctors so that they can we I'm not making things up.... the answer I got was that they feel sorry for the situation I'm in but they are still gonna need the rest of the payment!
So they kept the 1k I have them and they are still pestering me for the rest . So to all DO NOT ENROL WITH THEM, there videos and reading material can be found in better quality online for free!!!!!

Lprinsloo11 · 13/07/2022 02:03

Good day. What do they do if you don't pay the rest of the installments? I am in the same position. Best sale pitch ever. But I cant pay the rest and just want to cancel.

JohnDAVE do you work for The Learning People? Why are you here? What course did you do? Perhaps there are very easy courses out there that they offer and that's what you did. We are all incredibly capable people. I have a very good degree in Psychology and manage a career and 2 kids and god knows what else. There is no questioning my CAPABILITY in terms of managing stuff and being able to learn. But The Learning People are selling courses to people with no experience of IT, saying that these courses are suitable for beginners when they are NOT. The course material does not match the practice questions which you need to pass to be able to do the real exams. We should not be paying £4000 for a course that only gives half the information we need, then having to go and Google the rest of the information. If you'd read the whole thread you'd realise what our issues are and wouldn't be so damn rude questioning our intelligence. If you work for The Learning People then read the whole thread and tell them how we feel.

Lprinsloo11 - good luck with not paying the rest of the instalments! I don't know about you but I'm paying them through a different finance company - Duologi (they set it up). I expect if I didn't pay, I would end up in court, but the agreement is with them, not directly with The Learning People. They have their legal team and their carefully worded contract so you probably don't stand a chance but it would be very interesting to know if anybody had stopped paying and what happened. I still owe them for a year of payments even though I gave up with the course over a year ago. I am fuming.

Whoops1 · 03/08/2022 08:34

Hi, I have no knowledge of learning people ( and haven’t read tft)but there are a lot of free courses out there.look up w3 schools, which are free and very well recognised. There are more free programming etc courses too. I’m sure a quick Google will help. Also cousera , futurelearn, Google. ,all do free courses. Also UpSkill digital. LinkedIn learning isn’t free but is nothing like those prices.
I am not sure what areas you are looking for, but went thru a similar thing wondering about digital mums, I was told by someone who knows that Google is the industry go to. He also said if you want work, learn Wordpress inside out and you’ll always be busy.

Whoops1 · 03/08/2022 08:36

Also consumer advice Center may be able to help with contracts, paying etc. they are very helpful. Also which magazine offers free help for stuff like this if anyone subscribes.

TIGEREEN123456 · 10/10/2022 09:10

hi currently just seen this i also made an account to warn people of this terrible site. worst in history they are scammers dont sign up with them!

AleX89X · 10/10/2022 12:26

Hi everyone so I made a post about my situation with my grandfather having cancer on the intestines, so here is a quick update. I contacted a lot of charity organisations who help with depth and due to the way their terms and conditions are written they are legally allowed to take your money with no consideration whatsoever about circumstances. Right now all I was able to do is reduce the monthly payments to minimum and thous £50 a month instead of going to my grandfather are going to them. My advice is just don't bother with them at all.

CeeDee97 · 30/12/2022 19:54

First off, this learningpeople.com has put me in a £15k debt, using a finance company called Futurefinance and promised me a cyber-security training that leads to it certifications (A+.N+, S+, PenTest+, CEH) but delivered nothing, Zero but debt.
Most of the positive 5 stars reviews most likely fake and manipulative, see below

I perused the whole the place and contacted over 100 of their students and former students, most like myself are in regret, some shy to talk openly, one Project mgt student found out their scam only one month after signing on with them, then cancelled, guess what, learningpeople refused to make refund of thousands of £ till today, they are nice salesmen until they take your money, their arrogance will come out, The most arrogant of them that I contacted are Eoghan Devins and one Ryan Clark who was asking me for more money and another Laura Woolley that did nothing to solve my problems.
They use one unknown tool called percipio for comptia courses which is crap and nobody in the IT industry knows about it. Both Cyber-security and project mgt are very low quality training, I have gone through it and have spoken to others and if you are outside the UK, you have no jurisdiction to sue them.
All the so-called IT and Career Consultants have no IT certifications themselves, from my experience, let alone the admin girl that organises webinars.

This learningpeople.com took advantage of the corona-virus lockdown and job losses by pilots, engineers, air hostesses and others, generally people switching careers to rack in students and delivered very little for most of them.
Next time you speak to someone from learningpeople, just ask ‘ as someone working for IT training company wanting to train me, what IT certification do you have? You see They will begin to stutter.

This is a sales company, they bundle other company’s IT certs training between 3 to 5 of them and then throw in exam vouchers to make it appealing, then collect money from you based on delivering 5 Training, these are sales tactics and tricks, without considering the capacity of individual students, this is more of a lottery than a training, if you manage to achieve just 1 of 5 certs, they bring you out as testimony to other students during webinar.
Their first Director one Patrick Aylmer has cashed out and another guy has come in to continue the scam. Deal with them at your own peril.

zimka · 11/01/2023 14:34

Please do not signup with learning people. they are a big scam. they somehow convinced me to signup later they just shared the link of online videos which was crap. when I asked for refund they said cooling period is over. they even sent me legal notice to pay the amount

Jordsxoxo · 11/01/2023 18:40

I'm coming to realise I've made a huge mistake by signing up with them. According the below, do you think there is a case for us to cancel? www.which.co.uk/consumer-rights/advice/i-want-to-cancel-a-course-i-booked-online-what-are-my-rights-aassz5p3mdCx

AleX89X · 11/01/2023 18:51

Do NOT sign up with them , 4 days after the 10 day trial my grandfather for cancer on the intestines and all my money whent that way ... I calles them and told them ..... send them the documents from the hospital ...... and the 9nly thing I got was sorry , but we whent owes money now I'm paying 50 every month for low quality videos that I could e found myself....

AleX89X · 11/01/2023 18:56

Hi mate , I whent true that path .... and I contacted 4 5 of thous organizations ... unfortunately they can't do absolutely nothing due to the way the terms and conditions are made..... basicly after the 10 day trial period it up to them to say if they will let you go or not ....... and they are greedy goblins that do not care about your situation .... . Look up my respond to the guy asking about them.

razzbo · 11/01/2023 19:48

I briefly looked at the consumer rights act link and I think there is definitely a case for us getting our money back due to course material not being what was promised and due to being mis-sold the course in the first place (in my case anyway). But how do you even begin this?? They won't agree to a refund and will just ignore messages and quote the terms and conditions. Would need to get a lawyer. I would totally be up for having a go at some legal action for a refund if I had other people doing it too and if it was no-win-no-fee - I wouldn't know where to start though.

Seagulls4eva · 12/01/2023 07:50

They record all phone calls. Ask for a recording of the sales calls you received and see if there's anything there that can help you.

Seagulls4eva · 12/01/2023 07:51

Btw, they used to have a 14-day cooling off period. I don't know if that's changed.

TIGEREEN123456 · 12/01/2023 10:59

I’m definitely down, I am also in you’re situation and I feel like the more people we get the better our chances are. These guys are scammers and the content is not worth the price. They offer lack of support only care about money. I think also fake reviewing is illegal which they have been doing to get people to sign up

razzbo · 12/01/2023 13:06

I remember my sales call and there were definitely things he said that turned out to be untrue - like what percentage you need to get to be able to do the exam. I feel quite motivated to get into legal action now. I can't afford a lawyer but I'm sure there are ways of doing this. And there are so many people who would back us up because they too have been scammed.

Hi guys, just been reading over these comments. I've been a victim of scammers in the past for various reasons. Glad learningpeople have been exposed because it's hard enough to learn Cyber Security without people scamming you for nonsense. At the end of the day (unless they're going to pay for all your exams inc, never pay something like 5-6k, these mad numbers I've seen.) for education, there's too much good free stuff out there if you know where to look.

Not that it's a huge consultation but I know a few good free or paid for courses I thought I would let people know about so at least they can get their value in some form.

First and foremost: Springboard+ is an Irish government funded course offering full time, part time, evening degrees, certs and diplomas with Irish colleges from UCD, NCI, DBS, NUIG, etc etc im plenty of Cyber Security degrees and diplomas. I'm currently doing a Post grad for Cyber Security in NCI for a year part time and it cost me 10% of the overall course fee.

Other options are www.fetchcourses.ie look up CompTIA and do the A+, Net+ and Sec+ exams over time, again your voucher is paid for and the courses usually last from 12-26 weeks. I did ITF+ online with Baldoyle Training Centre.

Pluralsight (you've to pay for BUT) it covers a lot of great coding, security, networking and had nice learning paths and even some courses for Cert Prep.
INE. Com and CBT Nuggets are good too. (They're paid)

YouTube Videos:

Professor Messer, Network Chuck, CleverProgrammer, JasonDionTraining, Bob Tabor has great programming stuff.

For coding:
Udemy: Colt Steele, I love Colt Steele, if you're into programming! Wow. He's like having a personal academic grinds teacher come into your study and help you code, he is worth is weight in gold. Costs about €9.99 to do his course - The Web Development Bootcamp.

Also Code Institute, FreeCodeCamp, W3Schools.

For hacking
CodeRed (EC-COUNCIL), you can get 15 security courses for like $25.00 total, they look a bit scammy haha, but they're not, I signed up and have access to their courses now.

LinkedIn Learning: loads of stuff on here but I like the IT PROTV guys are great, again this one is paid but it's really good.

Please, please, please don't pay these scammers thousands, you can learn so much for free and if it's getting pricy, best to know where you money is going. Best of luck guys, sorry you got scammed. Lesson learned I guess.

Hope these tips help with your REAL IT Careers.

Jordsxoxo · 25/02/2023 22:51

I've got a call set with them to go over the recorded calls. I'll liaise and let you all know how it goes

Any advice welcome

TIGEREEN123456 · 26/02/2023 02:44

Hi, are you trying to withdraw from the course? There are a lot of people going through this. We could go to court and get this company shut down of change the rules and regulations they have. Refunds should be allowed at a certain point of time. These guys are fake review boting aswell

RS2000 · 26/02/2023 03:40

I’ve done a year course with them. Issue I had was the course was mediocre and the certification / exam was more about something else and not about the course I took. So I’m stuck with a basic qualification that has nothing to do with my course. Lol. If there is a legal action then I’m happy to share.

DO NOT TRAIN WITH LEARNING PEOPLE!!!

Nower days it’s about what you know and not always about the qualifications. You can learn plenty from other sources, and for free.
