Sexist Unions boycott Labour women's conference

Unison, Aslef, Usdaw and the Musicians Union are planning to not attend Labour Women's Conference on 26 September 2026 in Liverpool because men are not allowed.

This is breaking Labour party rules against sex discrimination against women and that the Supreme Court judgement is correct:
https://labour.org.uk/resources/supreme-court-judgment-faqs/

This could be a huge issue for Burnham and Labour. Especially as Unison, & Unite are already facing court cases over their refusal to admit women exist.

Like the recent Amnesty trainwreck this could be a self inflicted car crash for TAs in the unions. It will force Labour to choose between reality and catering to a bunch of sexists who don't like it when women get have political meetings without male supervision.

Supreme Court Judgment FAQs – The Labour Party

Supreme Court Judgment: Frequently Asked Questions On 16 April 2025, the Supreme Court clarified that references to “women” in the Equality Act 2010 refer to biological sex (meaning the sex of a person at birth), not gender. This means that certain sex...

No. But again thank you for proving my point about the obsession with trans women in particular.

Do you think male Drs examining women against their will is an example of that medical misogyny?

No. It is outrageous though and shouldn't happen. But it is part of the focus on trans women that is deranged to me. The bigger connected issue is that there simply aren't enough female doctors or all specialities to ensure same sex care can be a choice when it is required. Pretending that the issue is a trans woman not being openly trans to all her patients is disingenuous.

And do you think that literally the only issue is men using women's toilets?

No - but it hugely focused on when it is a tiny, tiny issue.

You're right , it's outrageous and no male doctor should ever continue to examine a woman against her will. The issue is not with women - the issue is with men who know they have been told no, but continue anyway. Not because there aren't enough female drs, but because they are intent on ignoring the rights of women. Outrageous is absolutely the word for men like that.

Given toilets are a tiny, tiny issue in your view - what are the larger issues? Apart from medical misogyny (from men) that is.

Who are men. Whom women deserve to have certain spaces and sports teams away from them. The point of this board which you haven’t seemed to grasp.

Even if the woman would die without medical intervention? Really? And you're trying to minimise the real issue to focus on your pet peeve. It's bizarre to me.

If a woman says no to being examined by a man, what do you think he should do?

GailBlancheViola · 27/09/2026 21:56

No - but it hugely focused on when it is a tiny, tiny issue.

Focused on by TRA's and their allies, they are apopleptic and constantly wang on about it. If it such a tiny issue why are they forever coming onto this board threatening not to compy with the Law and screaming blue murder about it being literal genocide that they are expected to use the toilet that aligns with their sex or a mixed sex alternative?

You said trans women.

Who has complained about trans men (women) in their spaces? Please link. Radicalisation is thinking one can change sex. Look inward.

That rather depends on the circumstances. In the vast majority of cases - leave and move onto the next patient. Of course if there is no female doctor available and the woman can't get treatment - who is to blame?

Is there a reason you think my beliefs shouldn't disagree with the current law?

You are entitled to your views but trying to cram men into women's services makes you a trans activist. As plain as day.

With respect - you spend your life posting threads on here and trying to police them if someone dares to post something similar so I'd suggest that you aren't capable of balanced thought on anything really. It does rather seem to have become your entire personality.

Drs can't leave a patient unattended and simply move to another one. So have a think - what would a decent male Dr do?

You can literally click up and read what you replied to. "And do you call out the much worse pejorative terms used to repeatedly describe trans people on here? Or is your concern more hypocritical in nature?" I didn't say 'trans women'. The gaslighting is bizarre.

How on earth have I tried to "cram men into women's services"? Be clear.

No you haven't. Come on now, surely you don't believe 'leave the patient unattended' is an actual answer?

Did you miss the "depends on the circumstances" of it all? You clearly have a specific situation in mind so why don't you ask that? Or explain what you think a doctor should do in a situation where a patient refuses to allow them to examine them?

Warmlight1 · 27/09/2026 22:13

Question on a different aspect of the theme of the OP:
What does unions boycotting actually look like? Someone mention not sending delegates- approximately how many people does that translate as?
I assume union members are still allowed to go just not being paid for?

Also since this seems to be a labour policy I'm not clear why it's just the women's conference which is boycotted- the women's conference isn't the entity which made the decision.

I did. You said trans women. You are maintaining you didn’t. It’s not difficult when it’s all there in black and white. This board is used to the obsfucation of language though 😉.
