Meanwhile, Zack Polanski, Green Party leader in England and Wales, has argued transgender inmates born as men should be allowed to be held in women's prisons.

Speaking on a visit to Glasgow on the campaign ahead of Scottish Parliament elections in May, he suggested the focus should be shifted from 'very niche cases.

Mr Polanski said the attention should instead be on simply assessing inmates on a case-by-case basis.

Niche?! There are, as far as I can tell, two males in Scotland's only female prison. The rest have presumably been deemed unsuitable for women's prison and are housed on Saughton wing of HMP Edinburgh, where vulnerable prisoners are housed.

Of the two males.who are in women's prison, this one has been charged with sexual assault. The other is also a violent male.

One sexual assault is just too 'niche' for Zack.

How fucking many rapes does he need to hear about before he concedes there's an issue?

In a prison context, 'vulnerable' often means men who are at risk from other prisoners, like sex offenders. Because general prisoners don't like sex offenders.

Convicted criminals appear to have stronger views about sex abuse than the Scottish government.

Ive written to my MP about this cause so many times. Pre and post SC rulling. This is yet another example of risks we highlighted being ignored and lo and behold. A woman has been sexually assaulted by a man in a womans only prison. A man who has been having sexual relationships IN that prison with a fellow inmate. Its ridiculous. This NEEDS to be reviewed!!! And some of them want to assault women in peace. And apparently some men really want everyone to be ok with that as a possibility for the women they are locking up with them. It is not ok or normal to think like this about other human beings, or to see female ones in this subhuman way.

And we need less compassion, not more. We do not need any more sentiment or wittering or fantasy or anything else. What we need is a lot more bloody common sense, a sense of responsibility, pattern recognition and basic critical thinking.

I think there's room for the Zack Polanskis of the world to have a little compassion for women.

She does, that's what she speaks out for every time. Just for women. Who Polanski doesn't even see relevant to the situation. This is not the first assault, the fact that this has been moved to charges says it was a bloody awful one as women prisoners have explained how hard it is to be allowed to report any harassment or assault from these men, everything is discouraged and hidden, the police and CPS would rather look the other way unless they have absolutely no other choice, so only a very serious one could have made it to the point of being reported never mind charged.

The body count of women harmed by these men keeps rising. There is a list of names. The 'careful risk assessment' did fuck all to prevent this. And those women have been rendered utterly dependent on political wankers with more opinions than brain cells. It is wicked.

It's not just the batty leader; Ellie Chowns is in favour of allowing men into women's prisons too. She is also in favour of the puberty blocker trial and self-ID and against digital ID registering biological sex. She projects an 'all about the environment' image in this constituency, with its large rural, farming community, but she has drunk the kool-aid.

Well the trouble with spouting the Green garbage is that it makes you sound thick, whether you are or not, so it's hard to tell. I think she is incredibly ambitious and is willing to throw anyone, including the entire female population, under the bus to advance the career of Ellie Chowns.

Of course she claims she is 'a proud feminist and women's rights campaigner'. It's just that she campaigns for the male sort of women.🙄

I mostly post about why I can't use mixed sex toilets because I think it helps ploppers (and, really, the lurkers who are reading their posts) understand why so many women need single sex spaces. But mixed sex prisons are the part of the issue that most incenses me. These women are locked up and can't escape or defend themselves. They depend on the state for protection.

It's evil to lock women up with men, especially violent men, and especially women who have a history of trauma, as many prisoners do. In the context of war, the Geneva Convention prohibits locking men up with women (unless it's a family situation). The world recognizes that it is unsafe and essentially torture for many women. Yet Scotland (and some other supposedly civilized governments) think they know better. Them claiming it is kind is unbelievable gaslighting. I have no words for how maddening it all is. Thank you for regularly posting about this issue. I often have no words for my anger so I'm glad you share yours.
