We buy loads of this stuff as we are big peanut butter consumers in my household. Not any more though after seeing this policy. Imagine being a GC person working for this company 🙁As ever, their definition of "inclusion" centres firmly around one protected characteristic, and to hell with anyone who thinks sex matters in certain situations.

Can anyone recommend a good crunchy, oil free peanut butter with just just a sprinkling of salt sold in 1kg tubs 🙏🏻

If they only employ about 30 people.
Does that mean they outsource the making to another company?
If so, does anyone know who actually makes the peanut butter?
I get my freshly ground at a local shop.

That sounds great. I'll have to see if anywhere local to me does freshly ground.

They sound like fantastic employers who'd also have good policies on menopause and period leave, be flexible about caring responsibilities etc.

Trans/nb people being treated well is usually a sign of a female-friendly work environment.

Is it really? Can you explain how it would be a fantastic place to work for an Orthodox Jewish or Muslim woman or a woman with a history of sexual abuse if they couldn't be sure that there would be no males in the women's toilet and changing rooms, places where women are more vulnerable because of being in a state of undress? Of course businesses that make a huge fuss over their trans-inclusive policies usually don't even notice that a substantial number of women are quietly self-excluding from working there and buying their products because those women don't even register in their world view.

For what it's worth, I have removed all their products from my Favourites on Ocado so I won't be buying them. I rarely did anyway, to be honest, but this silly nonsense has annoyed me. I like businesses that just stick to making and selling their products, complying with the law on employment and doing what they can to buy the raw materials at a fair price from suppliers who also treat their employees reasonably well.

Great idea, @sashh. I will give this a go.

Biona peanut butter is delicious! No oil or salt added.

I started making my own roasted hazelnut butter after having some on porridge (and plum compote) at Ante in Edinburgh and I realized how simple it is to make nut butters if you have a decent grinder/blender.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 14/08/2026 08:11

I have a fairly basic food processor. Will see how that goes.

Jewish or Muslim women aren't more deserving of women-only spaces. Religion is based on reality even less than gender identity!

I am not any of these things. But until a couple of years ago, I had period flooding because of fibroids. Constantly running to the loo with period paraphernalia, checking for stains in my clothes, etc.
I deserve a safe space that I can do that.

BirdLandedonmyHead · 14/08/2026 08:21

They could put their money where their mluth is and install single user toilets in all their facilities on addition to single sex facilities so that everyone has a place to use where they feel most comfortable.

Also, their stance is suggesting that is unsafe for their trans women employees to be around their male colleagues.

As it happens, I agree with you, but the Equality Act has religion as one of the protected characteristics, so followers of the main religions are entitled to respect for their beliefs as far as they comply with UK law. At least 'religion' includes philosophical beliefs deemed to be worthy of respect in a democratic society, which thanks to Maya Forstater we now know includes belief that humans are sexually dimorphic and can't change sex. (What a time to be alive, when this fundamental FACT, which every sane person knows from toddlerhood, has to be classified as a belief to be respected, but I digress.)

Genderists have done their level best to pretend that being trans-inclusive is like respecting gay rights - it affects nobody else. This is obviously wrong. Leaving gay men, lesbians and bisexual people to get on with their lives and allowing them to marry in the same way as everyone else hurts nobody.

However, it's a fundamental requirement of gender ideology that the rest of us comply with their demands on language and accept a shift from single-sex spaces and services to single-gender, even though gender is self-identified and we know as a fact that a fairly large number of men claiming to identify as women are doing so as part of a sexual fetish, not because of gender dysphoria. We're also all supposed to ignore the extremely poor evidence base for the medical treatments and the devastation often caused in relationships and families when one individual adopts a trans or non-binary identity.

You do. We all do. It's extremely depressing to see just how very little women's needs count for in society.

Buy raw peanuts. Roast them in the oven. Takes about 10 minutes but make sure you give them a shake/turn occasionally. Put roasted peanuts in a blender. Blend to required consistency and salt to taste.

Could you post the policies when you find them please? I’m sure everyone will be much relieved to find out that all employees can have as much time off as they feel like and that this is absolutely not virtue signalling at all.

lcakethereforeIam · 14/08/2026 09:22

If they feel they can pick and chose the laws they follow I'd be concerned about food hygiene and cross contamination.

Id love to see their maternity policy, paternity policy, bereavement policy and sickness policy to see if they are all as generous.

Exactly this.

Are they as generous with single parents who also might need time off at short notice, what is their policy for employees with long term illness, how supportive are they of disabled employees, do they have a policy of positive employment for other recognised groups with legally protected status. You know, women, old people, racial minorities, those facing religious discrimination. Do they give Jewish and Muslim workers time off for Friday worship, religious holidays, are their canteens halal or kosher?

And then there are the furries? The autogynophiles? Those in a leather fetish thrupple?

I think it is easy to spout love words knowing that the people you are embracing with big hugs are a tiny percentage of the population and are likely only to need a few rainbow posters, gender neutral toilets and lanyards to keep them happy. But do watch out for the chancers who will bleed you dry at an employment tribunal, because they exist and won’t hesitate to bite your hand off for a payment.

And always remember, your primary purpose is making peanut butter in a competitive market, and for every customer wearing a rainbow there will be one who thinks “performative tosh” and move on.

they often highlight them on linkedin. this was a list they highlighted in one post about gender equality. i read on their impact report that they have enhanced carers leave and enhanced sick pay. They sound like they are doing a lot more than most companies to support all their staff.

What was even the point of the SC judgement anyway?
No one's following it.

All the leisure centres round by me have removed their previous 'use any space you like' policy and have reverted to single-sex spaces plus unisex option.

Excellent point. A company prepared to ignore laws it doesn't like is neither safe to work for nor safe to purchase from

As I commented previously when you posted this, I don't believe that they have publicly announced that they don't support the law in relation to any of these policies, as they have done regarding single sex spaces, have they?

I'd be tempted, if I worked there, to claim I was non binary, then claim I was dating myself so I could get time off to come to terms with my new non binary status, and time off to get a nice gender confirming surgery maybe a nose ring, then more time off as the partner of a non binary person in order to support myself.

Actually I reckon I could blag most of the year off if I had chance to read their rules properly.

Everyone can claim they are because it’s an entirely meaningless statement.
