On one level as someone who has only read the article linked in the OP and the in fact hundreds of others similar in tone, I cant be sure what is going on or went on.
Sounds really bad.
But those who are informed about women's activism in the UK and what does or doesn't pass for feminism will be all to well aware of how a group, not even online but in person, spent months bullying the women who were trying to keep the Feminist Library going as a committment to feminist history.
So we can all sit and snigger at someone being bullied, and write clever comments about her, but whilst not having myself any interest in running a lesbian bar that has been transed and captured by far our US conspiracy theories, it would be nice to think that as this is a feminist forum, or at least meant to be, that some might have some empathy for this woman being pilloried.
I cant find any article that reports this, but have seen online listings that makes it look like the venue is still open.
What a terrible indictment of the world we know live in that the leaches such as the Boston Globe that broke the story has gained financially, as no doubt has Helen Lewis, and the Guardian reporter.
For a forum that on occasions tut tuts about cults and the damage they do, I find this online sneering really sad.
Or is FWR now just a subset of reddit.
