Polycule falls apart

I expect people remember that Heather Herbert (charged in relation to social media comments he made after Ann Widdecombe's death) is in a polycule with Sophie Molly (aka Sparkles, aka Euan Weddell) and someone called Poppybear.

Molly, I believe, is a witness for Jolyon Maugham in Sarah Phillimore's libel case against Maugham.

Poppybear has been posting some very indiscreet posts on BlueSky about both Molly and Herbert, and it looks, tragically, as if the polycule has fallen apart.

According to Poppybear, Herbert's comments about Widdecombe "painted a bullseye on all of us", and led to the police coming in and "invading" all their devices (whatever that means).

Also according to Poppybear, living with Sophie Molly is "like being permanently slapped around the face by pathological laziness unless it's something that grooms her ego."

Cole met Herbert in 2020, and they met Sparkles in 2022. Says that they live within a 10 minute drive of each other, so suggests they’re not all in the same house. Not sure when Hackett turned up?

yeah in the case of Sorry Police Force vs Caroline Farrow, some junior officer was carrying the can for that, and we know that because they told CF that they couldn't progress her complaint as PC Useful was on holiday (my recollection of threads).

In my view that's simply not good enough and PC Useful's immediate superiors are fully responsible for his actions and so on all the way up to the Chief Superintendant of Sorry Police Force.

I'm still hopeful for some updates on that, since it seems like CF has been treated dreadfully by Sorry Police Force, who in this case can be described as playing the role of Useful Idiot.

I think we can all hope that our Police Forces can find better ways of spending public money than acting as bully boys on transparently flimsy and spurious pretexts. They need to do better, since we still have 'policing by consent', which obviously depends on the level of overall good will in the public towards the individual officers and wider police organisations. When they squander this hard-earned good will, they are spending a resource which is vital to upholding peace and law in the communities in which we live.

Different police forces seem to respond in widely different ways. Wings Across Scotland makes the point that LW has made hundreds of complaints to the police and the vast majority of them have gone nowhere. The Bath/Keynsham police were apparently unaware of the fact that they were responding to a complainant that just cost the Met £25k in compensation to Glinner, so they got suckered. You would think LW would have some sort of “vexatious complainant” tag across police forces by now, but limited co-ordination is not surprising. Our public institutions have some distance to perfecting information sharing.

This is a good point. What is particularly mad about the Bath police is not just that they were unaware that the complainant had a history of making vexatious complaints, but that the complaints themselves were so feeble. The whole business with the caravan pictures is just ridiculous.Why would anybody think that was worth investigating?

Absolutely hilarious. Full of nuggets like "Both Heather and Sophie were wearing cat ears, a fashion choice they bonded over" and "They enjoy meeting up to go the cinema, out for dinner, or for Dungeons and Dragons nights."

Imagine getting your yearned-for job in journalism and then finding yourself having to write that shit.

A point often overlooks is that they're not just wasting the time of their employer (paid for by the public purse), but the time and money of the members of the public who are being dragged into police offices and interviewed. Our (Jo/Joe Public) time is important - at least to us - too, and should not be demanded and frittered away except in genuine case of need.

I see that as a positive given the sex and rape by deception horror stories out there. I give credit for what I see as up front honesty and transparency and the avoidance of deception.

Not read full thread but I suspect I agree with the general consensus.

That's pretty clear, but it's the intent and actions I'm giving credit for.
There was a sex by deception case on here a good while back that was in the same how the fuck?? ease of identification window, but some poor bloke still ended up in trouble he's unlikely to be able to forget, and I doubt his friends will ever let him.
To be open and upfront deserves credit because it helps all parties avoid bad situations before they even start to happen. I'm taking each win, no matter how small as a win.
