Welcome to the Bluestocking women's pub. Men are directed to the Staunch Ally just down the road. Otherwise all are welcome. Pull up a chair, give your order to the Wait Gerbil or the Gerbil behind the bar.

Don't forget to name change if you wish to.

It's amazing how the Bluestocking Gerbil Underground can be at an airport in America while simultaneously at a zoo in Suffolk.

Is there nothing these gerbils can't do?

It's the Bluestocking reality field at work.

It's the Bluestocking reality field at work.

That is true. And impressive that it works outside the pub itself.

Britinme · 28/03/2026 13:03

I think capybaras like rivers don’t they? We have lots of lovely rivers! <corrals elderly confused cats just in case>.

That is true. And impressive that it works outside the pub itself.

It travels with the gerbils. That's why Gosie is able to live her best life roaming aimlessly through gerbil France.

I wonder what she is up to today.

MyrtleLion · 28/03/2026 13:23

Gosie's itinerary for today (loosely observed):

  • Morning: arrives late to the studio with coffee and no apology
  • announces she’s “working more intuitively now”
  • ignores the brief entirely
  • Midday: long, unstructured lunch
  • bread, something local, definitely wine
  • contributes one sharp comment about form, then disengages
  • Afternoon: produces something unexpectedly good
  • refuses to explain it
  • names it something minimal and slightly annoying
  • Early evening: wanders
  • no destination, no urgency
  • buys something unnecessary but correct
  • Night: will absolutely say “just one” and mean none of it

Slightly less blurry I hope.

I've screenshotted them this time, so I'm hopeful.

Well that's really annoying. 😠

EdithStourton · 28/03/2026 13:31

When Gosie says 'Just one...' she means one cask.

EdithStourton · 28/03/2026 13:39

And they posted.
I find loading images can be a real pita.

MyrtleLion · 28/03/2026 13:40

It's just a shame they are all so blurry.

What is the escape-team gerbil doing here? Sucking her thumb - nothing wrong with that, especially if she is nervous - or signalling something?

I could see the images well enough. I love Gosie. Am living vicariously through her.

How is her name pronounced? I'm reading it as Go-see.

OP posts:
Britinme · 28/03/2026 14:21

That’s how I read it too.

WearyAuldWumman · 28/03/2026 14:26

I thought Goh-see but I guess that Go-see makes more sense if you think of Rosie.

MarieDeGournay · 28/03/2026 14:33

MyrtleLion · 28/03/2026 13:40

It's just a shame they are all so blurry.

I don't see them as 'blurry', I see them as being inspired by Impressionism or even Pointillisme - so more in Seurat than in Ingres
[I wish I could claim that, it was actually Flann O'Brien/Myles na gCopaleen who said it first]

I'm definitely borrowing Gosie's “working more intuitively now”, very useful😄

lcakethereforeIam · 28/03/2026 15:01

I'm thinking perhaps as she is currently submerged in French culture she may see herself as a Joh-see. I bet that's how the locals pronounce it.

It's meant to be Josie. But her parents couldn't spell.

EdithStourton · 28/03/2026 15:20

Like Gennifer, who is now doing Gillian's admin to let her 'focus on providing a more targeted and tailored fitness regimen to our clients going forward.'

Hard g before a,o,u, surely? Or does that only work for a c? It's been 50 years since I learned it, so I may be a bit rusty.

Gosie's life does look idyllic. My dreams of living in a French castle are only thwarted by my repeated failure to win the EuroMillions, otherwise I'd be imitating Gosie right now.

Cake, my lovely, your description of a porter pushing you to a theatre had me picturing you in a wheelchair going to a dramatic performance, & it was only when you mentioned dressing & undressing that I stopped & thought, 'Wait just a minute...' & re-read it & it all made sense. 😂Hope you're recovering well.

ErrolTheDragon · 28/03/2026 15:24

By “submerged in French culture”, do you mean ‘happily swimming in a cask of vin rouge’?

EdithStourton · 28/03/2026 15:27

Margaux, please, Errol.
Gosie has class.

Living the dream.

lcakethereforeIam · 28/03/2026 15:52

It's probably the wrong time of year to stomp grapes. Gosie might be too little to stomp them effectively.
