Mail story: Teenage 'trans student who dressed as a dog stabs parents to death and knifes pet golden retriever'

https://www.dailymail.com/news/article-15923249/Trans-furry-dog-stabs-parents-death-golden-retriever.html

Opening paragraphs:

"A teen who attended school as a 'furry' dressed as a dog has been accused of killing his parents and stabbing their dog - then sharing macabre images of the scene with fellow students.

"The schoolboy, 15, who is reportedly transitioning from girl to boy, was arrested last week in Groningen in the Netherlands and charged with double murder, according to Dutch outlet RTL."

Horrific story, but notable because this is a girl identifying as a boy who has apparently killed her own parents. She also identified as a dog, and, if the article is to be believed, she and her friends were allowed to attend school dressed as dogs.

NB The article is all over the place with pronouns.

More notable for being a girl? Less likely to commit violent acts. I wonder did she take testosterone?
Whole thing is awful

Notable because it's a girl. It's rare for women to commit murder, and extremely rare for girls to do so. How many instances can you think of where a teenage girl has murdered her own parents?

And obviously notable because she was identifying as a furry. People on Mumsnet have been sounding the alarm about troubled teenagers identifying as furries for some time, pointing out that it's not a harmless subculture but a dangerous one.

Notable, I think, that the school was allowing children to come to school dressed as dogs - something the left has repeatedly assured us is a lie put about by right-wing outlets.

And yes, notable because she was "transitioning" to male. Of course it's relevant. The overwhelming majority of teenagers committing homicide are male. When a girl does it, you take note. There was at least one case of a school shooter in the US who was female transitioning to male.

Of course, you understand all this. You are, I would hazard, simply pretending not to understand it. It's so tedious.

I mean, genuinely, someone can read a story about a teenage girl who habitually dresses as a dog stabbing her own parents to death and thinks there's nothing notable about it? What the fuck is wrong with you? Seriously, what the fuck is wrong with you?

Agree very unusual for being a girl, does the Netherlands allow medicalisation in children? I'd imagine testosterone could cause violence.

Obviously we know nothing, she was obviously mentally unstable, could have been being abused by her parents.

Sherararara · Yesterday 12:06

So in summary, she was totally fucked up and parents and authorities were complicit.

WorkingItOutAsIGo · Yesterday 12:07

The Dutch started the whole puberty blockers thing - remember it's called the Dutch Protocol. So sadly highly likely this troubled girl was given testosterone. We've seen other cases where a girl on testosterone has committed violent acts more usually committed by males and I would imagine the testosterone has played a major role.

Flapjak · Yesterday 12:12

I wonder what mental health support they were recieving prior to this other validation of identity . We really are doing a disservice to young people if we don't start addressing the root causes of their distress and continue accepting these harmful identity narratives

testmatchspecial · Yesterday 12:13

I saw this on X, it’s very disturbing.

You really don’t care about these children do you. You’re happy to sit back and watch their bodies and minds be damaged simply because you’re not brave enough to admit that our children are being harmed by trans ideology. It’s shameful really.

IrnBruAndDietCoke · Yesterday 12:20

I mean her confused identity (not specifically the trans part but all of it as a whole bigger picture) was a walking red flag for some serious mental health difficulties that needed addressing with proper assessment and support, and I hope she was getting the care she needed because it will be very disappointing (but utterly predictable) if she just got gender affirmed and given PBs/testosterone which would have likely made everything worse due to lack of treatment for the underlying problem that was making her think she was a male dog.

Reddog1 · Yesterday 12:20

“Notable in what way” would be funny if two lives hadn’t been taken, and a girl’s life ruined. To say nothing of the injured animal and the impact of this terrible tale on the wider family and friends who loved them.

When will this nonsense end?

IrnBruAndDietCoke · Yesterday 12:23

Also if PBs are involved will this make the government rethink the PB trial or do we need UK incidents before the madness will be stopped?

The daily mail love doing stuff like this, reporting stories where minorities have done horrific things and using it to imply that the minority is dangerous and must be shunned. I bet if it was a cis teen who wasn’t a furry they wouldn’t have bothered reporting it.

Yes awful to see the response of who cares.

How horrendous a crime.

cheezncrackers · Yesterday 12:33

I wonder did she take testosterone?

It's a known fact that testosterone is linked to aggression, so if this girl was taking testosterone then she would presumably be more likely to act on violent impulses.

In addition, as I understand it, a lot of people who claim to be trans have mental health issues, personality disorders, SEN, are victims of sexual abuse, or something else that makes them feel that they don't fit in with society. The two things together are bound to equal a raised risk of violence.

Yeah, the Mail famously ignores murders committed by white males. 🙄

TheKeatingFive · Yesterday 12:40

This child was obviously immensely troubled, whether testosterone was a compounding factor or not.

Presenting as a 'furry' and 'transitioning' were clearly manifestions of extreme mental health issues. People need to wake up.

Move along. Nothing to see here.

Only, it isn't actually normal for teenage girls to murder her parents. It is sensible to ask if this teen was failed. Maybe there were opportunities to help her that were missed? Maybe her trans identity contributed to this, for example, perhaps she wasn't given the help she needed due to 'diagnostic overshadowing'? Was she given testosterone? Was this a contributing factor?

Of course they would. It's extremely unusual for a teenager of either sex to kill their parents, and exceptionally rare for a natal female to commit a crime like this. This case would always have far more chance of being reported than the more common cases of one teenager knifing another after an argument or gang issue.

Dreadful case. I was struck by the comment about NL law at the end of the Mail piece:

In the Netherlands, the maximum prison sentence for those aged 12-15 is just one year. For offenders between 16 and 17 it is two years.
In exceptional cases, a judge can mandate that juveniles be placed in an institutional centre. This treatment is not capped at two years and can be extended indefinitely if the offender is considered an ongoing danger to society.
If a crime is considered especially severe, the judge could try them under adult criminal law, which carries a maximum sentence of life.

Surely this would fall into the especially severe category.

Ihateboris · Yesterday 12:45

Absolutely horrific. Children should not be allowed to transition. End of.

A girl isn’t a minority. Nor a boy for other crimes.

It is however rare for a teen girl to commit an awful crime like this.

Was abused if they were allowing her to dress up as a dog rather than stopping her? Unless the Netherlands is another of those places where sensible parents are told they must not interrere because 'trans' and therefore 'sacred'. This is a cult.
