Shame on Oxford Uni to allow bullying. Michael is a member of staff so how can they let this stand? The students should be sanctioned.

The reputation world wide will suffer. I no longer have Uni aged children but I would be discouraging them to apply to Oxford.

NotNatacha · 07/06/2026 20:36

The first two lectures are available online.

I got there by going to Substack and then ‘Knowing Ius’
I can’t link that route, but I imagine there are other ways to get there.

Hedgehogforshort · 07/06/2026 20:37

I think it is one thing to protest outside exercising freedom of speech (that is none intimidating)

Quite another to invade a lecture room and grandstand.

the university must suspend these morons.

and i lay a bet none of them are law students

Mmmnotsure · 07/06/2026 20:40

Time for this again:

Michael Foran has had to cancel the remaining lectures on Sex, GI and the law.....

Surely these students should at a minimum face disciplinary actions? They should not be able to continue with their degrees if they are behaving in this way towards Faculty members and other students.

Absolutely this. It's a disgrace.

Let's remind ourselves that this is the TQ+ shutting down a gay man.

I also feel sad for Micheal he said when asked on lus that he had not had any bother. He spoke to soon.

I think we should not sit on our arses about this, as has happened with Kathleen in the past.

asking academics here who should be written to about this?

Powerful and direct. Long overdue that these young bigots got some consequences for their bullying intolerance.

BridgetPhillipsonIsACowardlyJobsworth · 07/06/2026 21:58

There will be something in the Student Handbook and Charter about not bullying, which all students agree to when they start their courses, and it's not "opt-in" and it doesn't matter if they haven't read it.

Foran will also have protection from bullying, as an employee, especially if it is preventing him from working. This will be in the employer's policies by which all employees are expected to be governed. And he will be well aware of this.

So, he will have some kind of recourse.

The VC and Council will be made aware of the issues (or they will find out, now that it is in the media). The University should respond.

At least that's how it would work in a "normal" university, in a country that believes in reality and the rule of law.

They have to now, surely? Let's see what they have to say for themselves.

This is just so abhorrent

The post at bottom right is a specific threat to target attendees. People who haven't even said what they think, just dared to turn up and listen.

Hedgehogforshort · 07/06/2026 22:59

I have e mailed the VC

I have just seen this was Oxford.

It is ridiculous that they can’t listen to someone else talk, and argue against them using their own minds.

And they said they’d go after any students who attend. Bullies.

It shows how extraordinarily brave those girls in Cambridge are to have their society for women.

The one bright spot in all this is that they've really picked on the wrong man. There are very few better able to deploy the law and those policies to maximum effect, if he so chooses.

Yes this, given the Supreme Court acknowledged his submissions as very helpful, one would think he is untouchable in legal academia. Unlike Kathrine and many others sadly.

VoteForCurlews · 07/06/2026 23:18

Such a shame. I've really appreciated the time and effort Dr Foran has taken to make authoritative legal commentary widely available - and that he's made some of the really key posts on his blog free. By helping us all be much better informed about what the law actually says he's done a great service to everyone who feels they have a stake in how sex and gender identity operate in law.

moto748e · 07/06/2026 23:32

Truth-tellers: sadly, they seem to be increasingly rare, don't they? And this is how they are treated. But surely, as noted by PP, they've picked on the wrong guy?

NotNatacha · 08/06/2026 01:54

The blog which @VoteForCurlews mentions is here.

dinodart · 08/06/2026 06:21

lmao, omg, these people are so embarrassing tho (i watched the vids julie bindel posted). xD looking at how pathetic they are I almost feel bad for them... emphasis on almost, they are bullies and should be punished by the school.

Wonderfulequipment · 08/06/2026 06:51

I’m a post grad at Oxford - I hadn’t heard these lectures were on as I would have gone along to hear more about what he had to say.
iI’m embarrassed for my university.
