Why would he do this? Reform will love this.

OpheliaWitchoftheWoods · 09/05/2026 16:55

Send for Gordon and Harriet....Harman and Brown are both 75 years old. (Most of that remaining cabinet from the 90s are in their 80s now, these two are relative youngsters.)

Is there seriously no one left in the Labour party with a clue on running the country who does not have to be pulled out of retirement? Was that the last generation with any clue or skill?

Love this!

JFC - here she is in 2024 saying:

  • Gender identity is real and should be respected.
  • Trans women are women.
  • Society and institutions should treat them as such.
  • She frames this as a matter of fairness, compassion, and equality.

Here's Harriet Harman, the UK government's new adviser on women and girls, speaking at length in 2024 about why she believes some men are women

Burnham's pretty captured, isn't he?

The prime minister is planning an attempt to reset his premiership next week by delivering a major speech and unveiling a new programme of legislation.

Urgh.

Fuck OFF with the legislation. Hyperactive halfbaked legislation doesn't look like 'something's happening' and it's pointless creating a whole lot of new law when this government doesn't believe in following or respecting law anyway.

Just make what's in place work properly and discover some bloody ethics and critical thinking, for fucks sake.

He was always going to unveil a programme of legislation however the election turned out.

Bad election - legislation can fix this

Good election - let's celebrate with legislation.

Nothing change election - let's have some more legislation anyway.

We as a nation are morally bankrupt.

Our politicians are awful.

Scotiasdarling · 09/05/2026 17:51

Well at least this stupid appointment seems to have done some good. Catherine West, who used to work as a social worker with survivors of child sexual abuse, has said that if no one else has challenged Starmer by Monday she'll do it herself.
She has no interest in being leader, she just hopes to spur others to action. More power to her elbow! (And if you have a Labour m.p try to get them to support her)

Dollymylove · 09/05/2026 18:12

Theeyeballsinthesky · 09/05/2026 10:55

I mean he's not a stupid man - is he really this out of touch?? It's not just her TWAW why can't you just be kind stuff but it's her association with PIE. It is of course being brought up immediately and after the issue with grooming gangs, does he really think ppl won't jump all over that?

Christ there are lots of women he could have chosen instead, why this one??

He must be a stupid man even engaging with someone like HH. The stench of paedophilia support hangs on her even today.
So what does Starmer do? Brings her on board for the protection of women and girls?
You really couldn't make this up!!

SionnachRuadh · 09/05/2026 18:15

Maybe they thought the PIE story is so well known that it's pretty much detoxified.

You know, like Peter Mandelson's scandals.

This pic is doing the rounds (might need to be approved by MNHQ). I almost feel sorry for Rachel as the glaringly obvious third wheel now. She is toast as well.

It's looks like when a mummy's boy brings his mum into the marital home and the wife is just pushed to one side and she knows she's never going to come back from it.

Only Starmer would look at those local election results and think this photo op is what people wanted to see.

Burnham's pretty captured, isn't he?

At this stage I presume the whole cabinet is, apart from Wes. If he could pull off a coup and getting leader that works be brilliant, but I think realistically Burnham is probably the least worst option in the short term to regain Reform areas.

It really is deeply depressing looking at the quality of leading politicians these days. I resent them deeply for making me look favourably on Thatcher and her cabinet. I may have loathed everything she stood for, but I couldn’t deny she had clear principles and stuck to them. And was competent at her job and achieving her aims.

BridgetPhillipsonIsACowardlyJobsworth · 09/05/2026 19:18

Looks like the meltdown has already started, with threats of leadership challenge. I'm wondering if Starmer, Brown, and Harman will even be around after next week!

womendeserveequalhumanrights · 09/05/2026 19:53

So he hasn't done anything about the long awaited, long shoved aside grooming gangs enquiry and has survivors talking about how badly treated they were by govt officials, appointed Epstein chum Mandleson, and now PIE apologist Harman. The govt is actively working to help remove sex based safeguarding and not following the law or holding to account other institutions which are removing safeguarding and breaking the law.

How much evidence is needed that this man doesn't care about women or child safety or safeguarding? And that's best case scenario. The worst case interpretation is that all this is deliberate. Deliberately reducing safety for women and children especially in the lower middle and working classes.

And the announcement given the PIE connection? Sorry, but the evidence is he doesn't care about safeguarding children at all.

Good for her. Sounds as if she'd be a much better leader. At least she has a moral compass!

Interesting- I don’t think she had Biggus Tittus in mind during this interview… or Dr Upton… I’d like to see her answer that question again now so much more information about tha harms has come to light…

Didn't she also meet with the backbenchers every week?
I think Rosie Duffield said Plankman never tallks to them.

I also think one can disagree fundamentally with what someone does but appreciate the way it is done, especially in the light of current quite staggering incompetence. Unless we are being trolled and the destruction of the labour party is the aim, in which case they are doing very well indeed.

MassiveWordSalad · 09/05/2026 20:21

Well the adage goes ‘we get the politicians we deserve’ so what does this clusterfuck say about us? 😩

Violetparis · 09/05/2026 20:47

FGS her links to PIE are going to be all over social media and rightly so. Keir Starmer and his advisors are useless.
