'Police have been called in after a complaint was made by a woman at HMP Greenock against Stewart, a trans-identifying male being housed in the women’s wing at Greenock jail. The Daily Record can reveal Stewart has been accused of attacking the woman in the hairdressing salon of the women’s wing where the lifer worked.'
...
'"This is a person who claimed to be a woman only after they were convicted of murder. It has been repeated on many occasions that women haven’t felt safe.
“Women have been forced to share shower blocks with this person, knowing they have full male physiology.'
...
'It is believed Stewart is one of only two trans prisoners who are legally classed as male to be left in the female estate'

Bloody hell, Cher! I've archived that. Fiver it'll change substantially.

'Alexandra Stewart, previously known as Alan Baker, allegedly attacked the woman at HMP Greenock.
Stewart - a biological male who identifies as a woman – was jailed for the murder of John Weir in 2013 and has been held in a women's unit in the prison since 2016.
Police Scotland said a report would be submitted to the procurator fiscal over the incident.
Stewart – thought to be one of two trans women prisoners held in Scotland's female prison estate - was jailed for life after murdering Weir, 36, by stabbing him 16 times at his home in Bonhill, West Dunbartonshire.'

This is what happens when you place satisfying the demands of trans identified males for validation above the right of women to be safeguarded from rape and abuse by men

If you support trans identified males being held in women's prisons then you support this and should own that

ItsCoolForCats · 24/04/2026 15:28

Does anyone know if this will have any bearing on the judicial review?

This!
This whole ideology escalates because nobody is ever held to account for their decisions - no matter how dangerous they are to women. Just look at the situation in the Brighton school where a parent is having to go to the court because the management are determined that teenage girls MUST undress in front of teenage boys in changing rooms.

They'll never be held to account - just as politicians, civil servants and NHS staff can continue to enable indecent exposure, voyeurism and sexual assault from the comfort of their desks.

Yes. The SNP government and the Greens bear full responsibility for placing a violent man in a women's prison, refusing to acknowledge the Supreme Court's judgement, and fighting yet another court battle to insist that Alex Stewart retains his right to terrorise, abuse, and attack women who are jailed and cannot escape. I hope they never, ever forget what they've done. I'd like to ask Gillian Mackay of the Greens how she justifies this.

It's hard to express my anger and disgust with these appalling politicians.

I hope that poor woman gets an absolute fortune in compensation, not that it will ever undo the harm to her. It is wicked. The prison estate and the government holds total responsibility for these women, they have had their freedom and their capacity to choose their company or even to be able to run away taken from them. Politicians busy posturing and riding their hobby horses insisted on putting her in this situation to benefit this man, sacrificing her to his use with their eyes wide open that this was a risk, and I'm sure he's had a lovely time using her.

All the wailing about these men may not be safe in the male estate..... but women, yeah mate, embrace the special feelz and go and use them for what they exist for, enjoy yourself. They're only women, no one will care.

This was not state sanctioned sanctioned; it was state enabled and enforced assault. She had no options, she couldn't choose to go away or use a different service, she couldn't get away from him.

ArtShow · 24/04/2026 16:56

Still can't call him a trans woman

Mochudubh · 24/04/2026 18:46

Apologies, I didn't realise this thread was here and have posted on a later one.

In the unlikely event that the SNP come calling (I'm on a list as a former SNP voter) my first question will be why the SNP govt are still housing men like this in women's prisons.

Pasta4Dinner · 24/04/2026 18:50

JK is offering to fund the woman to sue those responsible. Except they won’t pay it’ll be whatever organisation they work for, individuals need to be held accountable.

singthing · 24/04/2026 18:57

WTF is it with men called Alan Baker?

This one and that bereted fool both have the same name!

They do. There needs to be named heads rolling as there would be in a publicly known serious case review. But of course there won't be.

Wtf are the insurers on?

GenderlessVoid · 24/04/2026 21:18

That poor woman. It's state facilitated sexual assault. All the women there - prisoners and guards - deserve much better. I can't comprehend how Scotland places so little value on women's safety. Can you imagine the stress of being forced to live with someone like that?.

From the Daily Record:
“The presence of Alex Stewart has been a sickener for most women in the prison for years.

"This is a person who claimed to be a woman only after they were convicted of murder. It has been repeated on many occasions that women haven’t felt safe.
“Women have been forced to share shower blocks with this person, knowing they have full male physiology. He should never have been here – no trans prisoners should be with women.”

ArabellaScott · 25/04/2026 07:00

The Scotgov were hoodwinked into an absurd position, but had a perfect opportunity to lay the matter to rest post the SC judgement, move the remaining males out of the woman's prison and into the wing at Edinburgh where all the other 'trans' males are housed.

Instead, Swinney appears to have decided he liked the look of the Isla Bryson debacle, and fancied repeating it in the run up to the election.

Hell mend the SNP.

The Scottish government hates women, doesn’t it.

I'd like to ask Gillian Mackay of the Greens how she justifies this. Never in a million years would she own or even admit this. All you’d hear is obfuscation.

At this stage I’m wondering what else they are using the negative media attention to distract from.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 25/04/2026 09:07

Why is Polanski mouthing off in Scotland, don’t they already have a terrible Green Party of their own?

DuchessOfStuffit · 25/04/2026 09:13

I heard this at the lunch bulletten on jeremy vine. Then couldnt find anything more on bbc web etc.

I am not shocked, I am saddened to say. That poor woman. Vulnerable and in prison and sexually assualted by a MAN in a womans only prison. I am disgusted. To hell with the lot of them who deny the supreme court ruling this is on their heads

OpheliaWitchoftheWoods · 25/04/2026 09:31

They would have sworn too right up to the day before it happened that he was absolutely no threat to any woman there, and it had all been carefully risk assessed.

It's not just criminally negligent and a colossal failure of duty of care, it's actually evil. You do not lock criminal men up with women who cannot escape them, particularly men with boundary issues and some major issues about women by definition, and then hope the women survive your little identity politics games. These people shouldn't be running a cake stand, never mind anything involving public responsibility.

thirdfiddle · 25/04/2026 09:38

Horrific I just hope it was not a serious assault on the scale of such things. Not that any sexual assault isn't to be taken seriously but there are degrees. Must have been terrifying for the women locked up with him regardless of whether he did anything at all.

And seriously, shower blocks? Are the prison authorities not guilty of some kind of sexual harassment offence just by forcing women to share a shower block with a man?

Wearenotborg · 25/04/2026 09:43

Ooh wonder if she could get Naomi C or Ben C to represent.
