This is the activists' validation reel.

Worth watching to the end, if you can bear it, for their rallying cry of DIY hormones and euphoria. Also, we are introduced to the concept of intersexism.

Just to say I’ve left a number of comments and they’ve been deleted. They are deleting and hiding any thing not positive.

Poor little free speech haters. Only untruths are true.

There were barely more attendees than protesters - and I hope you're aware of the funding behind this guy. He's a protege of people with incredibly regressive views about women and gay people.

Those (very polite!) protesters did women everywhere a favour. Misogynists should not be platformed in our universities.

Oh dear - a misogynist who will deny women the right to exist as a sex class is saying Foran is a misogynist. Always accusing other people of what they are guilty off.

Sorry your child has mental health challenges and you are a parent will enable them to harm their healthy body. You have issues much closer to home that demand your attention.

I agree Universities are misogynistic. They only let women in through the last decade - Cambridge was founded in 12— and nearly 800 years later women were excluded from some colleges. And as soon as we had women’s only colleges they started jumping through hoops to allow men with gender identities into those colleges. Of course women are hated and oppressed as a a sex class - but by many men, some women and all trans ideologues.

Still No Debate, then.

The fact that they can't or won't argue for it tells us all we need to know about gender ideology.

At least at Cambridge they tried.

It no debate and make it look like there is only support.

Quite the fraud indeed but heck if you’re happy to delude yourself that you can change sex - then your relationship with the truth is very tenuous on any given day.

Fair play to Foran for not enabling their nonsense as endorsed by the Proctors.

FFS. MF has more than 10,000 subscribers to his Substack page. He’s making more than £100k per month just from that.

Frankly you could do the same if you had anything original and correct to say.

Lol, just to head off anyone wondering why MF isn't funding the gender critical cause more, something has gone wrong with the arithmetic there, even if that number (where are you getting it btw?) is the number of paid subscribers, which seems unlikely.

It says so directly on his Substack page, but fair point, those aren't paid subscriptions. Which is a pity - I was pleased that someone with expertise was doing well for themselves, instead of just people with strong opinions.

@TransParentlyAnnoyed There were barely more attendees than protesters

In which case it's a spectacular own goal for those who don't want MF's work to be widely known. Look at all the press and attention their action has generated. The Streisand effect in action.

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · Yesterday 14:52

Two protesters, and a lot more than two people shouting at them to shut up and clear off.

My apologies to Dr Foran on his nationality! Here's his Keble College Biography:

'Michael Foran is Associate Professor of Law and a Fellow of Keble College where he teaches public law and jurisprudence. He is an expert in equality and anti-discrimination law whose work has been cited by the Supreme Court of the United Kingdom. He does regular media appearances to explain the law for a public audience and has provided consultation to charities, civil servants, public bodies, and the United Nations.

'Michael writes extensively on all aspects of Public and Equality Law. His work concentrates on constitutional law and philosophy of law, with a particular emphasis on equality before the law, discrimination, and the rule of law. His research also focuses on anti-positivist jurisprudence, including questions relating to the relationship between fundamental rights and the rule of law.

'Michael holds an LLB from Trinity College, Dublin where he was awarded the Julian Prize, an MSc in Law and Anthropology from the London School of Economics and Political Science, and a PhD in Law from the University of Cambridge where his doctoral thesis was awarded the Yorke Prize.'

Mmmnotsure · Yesterday 15:20

The Yorke Prize is prestigious. It was endowed in 1873 and is awarded annually by Cambridge University Faculty of Law for a doctoral thesis of “exceptional quality… which make[s] a substantial contribution to a field of legal knowledge”.

Michael Foran is only in his early 30s.

Take a look at his background, we were told a few posts earlier. It works the same as "educate yourself'.

MF looks pretty brilliant from here.

Statement from the Chancellor, William Hague

https://x.com/i/status/2064294141589180763

Ah the politician - of course these debates should go ahead....

But he does slip up when talking about how many events happen with respectful disagreement. Her refers to "we still have these unfortunate events" from time to time or similar... and to me it seemed clear he was referring to the TRAs and the methods they had employed/calls for cancellation. He explicity refers to the Act of parliament regarding freedom of speech.

Hague is not daft. He knows that he has a couple of dangers to dodge:
a) letting Foran cancel the lectures and not proactively getting them back on and sanctioned by the uni will leave them open to being the next humiliating case on the ET circuit
b) the uni regulator is keen to show its regulatory teeth after Sussex slipped off the hook

If I were those 2 TRAs (plus their Sesame Street bin mate) I would be getting worried right now - ETA - that I would be made into an example - when I apparently thought I was on the RSOH and untouchable. oh dear

It has suddenly occurred to me what a funny old word "sanctioned" is: in one sense, it means officially approved, in another it means deplored or even forbidden.

Not even slightly relevant to anything much, just that it struck me all of a sudden.
