But the worst of you here treat trans people just as you would complain about men treating women historically.

The hyperbole of ‘you are all treating some male people the same way male people treated women historically’ doesn’t work when you don’t name the group of people of the male sex who women are supposedly mistreating.

The male poster calling women witches has nothing else.

They have been here on this board a long time and have yet to convince anyone.

I mean maybe someone bought their book to fact check it. I remember posts being deleted because the board became a marketing outlet for the book in the end. I am sure someone paid for it.

No. Hyperbole is all they have. And correctly sexing in such a sentence renders the attempt at emotional manipulation meaningless.

Boiledbeetle · 26/01/2023 09:01

You know the fact is that this thread, like quite a few others, if some posters had kept away from this thread, it would likely be at the bottom of the first page of threads by now.

Unfortunately some posters on threads are their own worse enemy and prove the points much better than we could ever do about exactly what it is we are dealing with and how our speech is continually monitored and controlled, well on here at least.

As an example on this thread a poster decided to post a denial of something then a few posts later do exactly the thing they just claimed to never do, happens rather a lot with some posters. It's very illuminating as to which side of the argument may be the more truthful one.

Plus those posters words before they leave, usually in a theatrical style, help keep the threads going for at least another 100 posts or so.

I wonder why some posters, and I don't mean any on this thread obviously, derive some thrill from being humiliated on a regular basis?

Boiledbeetle · 26/01/2023 09:04

Sorry I posted before I was finished checking the post. The last paragraph should read

Helleofabore · 26/01/2023 09:11

I do recommend that any readers do watch that interview.

I think it will become very clear that male socialisation doesn’t disappear with any tweak of appearance. Either from written posts or from interviews.

And some people wonder why women object.

I remember first reading that blog post about being bumped into from behind by the male attendant in the shop where the toilet was situated. No woman would react the way White did. Yet, they delighted in it. Revelled in it.

A male person who finds it hard to accept that women will always correctly identify them in person, on line or in their writing lashes out with a derogatory and misogynist insult.

How very unsurprising.

It also highlights very starkly the fact that we are suddenly expected, with no ability to refuse or question, to implicitly trust the very group of people who have tried repeatedly over milenia to put us down, shut us up, murder us, rape us, deny us our vote, deny us jobs and property and still even now the ability to inherit some things if born before males. I could go on, but I'd still be going next week, to do the right thing for US as well as them?

Why the fuck should we? Why should we trust men who still want to do all the things, and more, that I've just listed above?

No, and you know what's coming next...

NO. NO BLOODY WAY. NO DEBATE

MassiveWordSalad · 26/01/2023 13:49

I note that there is no acknowledgement here that women actually have been mistreated by men historically, just that we would complain about it.

Really? Who here consistently pays trans less? Who's beaten them for not having dinner ready? Etc etc.

MassiveWordSalad · 26/01/2023 14:00

Apologies @SinnerBoy (and everyone else!) the first paragraph in my post is in fact a quote from our legal visitor. The second paragraph is my comment.

Abject apologies!

😁the joys of not trying to include a persons original post

SinnerBoy · 26/01/2023 14:10

That's why I mostly include the username and put the quote in italics, so that people don't mistakenly conclude that I'm some sort of blue haired fascist!

😁

TheClogLady · 26/01/2023 14:24

So it’s not the global subjugation, marginalisation & exploitation of women and girls that’s the problem, just us Mumsnetters who dare to complain about it?

Crikey.

I wonder if a feminist was to blame for those saggy bundles? I like to imagine a Bridge on the River Kwai type scenario featuring deliberate sabotage by POWs (seeing as Rob in likes to remind us that Robinself definitely wasn’t responsible in anyway shape or form)

BernardBlacksMolluscs · 26/01/2023 14:36

I do suspect that being made to feel bad is actually part of the reason some of our male visitors come here. I suspect they don’t particularly enjoy it at the time but do later

I mean, ick right? But we’re all wired differently, that’s for sure

BernardBlacksMolluscs · 26/01/2023 14:37

And I think any female attention is better than no female attention for plenty of men

Wish me luck! I have decided that it's important to use sex based pronouns when discussing why sex is important. Hopefully there will be further discussions on Saturday.

I couldn’t agree more Sarah. Best of luck.

DialSquare · 27/01/2023 08:23

No disagreement from me Sarah. We're taking back the power and there is fuck all anyone can do about it.

MassiveWordSalad · 27/01/2023 08:23

Good luck @spero. Ovaries of steel!

Helleofabore · 27/01/2023 08:33

Good luck Sarah!

mrshoho · 27/01/2023 08:44

Brave of you Sarah. We are all behind you. Your powerful words will I'm sure help many to have the courage to do the same. Best of luck for Saturday! 💐

MissPollysFitDolly · 27/01/2023 09:39

Good luck Sarah, that's something we all need to start doing. Pronouns have always been sex based and aren't owned by anyone.

Good luck. It's 2023 our speech should not be policed. Women should not be silenced. Men are not and never can be women.

Notaflippinclue · 27/01/2023 09:52

Free speech rules, the worms are turning - the world is listening

ScrollingLeaves · 27/01/2023 10:01

Good luck. What you say is so true but you are brave to take this on.
