The members who have left and been expelled from NI are women who had gathered before the shoppers or WRN were formed. We were a small rag tag group protesting in NI and watched the shoppers groups become WRN. We eventually joined WRN.
That sounds like good background and experience for you all to regroup and put this unpleasant episode behind you ❤️
It is very odd that this thread has attracted the attention of some PP who happily admit that they are not and have never been members of WRN. I don't recall that happening on the previous thread, which started off being about the "Buckinghamshire Implosion" and branched out into discussion about the earlier "Scottish Clearances".
What I do recognise as similar to those earlier discussions is the extraordinary level of aggression and rudeness exhibited by posters ostensibly defending WRN generally and Heather Binning specifically. This is unlike anything I have seen from WRN members "in real life".
Alongside accounts of how "the expelled" have been spoken to in WhatsApp Groups, it makes me wonder if this sort of behaviour is at least partly a product of organising primarily online in text-based Groups, even when Group members are not anonymous? Then on Mumsnet the bad behaviour ramps up under cover of anonymity?
Not forgetting that Mumsnet threads are often joined by bad actors who would not be eligible to join WRN and who revel in sowing discord among women. That is always a possibility, although from comments in this thread it seems that some PP think that they recognise other anonymous posters. Which, if correct, does not cast WRN in a good light.
PP, whether WRN members, ex-members or non-members, wishing to know more about the origins of WRN will find everything they ever wanted to know in the previous thread:
