Well the adage goes ‘we get the politicians we deserve’ so what does this clusterfuck say about us? 😩

There's also "if voting made any difference they wouldn't let do it." 🤔

Bertiebiscuit · 09/05/2026 21:12

Starmer cannot bear women who won't play handmaids to the lefty bros, he thinks women should always think, say and do what men want them to. He's in charge of the Labour Party boys club, women are mostly in his way unless they are completely compliant. Which is why i love Kemi Badenoch so much, say what you like about her but she stands up to his nonsense and calls him out every time. She brings out the worst in him, it's a joy to listen to.

When the world goes mad Jkrowling is as always the calm voice of sanity that reminds me that there are still powerful female voices who call out men's nonsense every time. More power to her elbow. She is our queen. 👸🏻❤️

I don't know the answers to Labour's challenges, but I'm pretty sure there is no question to which "send for Gordon and Harriet" is the answer.

Starmer is just trolling the electorate now. Electorate says in no uncertain terms - this isn't working for us, we are not happy and Starmer's grand plan is.....give Gordon Brown and Harriet Harman jobs. FGS.

Here I go again, saying 'In fairness to...' when I know it's unpopular, and may be misinterpreted as me supporting the people in question, which I don't:

'In fairness' to HH, she was never a PIE [Paedophile Information Exchange] supporter.
She was an official of the NCCL in the 1970s, and during that time the PIE became some kind of 'affiliate member'.

It's beyond question that they should never have been tolerated in any way by the NCCL at all, and Harman should have acted to get rid of them, when they somehow managed to get rubber-stamped as affiliates.

But I do not believe she was ever a 'PIE supporter'.

I think the facts are damning enough: She will always have to carry the guilt of not having prevented PIE from become an affiliate, or getting rid of them ASAP when she realised they were.

It was the 1970s, and she has apologised deeply, but I think it still casts doubt on her suitability in the specific area of women and children's rights, and along with being TWAW, makes her unsuitable for being an advisor on women and girls.

It was the 1970s, and she has apologised deeply

She most certainly has not "apologised deeply"

Also, child sexual abuse was still that in the 1970s.

Can't believe what I read here some days. Child sexual abuse was OK because it was the 1970s and different times man.

These people never apologize for anything.
More like, they're sorry that the ordinary citizen doesn't understand their position.
And that they're sorry their minority special interest groups don't get the acceptance they feel they deserve.
That's as far as any "apology" might go.

MyAutumnCrow · 10/05/2026 00:34

Harriet Harman is the answer to the question, ‘Keir, can you actually prove to us please just how much of a fucking fruitloop you have become?’

Meadowfinch · 10/05/2026 01:13

DialSquare · 09/05/2026 11:07

Well he obviously doesn’t think he’s pissed everyone off enough yet so is having another last ditch attempt.

This.

What in God's name was KS thinking? That HH is old-guard Labour and it will make him look like he's taking advice.

Does he not check anything before he acts? Or does he think everyone else is stupid, compared to his planet-sized brain?

PM was an habitual liar from all the way back in the 90s and any fool would have known he was a terrible choice for a job that required discretion.

HH is equally no protector of women. KS is beyond helping. He has no judgement at all.

IwantToRetire · 10/05/2026 01:47

Sorry not to have read all posts on thread but even more than the Mandelson stupidity this has left me even more stunned.

What is wrong with him - let alone his support team.

Or is it really that women's reality just does not compute with them.

Added to which, what does it say to those already appointed to various positions re women, about how Starmer thinks of them.

How could he have made such a political blunder?

How could he so perfectly have illustrated his complate lack of awarenes about women's rights.

IwantToRetire · 10/05/2026 01:50

Probalby already posted, so sorry if repeats:

@MarieDeGournay

"It was the 1970s, and she has apologised deeply,"

The problem was that Harriet Harman refused pointblank to apologise for NCCL's support of child sex abusers (PIE) and her role then. Unlike others, such as Patricia Hewitt and Mind the mental health charity, who gave unequivocal apologies, Harman refused. There were debates about this on The Guardian site at that time and she was frequently recognised as her own worst enemy. It really would have cost her nothing to apologise.

Further, there were many protests against PIE in the 1970s by ordinary British people who never found sex crimes against children by adults acceptable. Harman and others would have been aware of this.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 10/05/2026 08:03

I wonder if he’s deliberately trying to distract from something he thinks is bigger. He and all his advisors can’t really be this stupid and out of touch, surely?

1984Now · 10/05/2026 08:24

If he's forced to back down on Harman, how many U-turns will that be in total since he came to power?

Ereshkigalangcleg · 10/05/2026 08:30

When did Harman apologise, deeply or otherwise, @MarieDeGournay- not denying it, I don’t know. I’d like to know the exact wording if anyone has a link.

Seeing as we are now allowed to use cultural references (i.e. the Bananarama Defence), I propose that Starmer's course of action be nominated the Thelma and Louise Approach.

Say what you like about him, he is going full throttle towards that cliff!
(probably the first time that vague grey entity has ever gone full throttle on anything, mind).

Ah, but he's claiming he's in for a decade.
If he's right, that Thelma And Louise car is gonna be mid-air for a LONG time.

I remember it being the school cleaners and caretakers of the venues objecting, and the bien pensants being rather taken aback.

Can we ask the old lady of whom Gordon said "Who put me together with that bigoted woman?" what she thinks about this appointment?

Very good point. Has anyone told Keir Starmer that biological women (the orginal and best) have the vote? Who's he going to fire when he finds out?

Fascinating, I really thought it wasn't common knowledge, just a topic amongst the chattering classes.

SionnachRuadh · 10/05/2026 10:11

I suspect there were a lot of chattering class types in the 1970s who turned a blind eye to PIE because among the people kicking up a stink about them were Mary Whitehouse and the National Front.

That reminds me of a more recent scandal.

I guess it wasn't, except that the proles servicing the events took exception.
